I think I would like DT if they had a different singer and different drummer perhaps. Not saying they aren't good, but I don't like labrie's voice and think portnoy's style is too technically oriented. If those two aspects were more appealing to me, I think I would like them as much as symphony x.

I guess it depends on musical taste but that also confirms they did change styles after the Odyssey, which is the album before paradise lost. It feels like they went in the heavier direction and lost some of the progressiveness and neo classical elements in their songs. I heard they are working on a new album. Hopefully it will appeal to me since as someone who plays multiple instruments and writes music, I love symphony x's technical prowess and their older style of writing. Romeo's guitar power level is for sure over 9000. Pinella's keyboard skills are pretty good too as well as lepond's bass playing and rullo's drumming. I just wish they produced another album similar to V, the divine wings of tragedy, or the Odyssey.

yeah even though symphony x is my favorite band (i consider them to be the best i've come across so far), i don't really like iconoclast, their self-titled album, damnation game, and most of paradise lost. I am a picky guy when it comes to music lol. I have yet to find a band in which i can like their whole discography. it might just be wishful thinking to find a band like that though. symphony x is the closest to that i've found so far. are there any bands similar to symphony x in their divine wings of tragedy/twilight in olympus/v/odyssey days? or any other band suggestions?

Hey everybody! My name is scott and my project is named RPG Music Composer lol (most original name ever). Favorite band by far is Symphony X. Some other stuff i listen to is Metallica, Kamelot, Avantasia, Pantera, and music in other genres but metal is my favorite. I have been writing and producing music for about 12-13 years now if i remember correctly.
