Re: Denver Doomfest II
All it takes is you going out and making it happen. Start small and work your way up. That's all I'm doing.
BTW I might have some other awesome bands playing. I'll let you guys know more soon.
Re: What's the differnce?
I think this is more a grey area. There is a lot of stoner bands that have a lot of doom elements and a lot of doom bands that have stoner elements. Stoner I think is just more "groovy" and blues oriented whereas doom is more based on being heavy.
Re: recommendations?
I would say besides the first generation of Black Metal (Hellhammer, Venom, Bathory etc.) you're not really going to find too much. Maybe Agalloch and "softer" bands.
I host the Denver Doomfest in Colorado annually. This year we are planning on having it in Oct. I have some good bands in the works and will keep all interested updated
Re: doom 101
Check out Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Solstice, Warning, 40 Watt Sun, Yearning and The Flight of Sleipnir. All have clean vocal and are good examples of doom.
Re: Weird obscure black metal bands nobody's heard of
Yeah its based in Colorado Springs in the mountains. Very cool atmosphere for watching black metal. It was truly amazing seeing Nazxul in the middle of the forest. I'm stoked this year Gravecode Nebula and Velnias are playing. Its going to be a good fest this year
