  1. Re: Hello metalheads! Welcome to the forum. Wish the acts I liked would come to the UK occasionally (Ok some have, but still.)
  2. Re: What Are You Listening To? Engines of Hate - Nevermore
  3. Re: Metallica Must say my second fave band..... EVER!!!!! Deep Purple is first.
  4. Re: Slayer So many good songs... so little time to listen to them (says a man listening to Yngwie Malmsteen ). Equally, I think a lot of their stuff is meh at best. My opinion of Korn is the same... oddly.
  5. Re: What Are You Listening To? With the exception of drums, all the instruments are done using the voice HSpuVsLnl1k
  6. Re: no bassists? :L I have barely played since I got it - so I know I ain't any good However, it has been the foundation of several pieces of music I have composed and one is a Bass-Only piece
  7. Re: What Are You Listening To? YV4oYkIeGJc&ob=av3n
  8. Re: Who is the best out of the big 4 ??? I like all four, my order seems to constantly change depending on my mood and what criteria I use. Generally I say Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax.
  9. Re: Records, CDs, or MP3s? I tend to buy on CD and convert to Mp3 - which I discovered recently is technically illegal (but that legislation is currently being updated). I never really owned any records, but my father has Machine Head and Stormbringer by Deep Purple and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd on vinyl, they had nice warm sounds. I think Metal itself is not any better or worse on any format I've heard, really. I'd say live is better, but obviously you can't have Lacuina Copil in your living room I am so used to Mp3's now I'd stick to them.
  10. Re: Ways To Kill Justin Bieber Poll Personally, I'd hang from a tall tree, and use him as a punchbag.
  11. Re: band t'shirts! Not actually a T-shirt, it is a hoody. But I do have Issue by Korn Hoody. I wore it to the gig I saw Motorhead at.
  12. Re: What Are You Listening To? "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour (I know, not Metal - and although an excellent song, a terrible WWE Entrance Theme)
  13. Re: Gothic Metal Easy solved - stop pigeon-holing the artist and pigeon-hole the song instead
  14. Re: Ow, my Head Hurts Heard some of Nevermore, and I must say, I am impressed. Thanks for the nice welcome, folks
  15. Re: glam and gothic metal Yeah, The Darkness is clearly Glam Metal, look at them.... I say obscurity since "Permission to Land" was huge, and their follow-up failed to register for most. I would not classify Heart as Glam, however, in a program I saw a couple years ago called "The Seven Ages of Rock" they were lumped in with Poison and Motley Crue... Pigeon-holing artists is never going to work since we all have different ideas.
  16. Re: Gothic Metal Lordi are pretty Gothic actually... they do a lot of undead stories within their songs and wear ridiculous outfits. The problem is what is Gothic Metal, or Gothic for that matter? You have the same issue everywhere. I consider Nightwish and Evanescence Gothic Metal, you don't. I put Black Sabbath as Hard Rock along with Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. I would not consider Metallica, Megadeth or Anthrax Thrash Metal, yet they are 3/4 of what constitutes the "Big Four of Thrash Metal".
  17. Re: What Are You Listening To? "A Mental Symphony" by Sirenia
  18. Re: Gothic Metal Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation and Sirenia (listening to them right now) are my Gothic Metal poisons. I also like Evanescence and Marilyn Manson though classed as Nu Metal, fits better in the Gothic arena for me. Of course, if you re really desperate you could go for some Lordi
  19. Re: glam and gothic metal Glam Metal bands such as Motley Crue and Poison are about the limit of my knowledge, though i think Heart technically classify, though listening to their stuff I disagree. There is also The Darkness as well, who are a newer band from the UK, they released an album and then disappeared into obscurity.
  20. Re: band t'shirts! Only got one. Motorhead - Gimme More Motorhead from their 2007 European Tour with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Alice Cooper. Bought it at their concert in Newcastle.
  21. Re: no bassists? :L *Tentatively Raises hand* Bad Bassist here Seriously, I have a Bass Guitar, but not confident on it all.
  22. Re: Christian Black Metal I grew up a Christian, I must say I have heard some decent Christian Rock and Metal songs, and the lyrics scanned nicely, if it did seem a bit weird considering Christians tend to be the first to vilify Metal. Christian Black Metal just sounds both hypocritical and contradictory. Also, without a Judeo-Christian God there would be no Satan - A proper Christian believes that Satan exists, and a proper Satanist should believe God exists - they are mutually dependent upon each other for their existence to have any meaning. So, in a way, without Religion, a lot of the music listened to by members of this forum could not exist. This is not to say that this genre just sounds wrong
  23. Re: How Metal Affects You Metal is a happy place for me - quite the opposite of knee jerk politicians and mums who blame it for the world's ills. I am an extreme person when it comes to music actually, in that I love Metal and I love Classical, most of what lies in between is a never-ending land of slush and broken dreams, along with some absolute drivel, but that is just me. Heavy Metal as been vilified and accused of stuff that, quite frankly, it has not done. Yes, some of the music is about the Devil and stuff, but come on, how many songs about the devil can you write? People write off Richard Wagner's music because of his political views and associations with Hitler, for Pete's sake, his stuff is emotional and well composed, some people, I feel need to get a grip and realise that all forms of music tackle issues ranging from Love to Hate and accept that some people hate the genres you love. Now, I'm off to shoot people on unreal Tournament whilst pretending they are members of boybands
  24. Re: Finnish folk metal! Ashamed to say I only know Nightwish I shall nip to YouTube and listen to a few of the bands mentioned here......

    Korn

Re: Korn When I first heard Korn, I hated them. This was their eponymous album, and I heard it in 1998. Then they I heard their Follow the Leader album and was hooked. Apart from 7 songs on Korn, their stuff is pretty cool. I must agree on "Coming Undone" as that is an amazing song, I also like "Freak on a Leash", "Got the Life", "Break some Off" and "Wake up Late".
