  1. As a fan of Sabbath's first six albums I appreciate Orchid both because of and despite the fact that they're an excellent Sabbath tribute band.

    Good job, I can't either.

    Ghost

Fuck this lame pop band and their gimmicks.
  4. The movies One-Man Metal and Until the Light Takes Us were interesting in terms of history and psychology, but I don't really care for the musical style or the dress-up.

After getting sick of repeatedly typing out "sludge/doom/stoner/psych" I coined the catch-all term "psluodt".

    Now...?

Eating - Soy nuts Drinking - Rip It Citrus X Listening - Black Land "Black Wizard" Doing - SFA Thinking - I should have defrosted this chunk of beef earlier
  7. Total shit sandwich. See you in death, Jeff.
  8. 1) I'm picky about angry-sounding shouters. Some are inspiring, others are merely distracting nuisances who mar the music they're emoting over. Kidman doesn't really turn my crank. 2) For attainment of greater musical range and depth. To say "They don't use their two guitars in a way that allows for a great deal of complexity" points out a self-imposed limitation of the band on itself, and one which I hope they transcend. 3) Given the band's historical record of leadership and success in stylistic innovation, they're well qualified to bootstrap themselves into an elevated plane of composition and performance. Note that I'm not saying "Meshuggah blows." I'm saying, "Meshuggah is pretty dope (and I'm kinda kicking myself for skipping their gig here the other month) though I wish there were more weird guitar+effects atmospherics/textures alongside the rhythm riffs, and less of the 'I'm fucking a 50 lb. cat' tough-guy vocals."

Been listening to JT a bit after a friend noted my interest in Witch Mountain and Blood Ceremony.

If I were the jealous sort I'd be green-eyed toward Mansoor's fingers. Great intersection of djentiness w/ melodic fuckery, and with a sense of humor to boot. Megabonus: no goddamn vocals.
  11. Love the disciplined robo-rhythms, hate the ridiculous vocalist. Lose him, add a third guitar, start a new trend, appear on children's lunchboxes.
  12. The AxCx raison d'etre: Freedom of expression through transgression. Fire up some Blasphenaut or Agoraphobic Nosebleed if you prefer a more measured stroke.
  13. Corrections House - Live @ Churchill's, Miami
  14. Motivational sound, hell yeah. As someone who prefers instrumental music, the vox-free parallel release of this album is much appreciated, and it's also a format I wish more bands would utilize in the future.
  15. Fresh blood in the Voivod machine sounds good.
