There's a bit of black metal in their sound - in fact that's why I got into them when I was a teenager, it was the trem-picked black metal melodies and blasts, higher vocals, but arranged in a less straightforward death-metal way. That's what I loved about the Gothenburg scene, and that's what I feel is missing from everything after the mid-to-late 90s - it's not that I don't like new music, I love new music, but I feel like the bands that stuck around from that scene kept the boring parts, supplemented them with some really lame shit, and stopped doing the good stuff.
