  1. Although this: ...is awesome and hilariously appropriate.
  2. No, no. Mutiny Within is not at all nu-metal. Nu-metal is far more simplistic and relies on big rock and hip hop beats, basic dynamic shifts, rapped/screamed vocals, simple melodies, pop song structure. A de-emphasis on virtuosity. A commodifiable image of juvenile deviance. Here's some nu-metal: 5P9pd8JqVT4 Z_ZkUROJ86Y There's a bit of metal in the chunky guitars, it has similar sonic characteristics, it's even got some of the same lyrical themes... think of it as abrasive pop for angry kids.
  3. Unfortunately all of the lesser-known ones I can recall, in this case, were even shittier knockoffs of the bigger mainstream acts.
  4. AWESOME! Congratulations, dude! I'm so excited for you! And I'm sure your girl will be just fine. Welcome, young metalhead-to-be! Heh. Don't you worry about us...
  5. I've been getting into them recently, but for some reason the vocals on that album really turn me off. I like the singing on Valley Of Smoke. The meandering jazzy bits don't really do it for me, but there's a good bit of it that I really enjoy. Is there a song in particular you'd recommend from that album?
  6. Re: What Are You Listening To? World Coming Down and Life Is Killing Me are my favorite albums, but I really dig almost all of their stuff. Hard to go wrong. You might like Carnivore, too, it was Pete's band before he started TON. More of a hardcore band, more basic songwriting and lots of yelling. Good times.
  7. The 90s, I'm still finding incredible death and black metal from then that I hadn't heard before, not to mention most of my favorite stuff by most of my favorite bands and plenty of music from other genres. But I like all eras for different reasons.
  8. I don't know, everyone is different. Getting on with my life helped a bunch, but the really bad part just went away on its own, after quite a long time.
  9. Apparently you can order it from Profound Lore and they'll ship now even though it's not officially released until the 18th. I haven't heard their older stuff. So many bands here...
  10. I'll shock you and shoot a lightsaber at your head if you keep saying things like that.
  11. I think I've been there, years ago. Haven't had an opportunity to go out that way in a while.
  12. That's what it is. You seem like a dickhead sometimes, but really you're just wandering around helplessly, looking for your tiny robot friend.
  13. One of my good friends grew up in Edison, and we visited out there a few times. it's nice out there. My aunt lives in Trenton, nice down there too. Most everyone I've met from Jersey is cool. There are even some New Yorkers who are intelligent, open-minded, and personable, from what I've heard.
  14. ...of course not. It's ok, anyone that could be scared off by you might have a hard time around here anyway.
  15. Dude, that Converge album is their best IMO. Probably my favorite of the genre, along with Calculating Infinity. It's where they turned into the Converge we all know and {love/hate}. They took a lot of shit for how "metal" it was, when it came out. Get your hands on it.
  16. Oh, hmm, I like bitter beers. Leffe is ok, I don't remember if I've had Jever, I can't stand Heineken (though I hear it's different in Europe)... I bet you'd like a lot of Belgian and German beers.
  17. I know you were joking around, but for fuck's sake... Nearly everything I hate about modern metal wrapped into a little ball. NO. 2/10 for having competent musicianship. Here's the Converge song I woulda picked: RECUdsd6R3s
  18. I've never had a Croatian beer, though my experiences with Eastern European beer have been hit and miss. Found anything in particular you like?
  19. Shiro-Ishii - Zhongma One of my old bands. Death metal with some grind, hardcore, and doom influences. I haven't really listened to this in ages. I remember being really disappointed with this recording, but listening back to it now it sounds really heavy and fun. It's making me miss playing live and writing with people. Having said that, I doubt anyone here, other than maybe JBaker and KSMASH, would enjoy this. Screechy vocals and breakdowns!
