  1. Some solid references to some great albums here especially Priest albums - "Sad...." and "Stained Class" are absolute classics IMO. I gave up with Slayer after "Seasons..." although I am told "Divine Intervention" is decent too, Metallica lost total credibility after the black album but their first 4 albums are absolutely essential (even though flawed in places). Megadave deserve props too but they are hindered by having a right knob for a leader. Seriously I would rather live next door to a terrorist cell than live next door to Dave Mustaine! Welcome aboard, what are you studying?
  2. I've grown/not grown/progressed/unraveled as a person!
  3. Edguy's latest album. Powerful and catchy as fook! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  4. Sigh "Gallows Gallery". First experience of them, no idea what to expect, 1 track in and it's real treat so far. Quirky, proggy, rocky, cabaret, cheesy, catchy, hooky, entertaining and pleasing.
  5. Virvel Av Morkerhatet "Forsaken Hate Sickness"
  6. Yeah but things are not good financially I have discovered, somebody decided to build a new hospital and funding for that has come out of every pot we had as an organisation and to fund this new project existing wards will have to be shut. If this is the kind of leadership we have at present then I am not sure I want to be a part of it much longer.
  7. Aevangelist "Omen Ex Simulacra" Still having a hard time getting to grips with this album, I like a lot to be going on in my music but even I have my limits. The balance of eerie sound effects and noise against actual instrument playing time and song structure is tested here to the point of near irritation. That having been said when they get it right it works a treat but on the whole I still find myself wanting to like it a lot more than I actually do!
  8. Big, hurried and flustered meeting called today at 4pm at work. We are to under go a "corporate review" and need to lose 30% of our backroom function. It is not envisaged that this will occur as a result of natural waste (retirement for example) so the board have even offered voluntary redundancy. I'm quite pleased and will gladly throw my hat in the ring when the redundancy strikes. 40k+ in my pocket = a few qualifications and me going it alone as a contractor methinks.
  9. Jeez - and I thought my 15 hour days were pushing it! Hit me up next time you are working late Ghouly - we can exchange animated gifs and powerpoint slides!
  10. 4 tracks in and given up with Tribulation. Not sure why it's lauded so much in reviews as it makes poor use of it's interesting ideas and drowns them in mediocre delivery. NP: Wodensthrone "Loss"
  11. Tribulation "Formulas Of Death" Not sure what to make of this - have given it a run through before now but not been bitten by it. Get an overall sense of it being a bit "tame" as I listen. Interesting enough still just necessarily my bag arrangement wise.
  12. Deathcult "Pleading for Death....Choking On Life"
  13. Forefather "Steadfast" - stumbled across them completely by accident (see Black Metal thread) and actually quite like them. Two tracks in and this album is kind of like a blackened Amon Amarth to some degree. Strange I have never heard of them considering they are from the UK and aren't terrible.
  14. Had never heard of Forefather to be honest. A quick look up on Youtube and MetaL Archives was needed. They actually prefer to call themselves "Anglo-Saxon Metal" and seem to dislike Black Metal as a tag, although the influence is there certainly. Seems a bit bizarre to create a tag all of your own to try and stand out from the crowd. Anyway will give them a listen through now - thanks for the (inadvertent) heads up Iceni.
  15. So far this morning whilst gardening (rock n roll!!!): Impetuous Ritual "Unholy Congregation of Hypocritical Ambivalence" Behexen "Rituale Satanum" Unholy Crucifix "Ordo Servorum Satanum"
  16. I agree - both on Winterfylleth and the general lack of big UK contributors. There are some decent acts out there still like Crom Dubh with their Saxon, Norse and Celtic mythology themed lyrics. But from a signed point of view I can only think of Fen (arguably more post rock??) as a notable name. I am on the fence about Winterfylleth still, there aren't shit but they seem to lack something that I can't quite put my finger on.
