  1. This is a very deep subject. What I have to throw out here is: when I first started listening to other guitarist was an intense dislike for that Swedish Shed Master we all know, yin-yang milkshake. you know of whom I speak!. I love that man, he is spot on with his approach to the guitar. I get it. I went to Conservatory too. I have the same approach. I recieved so much shit from that approach in another forum. I got called the OG of guitar for pointing out that I don't use plug-ins because it is too easy for me. just a few pedals, a amp, and my guitar. I am a perfectionist, a little OCD, and an Artist, so perfection or my own version of such is where it is at for me.
  2. I know the feeling. I live in Montana. everyone thinks I moved here from California, and well, I sort of look like I do come from somewhere else. But, I have never been untrue to myself, so I just live quietly, and play the music I love. Being different from the pact is a blessing. in these times of most people having an "unrealistic sense of importance, I feel honored to stand alone! I guess what I am saying here friend is you are not alone, a freak, or weird in anyway. you have a passion, you honor it. it is as it should be. Be proud, I see a lot of people claiming to be passionate, but they are just giving lip service in the hopes of being heard. Sad but true.
  3. I must agree with some of this. FB is a sad note. But I, think of myself as a fourth "type" of metal guitarist. I feel deeply connected to the tones of Metal. It is by far one of the most spiritually rewarding practices I have. I am a classical music, conservatory at 12, kind of guy who studied music since childhood, but dreamed of playing like Page, Rhoads. For myself, I am "old school"when it comes to my equipment and tone. That being said, I find a lot of people on the social media groups like fb to be more of a "poser" than real musicians. we need to remember the agendas behind some claiming to be into metal. Metal is a deep state of being for most, it goes beyond the darkness, beyond the light, it resides in the soul. unless you are there, you will always come across as a little void of content.
  4. Hello, I am living in Montana, so I don't have a lot of Metal Heads to chat with so I am here. looking forward to sharing and enjoying everything guitar!
