  4. Pretty good band! I like this old school look and sound. I'm really impressed by the Capricorn song, listened to it 3 times! Thanks for the topic about them. I never heard about Orchid before
  5. To put a video link, you can select a part of your test, song same for example then click on the link button ( in the editing box with text colour/size/police,...) and in the indicated place paste your link. It will give something like my links under. About your links, I always liked Igor Presnyakov. Fear of the Dark, as it is one of my favourite Iron Maiden song, is just brilliant! I really enjoy these two Metallica songs in acoustic version :
  6. These are pretty nice songs. A very peaceful atmosphere in Håleygirland. Some moments made me think of Arkona ( maybe some part of the melody ) which is nice but it really has its own style. And some of the landscapes in the clip are breathtaking! I listened some other songs and really enjoyed Autumnal Equinox Gryningen. The last one really fits the today's weather. Well, I liked it, as I said it is peaceful and beautiful. I subscribed to the Youtube channel for the future songs.
  7. Limbo is an excellent game. I like independant and small games, this one is best I played for the last few years in its genre.
  8. Black Metal was the hardest genre for me to get into. But I do love many BM bands. I just need to be able to hear an atmosphere if you see what I mean and it all depends on the song more than the band. I take Black Metal song by song and not band by band, otherwise I don't think I would really like the genre. Maybe what I'm saying sounds stupid or unclear^^ For example I really like the songs Jeg Faller and Keliohesten by Burzum but I'm not a huge fan of the rest I heard from them. Regarding to all the nationalist, racist and other stuff in Black Metal, I don't really care in fact. I never paid too much attention to this in Black Metal. My favourite band is Peste Noire, I really like the majority of their songs but I disagree with almost everything the guy is saying. Since I have to check the lyrics for most Black Metal songs and don't always have the time ( or just think to do it ) I mainly listen to it for the music and not what they are talking about.
  9. At the moment I would say : Alice Cooper Alcest Gojira Judas Priest Finntroll But it changes every week.
  10. 5. Fade to Black by Metallica. I love the voice in this song and the lyrics fit perfectly the music. There is something in this song that makes it quite sad. It certainly is the guitar in the background. 3. Letter to Dana by Sonata Arctica. I'm not a really huge fan of SA, I might know only two or three of their songs but Letter to Dana has something very sad in it. The refrain is the best part and the power in this song. What the lyrics are about already make the song sad. The with the female voice this song is just among the saddest I've heard. It's not Metal, but I could no think of a saddest song in my opinion. It's not something special in this song, just the whole song that is sad. And I add this one, by Judas Priest
  11. I agree about the Anette's covers. Some are not really good ( others okay ). But I like Anette, Imaginaerum is a very good album in my opinion ( Dark Passion Play is okay ). I like both Nightwish's eras. They are different, a bit disturbing at first. When Tarja left, a part of what Nightwish was left too but not only in a bad way. And I understood that Tarja and the rest of band were not well together at the end, so it might have been a better idea for them to separate than having a band with members who don't like to work together. I completely respect this choice. I understand that people dislike the " without Tarja Nightwish " but I've read some comments in youtube for example and it's unbelievable how Anette received such hate from fans. I've seen Nightwish with Anette in live and she sings well, the songs written with her fits her voice very well ( covers can be weird yes ). And Tarja, I saw her live, it was good but it's not the best thing I've seen, she looks so pretentious on stage...
  12. That is right indeed. Exactly what I think and also one of the reason I love Metal. No matter how you feel, you can always find a song that suits you. Also I think the possibility of using every kind of instruments is a reason why I love Metal, it can " regroup " almost all other music genres. The lyrics in many band are amazing sometimes. As good as reading poetry ( especially in Doom Metal in my opinion ). And the people, it's a good way to open you to other countries by talking with fans from the other side of the world though the Internet or festivals. I'll always remember how in a festival with friends we shared our food and drinks with two Germans and discovered some specialties of our own countries. So here are five reasons : 1)- The way Metal can act with your feelings and mood. 2 ) - The instruments! ( I discovered many through Metal ). 3)- The variety, Metal is hardly a musical genre but more like the father of a huge musical family. 4)- The lyrics. I always have to read the lyrics or a translation of them. It really is a part of what the song is unlike in other music types ( even if it's good!) 5 ) People! From the fans to some artists who are amazing
  13. I never been to Bloodstock but Scullicon is perfectly right about Wacken. In 2010, Iron Maiden was too crowded so I went to see an other band after 30min ( I'm not a huge fan of Iron Maiden ) and they stopped people entering the big stages when Slayer was playing one of them. We watched them from outside the stage. I also found that this year they made two mistakes about what stage some bands played at. They put Equilibrium on the Viking Stage and it was just too small for such a popular band, same thing with Gojira. Still, it was an awesome moment. I'll go there again for sure when I can^^ But Bloodstock seem to be really good as well.
  14. Do you like strategy games ? Like the Total War or the Paradox Interactive's wargames like Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis , Crusader Kings, Victoria ?
  15. I think that is what I said^^ Sorry if I have not expressed myself correctly in the last message. La Sale Famine is as you said a nationalist, in his mind as long I prove yourself to be an elite among the French you are worthy to be a French. That's why I think he perfectly accepted to play with guy of Asian origins in his band ( since he proved to be one of the best French bass player ). I highly doubt I would like the guy, for some of the reasons you said for example, but in terms of music he is a great guy
  16. Thank you all for the welcomes Idlewilde --> Northern France is nice, better than South in my opinion. I'm from Burgundy region, the department is the Côte d'Or ( Golden Hill ). I see that you are from Bulgaria, I went to Veliko Tarnovo 2 years ago It was a really good week. Iceni, I know them, I'm not really a fan ( maybe I haven't listened to them enough ). Some years ago I bought a magazine with a CD which included two of Akphaezya, I don't remember which ones though. Quo Vadis is great, I really like them but I'll check Unexpect. I know Quebec has some really good bands like Sorciers des Glaces, Pierre-Marie Reverdy and the old BARF.
  17. Hi guys, I've seen that the band Peste Noire has been mentioned in the forum but they are quite an interesting band, it could be cool to have a thread for them. Peste Noire ( the Black Death ) is a Black Metal band from France, using different kind of sounds ( folk, ...Etc ). Founded by La Sale Famine in 2000, they mainly talk about Medieval France, Satanism and texts from famous writers ( Baudelaire, Verlaine,...Etc ). Peste Noire is among the most controversial band in France since they were accused of being national socialist which is understanding since the name of some album/project. Though, La Sale Famine stated that the national socialism is not compatible with Peste Noire's ideology, French nationalism. In its own terms, P.N is a " far-right anarchist ". There is a lot more to say about them and the English wiki is quite complete so if you are interested by this band, you should check it. Here are some of my favourite songs: L'hymne en l'honneur de la Peste Le Mort Joyeux I hope you enjoy some of their songs
  18. Alcest is not really Black Metal, its beginning yes but not the last songs ( but very good songs in my opinion ). By Black Metal, I was referring about the old band ( Peste Noire ) of the main guy of Alcest. Which is pretty good for people who like Black. I listened some of Pitbulls in the Nursery, I really like Impact and the drums in this band, thanks for the suggestion
  19. There are three albums that I think of : Lulu-Metallica and Lou Reed, certainly the biggest disappointment for an expected album since I like both Reed and Metallica. Death Magnetic of Metallica. Not that the songs are all bad, but I did not find the sound I like about Metallica, something was missing in this album for my taste. The album was just boring. Then Blooddrunk of Children of Bodom. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I knew many songs of the band and they were really good but when I bought Blooddrunk, I really was disappointed, a bit like with Metallica's Death Magnetic, something in this album did not made me feel like if I was not listening to the good Children of Bodom ( not the evolution I would have like for them ). Still they did better with the next album in my opinion.
  20. Thanks for your welcomes I know Metalcore is not the most loved genre but thanks Metalhead Steve for the names. I knew A7x and All That Remains ( I don't dislike them ) though I looked at Unearth znd some of their songs but that's not really my thing. Deathspell Omega is a good band, they are one of the most known band in France, maybe also quite known internationally ( hope so! ). I've never too much listened ( know some by names ) to the bands you mentioned Iceni, except Gorod and Trepalium. One of the best in France is, in my opinion, Alcest if you like weird stuff ( really atmospheric ) or his older Black Metal bands : Peste Noire and Amesoeurs. Thanks guys for the welcomes
  21. Hi there! I've been invited in Twitter to join you and so I did My name is Alister, 19 and I'm living in the nice French countryside ( I know my name is not really French ) I'm listening Metal for around 10 years now, first it was Rock ( Queen, The Doors, Police, Pink Floyd,... ) then I moved to harder bands and Metal. I don't really have a favourite band, I like almost every kind and always open to suggestions but lately I'd say I listen a lot Skàlmöld, Lamb of God, Wintersun, Finntroll, Gojira and Behemoth and old school bands ( so you see I don't have a real favourite genre ). I also like to discover local bands. I am as ignorant of Nu-Metal/Metalcore as I am ignorant of mathematics so I'd like to find good songs. The best show I have seen would be Alice Cooper, Wacken 2010! Except Metal, I am fan of Classical Music. Otherwise, I am really fond of History and genealogy ( I found an ancestor back in 1675 so far so I do this a lot ). I read a lot, watch TV series, play some video games and board games. About sport, I like Rugby and American Football. Now I guess I've said the main things about me but I can answer any question Thanks for the invitation, that's one of my first forum P.S : Sorry if I make mistakes between UK and US spelling, it is one of my difficulty in English!
