To be honest, that was my first reaction as well, but I think we've all got more to gain by helping btbam understand how this forum works. It takes time and patience to wade through all the pages of suggestions, and get to know people with similar tastes - like you and I, for instance - who you can trade more relevant recommendations with. His tastes seem fairly uncommon among our group and he might have some good stuff to add. Hopefully it clicks.

Cool, thanks! I liked a lot of that, nice melodies, good abstract songwriting. I didn't care for all the vocals or all the parts, but it sounds sincere and mostly unforced. I assume he's talking about some of the racist black metal bands... @ btbam91, it's not a terrible idea, but that's basically what a lot of our threads turn into anyway; and saying you don't want anyone to post anything "hateful" is pretty restrictive in itself, considering how hate-filled and angry a lot of metal music is. Not to mention, it's subjective. We've had a few discussions recently about different people's thresholds for what they can tolerate, in terms of lyrical content that they disagree with. Please feel free to jump in on any of those, it's nice to hear other people's opinions.

We do have several genre-specific recommendations threads already, with lots of Youtube links. Might be interesting to have an unsigned/local bands thread, though a lot of bands do post their own stuff in the promotional section.

I'll have a listen, but I haven't really gotten into what I've heard from them.

Negative Plane - Stained Glass Revelations Some interesting guitar work so far. I'm not blown away by the lead melodies, but they add a cool atmosphere. I'll see where this one goes. edit - OK, I'm getting it. Really like the guitar work. There's some nice atmospheric stuff, almost psychedelic guitars at times, and some pretty unorthodox but almost traditional heavy-metal sounding riffs. The main riff in The One And The Many kicks ass.

Hah, yeah, mine is like that too when I grow it out. I don't miss dealing with that. Plus my kid doesn't need any more stuff to grab and rip and destroy.

What hipster shit? What ghetto shit? I like a bunch of rap and a few pretty "hipster"-ish rock bands... there's a lot of really high-quality music there, whether or not it's to your taste.
