  1. Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
  2. Iron Monkey - Our Problem Sludge metal and black IPA are definitely an award-winning combination.
  3. Neurosis - Honor Found in Decay Gotta say, I love this album. I love the aged, almost whisky-soaked vocal style as well as the post-apocalyptic atmosphere that's sustained throughout and I think the faint glimmer of hope and positivity that is *very* occasionally alluded to makes it an even more compelling listen. Despite its relative accessibility, it's an intense ride that can still be heavy as fuck when it wants to be. Production is fucking great as well. The whole album makes me imagine walking through the wastelands of Fallout 3 at night.
  4. Godflesh - Streetcleaner I give the '80s a bad rep, but 1989 was a pretty fucking great year for heavy music imo!
  5. Against Me! - Transgender Dysphoria Blues Anvil-heavy German funeral doom to up-beat, slightly poppy punk rock all in a day's work.
  6. Neurosis - Through Sliver in Blood
  7. Destrage - Are You Kidding Me? No.
  8. Ihsahn - Eremita Proggy black(ish) metal with Alice in Chains-style rock choruses and saxophones 'n' shit. Weird combination, but works pretty well.
  9. Deftones - Diamond Eyes This is definitely the band at their most concise and straight forward, but the record is pulled off with such a wonderful fineness that it's impossible to complain, really.
  10. Converge - Jane Doe Definitely favouring brutal techy stuff today.
  11. Cult of Luna - Vertikal Hugely transcendental and heavy in just about every conceivable way.
  12. At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
