  2. New keyboard and mouse synced with PC and I now can see the letter A on my keyboard again.

P.S. I know where A is obviously anyway.  Would have to be a next level douche bag to not know where A is on a keyboard after some 30 years of using a computer most days.

Thatguy has pneumonia  - probably as a consequence of the COVID I had in the first half of November. There was a midnight trip to the local emergency department  this morning and many hours of waiting and having scans and tests. I am not short of breath, I am not coughing and I only intermittently have a fever. What I have is really severe and unpleasant pain in the left lower chest. I got admitted to the hospital but fortunately the Respiratory Physician said it was just boring old pneumonia and he kicked me out and has given me permission to fly to Hobart Xmas eve afternoon. This is good as we will be having Xmas with Mrs Thatguy's very elderly parents - her dad is 90, and it is my twin brothers-in-law birthdays tomorrow.

Like most here I don't give a fuck about Xmas per se but it is good to be with family especially since there will be fewer and fewer opportunities for us all to be together. It will be a quiet time and especially so for me. Both Mrs Thatguy and the younger Dr Thatguy correctly said that I didn't look after myself when I had COVID and that I must do as I'm told and take it easy now. I think I actually will this time.

On a happier note, my end of year list is about settled and just has to be written up with some very refined notations and I will finish that off while taking it easy when we get back from Tasmania.

    Back soon.

    Be well.

    Dumbass.

Understood ME, it can be an overload when you have messages/invites pinging up all over the place.  You can definitely turn posse invites off and I think you can also disable invites to free-roam events, which will help your experience be more immersive and relaxed.

Gaming is, of course, a wholly personal experience and trust me man, I would never, ever tell someone what I think they should do, but if I may make a suggestion, perhaps try playing the online in small, bite-sized chunks at first.  Familiarise yourself with what the game has to offer and just focus on one or two things at a time.  Personally, I find hunting good fun (and you can sell hides/meat to make some in game dollar) and if you really just want to chill, fishing is a great way to pass the time - I often put some music on and just chill out fishing at Flat Iron Lake or O'Creaghs Run, which is a great source of sockeye salmon :)

    Happy gaming!

While I remember, the Closed Friends Session on GTA5 online works a treat I have found - it is just like the story mode with new things to do.  Annoying that some of the missions still require more than 1 person but I simply don't do them.  Had a couple of sessions on there over the holidays already that have allowed a couple of hours to pass each time (get bored after more than a couple of hours).

Excellent choice!  Black Tongue has long been a favorite of mine.  I liked their previous album a bit better, but I certainly enjoy this one from time to time as well.

It is a recent discovery of mine.  Rare that I set foot in the realm of deathcore but occasionally my peers elsewhere on the internet put me onto something that grabs my interest.  This is not a "breakdown factory" deathcore record though - in fact I would say only Ultima Necat as a track fits this billing of old.  Elsewhere on the record there are elements of grindcore, black metal and the abysmally heavy drops that are more fitting to the sub-genre.  Great story to this record which is obvious from listening through (even the Celtic Frost cover works) to simply pick up the narrative.

Yeah, I remember finding that one when they were doing a full album stream a while back. It didn't really do it for me. Apparently a lot of other people really liked it though.

I didn't make it through more than half of the album before the plonk of the piano was getting to regularly placed ahead of everything else and I was losing interest as a result.

  7. I actually realised my Game Pass that I already have for Xbox covers me for online - I just didn't know.  Went on last night for about an hour.  Kind of agree on the ability to avoid others (enabling passive mode is a gift that keeps on giving) but there's still far too much going on for me with all the notifications and invites to gangs and stuff (need to look at how those can be disabled) and in the end I just got naffed off and logged off as it was sending my anxiety levels way up.

Will revisit once I have finished work for the holidays and I don't then go from a day of answering phone calls and emails to a virtual world of the same that evening.

I'm generally like that too, ME, though I have one mate from Norway I play regularly with and am playing right now, in fact.  But yeah, I don't do interaction with randoms.

In short, yes, in recent times there is a lot more you can do as a solo player in online - Rockstar finally realised that players want the option to play single player stuff in online, too, a few years back.  The stuff I mentioned in my previous post, the chop shop, you can run all of that solo.

There is also a heist (Cayo Perico) you can do solo, too.  I wouldn't say it's the greatest heist but it's fun enough.  There's also an auto shop you can run missions/mini-heists from as a solo player and since last year, you can now run the CEO business/biker missions and sales in solo/closed sessions, too, which you couldn't previously as they had to be in public sessions.

If interaction with other players is all you are worried about, then I wouldn't let that stop you as there is plenty to do alone.

Happy to talk you through/offer some guidance if you need it, my friend.

    Have a good evening 🤘

Thanks for the update, sounds promising and I may invest in online via my Xbox or PS5 in the near future.

  9. I have never really been a fan of the idea of GTA Online - I just don't want to interact with other players as I find gaming a much more personal experience.  Is it possible to just be in online and go about your business like you can in the main game?  I accept that there are a lot more toys to play with as it were in the online option but just am not interested in the co-op option overall.
