  1. After recent health scare and the fact that any amount of alcohol now induces crippling anxiety for at least 24 hours afterwards, I quit drinking around 3 months ago.  I have any zero alcohol option "beer" that is on offer in whatever place we are in at the time but the taste of these tings varies wildly from borderline tap water to completely OTT flavourings that are not well balanced.  Erdinger and Leffe are the pick of the bunch with San Miguel coming a distant third.

Increasingly, when in bars with microbreweries or specialist draughts I find the zero alcohol stuff sells out pretty quickly suggesting they order/produce minimal amounts.  Prefer a green tea nowadays to be fair though.

Man, people were all over this album when it came out; I mean really hyping this thing to the moon and back. I went through the whole thing once and came away enjoying it, but it didn't level me the way it had so many others. Might give it a second chance here soon.

I am about ten or so listens in over a number of years and still sit on the fence.  The industrial and "post" elements work the best for me but I am not massive fans of either as individual genres.  The bm parts I can leave easily enough.  Somehow there is some sense of coherence in what on paper at least should be a very chaotic sounding record.

  3. Samael - Blood Ritual (1992) - Often overlooked for being much cleaner in production but I think it works really well with this almost blackened doom style.  Paired back from the debut to the point of being almost basic but still a thoroughly enjoyable black metal album.

Malevolent Creation - The Ten Commandments (1991) - I battle with Malevolent Creation if I am honest, probably because I came to them late and therefore they have offered very little colour to my already well established death metal palette.  Nothing wrong with this one though, plays as a thrashy Floridian dm record.

Civerous - Maze Envy (2024) - Stupid album name aside, this is a bit of a patchy release overall.  Album highlight Shrouded in Crystals is bookended by two instrumental tracks which smacks of filler straight away just 3 tracks in (on a 7 track release).  There's promise here though, just not very well represented on this canvas however.
