I love good beer so much. Been a few weeks. My stomach doesn't agree with my positive take on beer anymore, and some parts of my brain are voting with my stomach to discontinue. It hurts, but I'm giving them a chance to make their point. I figure a glass of whiskey every week or so might be enough to keep all parties at a detente.

Bulleit bourbon and soda. I liked their rye, never really loved their bourbon, but with a bit of soda water it goes down fine.

I really enjoy this post. Cheers. I'm happy to hear the vocals more prominent on a BAN album again. I would probably feel more connected to the last couple if the vocals were more prominent. And I love the melodies scattered throughout. Also happy to see this list from Stereogum, thanks. I didn't know Anachronism had a new one out. I'm listening now and it kicks ass. I really liked "Orogeny" but this one is grabbing me more off the bat. You might dig them too, if you're looking for DM that isn't plodding. Three others I recognize and descriptions that have me interested in some others. I've been slowly getting back into tolerating new music over the past several months. I guess the whirlwind of moving over the summer threw me for a loop. It's been weird to be this disengaged from listening to stuff for this long. Glad I'm coming back around. It helps having better stuff to listen to. Blut Aus Nord - Disharmonium: Nahab ...phenom. Goatmaster is missing out. That's ok though. Jute Gyte - Unus Mundus Patet ...some truly gripping stuff and some that I need to come back to. Khanate - To Be Cruel ...honestly I was hoping for something more extreme than this. The music is, dare I say, kinda boring. Not quite a soundscape, not hearing riffs either. Vocals hit me as a little contrived. Give me real riffs and Edgy 59 on vocals. Anachronism - Meanders ...man this is good.

I didn't even know they were back together. Did you ever listen to their old albums? I was into their stuff in college, especially the first self-titled album. Dubin had (has?) a heck of a set of pipes, if you're into the sound of being mangled. I have no idea what you would think of it.

Enjoying it at all? I think it's my favorite one of theirs from the past few years.

Cheers man, welcome to the forum. I am 44 and still rock the long hair as well. I've cut it all off in the past, but at some point I realized I feel more like myself with my hair grown out. Maybe that's dumb but it's still true. No motorcycle though, I think I'd be dead by now.

Yay Boo ...it's from 22, anyway. Not as thrilling but still a fun album.

Have you read Roberto Calasso's "The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony"? Really engaging de- and re-construction of Greek myth and poetry. He mentions the story of the killing, dismemberment, and consumption of Zagreus, who became identified with Dionysus and got retconned into being part of his origin story. Lots of interesting connections to other ideas. I'm not too surprised the word hasn't popped up in metal music before though, it sounds more like a dinner dish than something tough and cool like flaying and dismemberment.
