  1. That was a fun video, thanks, but I guess that it would take about one stein full to fill me up. That said I am interested to hear some German Metal in German. I guess I should fully peruse the suggestions threads before asking for directions. Ive gone on to this by them- Rekreatur [Limited Edition] (Full Album) and the first cut is pretty dense and vivid, if a bit cheesy. Is this youtube thing going to last?
  2. O.K. Iceni, sorry to go on and on about my family life, but in addition to a wife, I also have two preteen daughters who are singing pop tunes. On sings one word and then the other sings the next and so on. Tylor Swift- we, are, never, ever, like, ever, getting, back , together, ever... On the up side they are putting away the laundry, so there is that. I'm listening to some Mastodon with headphones.
  3. whatever else happens your going to want to hold on to those socks.
  4. I feel your pain Iceni, My wife who is washing the dishes tells me we are listening to 90's jam bands, but to me it sounds like uppity bluegrass. First it's Bella flec then it's Gov't Mule, and its the worst. She is washing dishes though, so there is that.
  5. Katatonia Dance of Decembers Souls
  6. Why is it that people are not going on and on about how awesome this album is, Death Magic Doom? Also I guess that I am not enjoying Psalms for the Dead all that much. Maybe it is too clean and proper, and I don't really feel the broody atmosphere is for real. The keyboard parts annoy me with their old timey whirling, every tune has an over-engineered intro, and maybe they sound basically the same more or less. I feel like an asshole criticizing this epic band of the ages whose musicianship is masterful, but Candlemass can not end on this note, they must make a better last album starting with Time Is Black (last and, in my opinion a fully awesome tune) and going from there.
  7. Candlemass King of the Grey Islands
  8. A friend recently turned me on to a documentary that I enjoyed very much. It is called "Such Hounds Such Hawks", Have you seen it? I like High On Fire, and I like their album art a lot. A part of the documentary is about the guy who paints their album covers, and there is lots of Matt Pike (and several bands).
  9. I would love to see them BAN, Regarding Soma by Windhand, I listened just once, but yearn to give my impressions. It is wicked heavy. In that way it is like all the little bits of them that I have heard. It's a very even and constant pressure, which is to say that it's not dynamic, no interesting architecture of composition, just constant oppressive weight with the occasional folkish coma of punctuation that might, in my opinion, have been delivered with richer style. I'd like to hear something a little more opulent somewhere, but mostly I just love to be steeped in the thick distorted heaviness of the thing they do. I can't say for sure that they have the real pathos, but it does it for me just in digital, so now I want the vinyl in cream with a splatter of green. Thanks for Asking. I forgot to mention there was this one point about 2/3 of the way through were it just falls apart. It's maybe "experimental" and who am I to judge, but I would have edited it out.
  10. Hey Iceni, I work in the gardens of the rich. Lovely gardens by the sea. Not food, but surly service. But not today... Sanctuary Into the Mirror Black Never heard it all before, It's vicious!
  11. Windhand (yes, I do like to start out in the morning with heavy Doom)
  12. Various Prog/power suggestions from RelentlessOblivion on an old thread. (Manticora at the moment)
  13. Pardon me for dredging up this old thread, but I'm loving some of this stuff, especially Futures End. That and the very ax and armor intensive album covers of several of these suggestions are worth the price of admission.
  14. For sure not Metal, and apt to seem silly to many, but I was thrilled to find this- http://www.cartoonopolis.com/music-library/he-man-music/ I have to say that it seemed cooler when I was a kid, but still, it's pretty out there. Had to share with someone, I thought of you.
  15. Forbidden - Twisted into Form youtube thought I might like it, and I guess I do, Thanks youtube.
  16. High On Fire The Art of Self Defense
  17. Back in the 80's when I was in high school the correlation between how a person dressed and what kind of music they professed to like was pretty strong and especially the distinction of who was authentically punk seems very divisive in my high schools (I went to three). No doubt that was because scarcely anyone in any of them was authentically punk. Anyway what ought the connection be? I guess how one dresses seems less important now a days. You all seem to be concerned more with a douchey bragging by some people about how much they know about Metal when they are really not that into it. That is a bit out of my realm of experience. I don't know too many people who are into Metal period. That is part of why I joined this forum, which in the beginning seemed to me like a bit of a poser move on my part. I don't feel like a poser really, just fairly ignorant. I do like Metal fashion though, even if I dress in corduroy and hippie vests. What if someone really likes the way a band t-shirt looks but can't stand the music, does it make them a poser if they wear it? If its a tour shirt and they didn't make it to any of the shows listed on the back I feel it's unconscionable to wear it, but if it's just badassed I don't know. I'd love to wear a Celtic Frost shirt, but I don't listen to them ever, so maybe someone should caution me there. Go ahead.
