  1. I just read through maybe 3 days of this thread, and wanted to express my sympathy to those on here who are distressed by various family problems, and also state the obvious which is that this is a beautiful and precious forum. I'm glad to have found it.
  2. Doom 101 suggestions Necro Schizma very,very,grim....so thank you
  3. Had to google that and lo and behold... lots more tits and ass then I was expecting, More T&A and less seeping burlap bandages and open soars.
  4. System of a Down on the Radio, title track from Toxicity,"the toxicity of our city.." "somewhere between the whatnot and the other thing" and so on, does that make sense? Now its zztop so there you go "Cheep Sunglasses".
  5. I've got a dark field that I'm typing light words into just now, So nice. I'm new also, and imagine that Scotland is hella-Metal. If it is not, please don't tell me 'cus I don't wanna know, but I picture deep dark stone cellars filled with scads of heavy doom bands all dour and shit. "Funking Mental" is that not what you say?
  6. Death, War, Famine and Pestilence are always in vogue, though I would have to say that Pestilence has not really been carrying its weight of late.
  7. Some Nevermore, Dead Heart in a Dead World. Because between FA's painting soundtrack and the Into to Prog thread suggestions from Iceni it seems to be all the rage. Some wicked artsy Bub, I like it a lot. Oh, a Simon and Garfunkel cover, dig it!
  8. I loaded up my bass and road out to play with a new friend for the first time. He forgot(strike one) and was not there, but some dust got knocked off gear that has not left the back of the closet for years, so not all was lost.
  9. All Them Witches Lightening at the Door
  10. Electric wizard and some Windhand before that.
  11. Hey Opatoi, I'm new to the forum myself, welcome.
  12. We've seen the Scorpions, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Yes it's top notch bonding. I told my wife and girls that I am going to start wearing t-shirts with stuff on them and they pointed out about half a dozen such t-s I wear all the time(not bands but other stuff). So as a cautionary note, take what I say about myself with a grain of salt, because apparently I have about zero self awareness.
  13. I recently got a used CD of his, the one with a zig-zag arrow on it. I could not listen to it once. It's just too shrill and grating. That said, he might make a good fashion coach, or video director or image consultant (is that a profession) for a fun shock rock band.
  14. Nice thread... I have to doubt that the internet is particularly ideal for the scene since I have the feeling that most home web pages of bands are a little disappointing. I acknowledge that that is a hard calculus, and I do not understand the mechanics of material success for a bad. Some of the sites I am thinking of are those of bands established before the internet era, for that matter. I notice the merchandise portions are always on a different umbrella site, I hope it's fair for the artists. I haven't until recently made much of an effort to see shows, but that is the classic Metal experience isn't it? My brother and I have made a point of seeing a big Metal show every year for a few years now, and supported historic bands not in need of much support, oh well. I'd like to get out more and see smaller acts that make it up here. I've never worn t-shirts of any kind pretty much ever, but that may all change.
  15. Following deathstorms lead I've been finding Sabaton (on UT) which is satisfying my desire to hear powerful metal in Northern languages, In fact Swedish may be better the German. Sabaton, Carolus Rex
  16. I would want "Yellow Raven" by the Scorpions. Goods funeral music and family friendly.
  17. I have looked around a little, and imagine myself a bit of a dunce for having to ask, but where are these storied suggestion threads of song and legend? I what to learn about German Doom metal sung in German, coherent clean German so that I can delight in understanding every tenth word. But before asking for help I feel honor bound to peruse the threads of suggestions. Please help, thank you. What is going great is that I am typing into a dark field with contrasting light letters, so thank you very much to whoever has make that possible. It is a delight in and of itself.
