  1. haha yeah when I saw the discussion on here I was surprised. But, the door was opened so I thought it would be fun to add my two cents with the feeling that someone at some point would regret starting it.
  2. Oh I see, using your well-off straight white male privilege to shut down criticism? I'm a well-off straight while male and everything I have, I worked for. I came from housing commission, surrounded by druggos and every one of my friend circle from when I was young have now been to prison and do drugs of some sort to this day. So when I hear someone like you diminish what you are because a few losers cry foul over their life circumstances, it pisses me off. No one chooses the circumstances they are born in but you sure as hell can choose what you do with your life. You clearly have chosen well and worked hard, don't let anyone tell you that its a privilege to be where you are, you earned it.
  3. Perhaps. Two of the most powerful things on earth are religion and money. When you say 'paymasters' I assume you're talking about incredibly rich people who pay politicians to act in their favour? I wonder though, is this fundamentally wrong? Think about it, you have many views and opinions on what is right and wrong, so imagine if you found yourself on a pile of cash, I'm certain you would use that money if it meant you could sway a politician to act according to what YOU think is right. So do you really have an issue with the system or is the real issue that you resent not being in a powerful position yourself?
  4. How does being a straight white male magically grant you privileges in society, please tell. Exactly. Politicians don't act altruistically, they go where the money and power is, religion is an afterthought to be wheeled out when its useful.
  5. It seems that you want to live life according to 'live and let live' but this is not how humans are, fundamentally. This is clearly shown by recognizing that around 84% of the worlds population identify as religious. People want to be part of groups, they measure their worth and the correctness of their actions against what the group deems as appropriate. If you live outside of a group then you're living a life of moral relativism. Even YOU crave being part of a group, you're here aren't you? And as much as you think you live your life on your own terms, there are actually many decisions which greatly affect you that are completely outside of your control. If the idea of religion was suddenly stripped from the earth, then people would still find a way to come together in large groups, invariably having to come to a consensus of the fundamentals of how to live a worthwhile life. It must be this way because people simply cannot live in groups as distinct individuals doing what they want without a concern for others in the group. Like it or not, you ARE a part of a group (society) and if you want to enjoy the freedom that a democratic society has, then you also have to learn to live with decisions that don't always suit your personal preference. So, you clearly take exception to people in power who are religious and making decisions that affect you personally. But my point is to look at this from a broader perspective. If a religious person was not making rules and laws that affect you, it would be someone else. And if that someone else didn't subscribe to any religion, then you couldn't be sure what their motivations are or what values they hold. I'm not religious in the slightest, but my view is, with a religious person in charge, at least you know what you're getting. You say you should not have to tolerate other people making decisions that affect you based on their religious beliefs, and that is something I agree with but its nothing more than a nice thought. You want to talk about decisions being made that affect your life? How about $390 million of taxpayer-funded equipment sent to the most corrupt country in Europe without my agreement?
  6. You know I won't. Unless I start taking my pills again.
  7. Yeah don't know what happened to them, there were a few heavy bands around that time who released an album or two and then disappeared. If you never heard of Cruciform before then I got a few others you may not have heard. Misery (QLD) and Anatomy (VIC). Pretty sure Anatomy was a support band for Cannibal Corpse when I saw them in Sydney at the Phoenician Club in 1995. I think I saw Misery at the ANU in Canberra.
  8. Wow, I certainly got people to have deep discussion here, and all from what I thought was a quite innocuous post lol. Only thing I can say is that I do things my way. And as we've clearly seen, some people understand me immediately and others thought I had some kind of angle. So its not a case of whether I was 'right' or 'wrong', its merely subjective perspectives at play. If you think I might have an angle or agenda, then time will tell right? Regarding 'KillaKukumbas' suggestion that the reason for me being kicked off forums is due to my attitude, have to completely and utterly shut that down. As 'SurgicalBrute' suggested, the online environment is not an easy going place anymore, you toe the line or you get kicked. Which means, you better go with the crowd and not question the popular thought of the day or you get cut. My view is, people who are not used to dealing with confrontation or aggression in their lives, can be sensitive to anything which even hints at such a thing. Evidence being that certain people interpreted my first post as being akin to a convict on his first day in prison, signaling to the other inmates that he isn't to be fucked with. I don't see it that way and it certainly wasn't my intention, but I cannot stifle my method of communication in the hopes of taking into account every persons individual personalities and life experiences who may not understand my ways. So the best thing to do is, do what I do and if anyones feathers are ruffled, then I'm happy to make the effort to try and come to an understanding if they could be bothered to talk but if they want to skip to the judgement and insult phase, well then they can kindly fuck off. Bottom line is this, 'SurgicalBrute' completely understood my perspective and has explained it concisely so if you have any other questions, then if I'm not available you could probably just ask him as he seems to know what I'm all about lol. Sorry dude, still here. I have an answer for that (you should know me by now, I have an answer for everything lol). I disagree with your suggestion of laying in wait, seeing what the general climate is and then wading in. Because that suggests I would have to change myself to fit in and I have too much self-respect for that. If that is how YOU do things, then go for it, I don't care how YOU do things. Funny thing about people is they think their way of living and doing things is the 'right' way. We all do, I do aswell, I'm not saying I'm any better than you etc. I'm just saying, try to take this into account before you judge others. Nah, my view is, you present yourself as you are and whatever happens, happens
  9. Totally understand your point about the way someone approaches something, but lets just say that I don't insult people or resort to such nonsense when discussing anything. I could give you an example of the types of discussions I have had which led to permabans but then I'm fairly certain that would lead to a heated discussion on here and invariably a permaban, so would rather avoid that haha. This is a metal forum so I don't expect any political or activist type discussions, unless someone decides to comment about a band I Iisten to that may or may not be accused of or have links to what is considered 'far right'. As long as no one does that, then I can't see any of my interactions on here being a concern. You seem pretty laid back, don't know about that GG guy though, he seems a bit tightly wound lol
  10. Nice, saw them a few times live in Sydney and Canberra. Remember these ones? Cruciform
  11. I have a rich history of being kicked off all the main social media platforms for daring to question popular thought, so its not about being self-conscious, more about being acutely aware that there always seems to be some weak minded fool, drunk with the power of being a mod that brings down the hammer on me. You're not a weak minded fool are you? No, I didn't think so. So I'll have nothing to worry about, right? Huh? It was an intro post, what did you expect, a 'hey guys' like I'm Chachi or something? lol
  12. Liking yourself doesn't count though. I like myself at least once a day but it doesn't seem to change peoples opinion about me.
  13. Sorry to break it to you, but no one respectable likes cucumbers
  14. Ah I see, now I have my first opponent, that didn't take long lol. I may have mistaken your joke, but surely that is understandable since it was a joke only those in the know would get, so why get upset and then follow up your explanation with an insult about how my attitude is some kind of 'shtick'? haha yeah I was just testing the waters. You passed with flying colours, can't say the same for everyone though
