The last couple of days have been great.
Last week I was able to find time to do the things I used to enjoy most, such as playing chess, visiting my old team's handball match, reading, etc. In the process I bumped into a lot of people I hadn't seen for a long time and although some of the conversations were a bit stiff, I can't deny it did feel good to catch up with old friends: The kid who taught me how to play chess conquered the 10th place on the Belgian championship this year. He's extremely talented and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. Who knows where we will see him in a few years... My former handball team won with 26-21. The game itself was bloody awful to behold, but at least we won. I hadn't seen a game since I quit about 2 years ago because I simply couldn't be bothered really, but I'm glad I went when I look at it now.
A local instrument repairer has also decided to accept me as his apprentice. This means I now have the unique opportunity to learn how to repair woodwinds (especially saxophones). December will bring my first evaluation, so let's hope for the best. This weekend the biggest flea market in Flanders returns to my city as well. It's an annual event I try to visit each year. I'm looking forward to it as always. The only bummer this year is the fact that I moved. I now live right in front of the tent which will be host to a dozen of Dutch schlager artists who shall relentlessly shout their jolly songs until the hand hits the early hours...
