  1. Leopard. I like being a mammal. Frost or Trym?
  2. Re: What Are You Listening To? Yeah, I liked the melodies too. It was more dark than evil... a little bit of a funeral doom melodic quality, but with a more aggressive pace.
  3. Dave. He's your man. I liked it when I was younger, but it gives me a headache, anymore. Too much sugar.
  4. Awesome, I will look for them. Thanks for the heads up. edit - listening to Bereft - Leichenhaus via Youtube. Cool stuff so far, great sound.
  5. He basically was Diabolical Masquerade. Trouble, because Tolkien band names are goofy. Rambo or "Snake" Plisken?
  6. David Bowie, I don't want to be dead. Plus he's got a better voice. Jonas Renkse or Anders Nystrom?
  7. I'm not surprised that you don't like them. Who knows, you might get into it more if your tastes change - there was definitely a time when I wouldn't have enjoyed them much either. How do you feel about instrumental prog? I just listened to the Cloudkicker album "Beacons" and I was really impressed. I hear all the guy's albums are a bit different, I heard one last year that I didn't like as much.
  8. Satan, what kind of art do you do? I don't think I recall seeing you post anything.
  9. Why would I mind? Thank you for listening, and I hope you dig it! As far as I know, I can't see identities of "likes" on youtube, though.
  10. Intronaut - Valley Of Smoke I was skeptical about the clean vocals, but they're really nice. Again I'm reminded a bit of Isis. Simple, with good harmonies, not dinky and cheesy. There's a contemplative, hopeful, and energetic feel to everything. This album is much more "progressive" than it is "metal"; still has plenty of heavy moments, but it always returns to an airy lightness, guitar atmospheres over bouncy bass arpeggios. I quite like this, but it'll probably disappoint anyone looking for a lot of aggression or darkness.
  11. Intronaut - Prehistoricisms I'd never heard these guys before and didn't know what to expect. I'm actually really liking it so far, aside from this drum solo I just heard. Not entirely sold on the vocals, but there are some really cool chords and odd rhythms here, and they make an effort to be melodic in an unconventional way. I really appreciate the interplay of the guitars and bass. edit - some of these songs are really meandering and self-indulgent. I can't say I like all of it - the spacey percussion with the sitars and the gratuitous jazz turn me off a bit. But the good parts are really good. There's a good amount of what I liked about later Isis going on here. I'll definitely be listening to this more.
  12. You can't have riffs like that, and vocals like that, without a vest like that.
  13. Talanas - Diaphora Thank you, again! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I hope you dig the new one. I'm really proud of it, and I can't wait to hear what it sounds like once it's mastered. I should be getting it back this coming week.
  14. Lo-Ruhamah - As We Walk this one's even better, some great riffs!
  15. Lo-Ruhamah - Shear-Jasub This is pretty good, Iceni. The clean parts are moody and melancholic, nice dynamic shifts, and melodically there are some some similarities to Furia. Good vocals too.
  16. Antediluvian - Through The Cervix Of Hawaah Finally checking this out. I think I'll have to come back to it later, I just find myself wishing I was listening to Abyssal or Mitochondrion instead. The band picture they have on bandcamp, with all the bones and stuff... fucking hilarious.
  17. Forge, that video is hilarious! I dig the Gost track, liked some of the Perturbator track although I didn't really care for the "hopeful" melody that came in around 2:00. Here's some more-or-less electronic stuff I dig, all probably reasonably well-known - been a long time since I kept up with this genre. I love some of that goth industrial shit, can you tell? sWO8dVXNNRk PvVccaOQrTM sDEhCm0pxCo xlp2vJXyFVg
  18. @ JBaker - If that stops you from enjoying the music, that's fine. It's a totally personal thing. BAN is more open-minded than I am about it; I'm only starting to open up to more of Burzum's catalog, and Varg's ideology is one of the things that kept me from listening to it much before now. As BAN points out, whatever political views the band members might have aren't really being pushed in the lyrics. It's understandable that you wouldn't seek out someone's work if you're uncomfortable with their views. FWIW, I still have trouble with a lot of Christian metal because I disagree with the attitude and ideology. But listening to Cannibal Corpse hasn't turned me into a murderer, listening to Deicide hasn't turned me into a Satanist, and my love of medieval chants hasn't turned me into a Catholic. Listening to Burzum won't turn me into a bigot. It's not necessary to completely identify with someone in order to understand and appreciate their work.
  19. Teitanblood - Seven Chalices cool filthy sound, but I'm not blown away but the riffs here so far.
  20. I've had the same problem with listening to Burzum, so I can relate. The other bands, not so much.
  21. Never heard that. I've heard "the balls", but any kind of animal reference makes it negative. Here man, try this beer, it's the goat balls. (upon reflection, I'm guessing you think beer is kind of like goat balls anyway...)
