  1. Well, I've been through a lot of metal genres, I don't have a favorite one. When I was in high-school I was listening to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Pantera, Sepultura, Megadeth and Anthrax. And, yes, Mr. Bungle. Those were my die-for-bands. Later I got into a clique that was really into KoRn and nu metal, so I kind of got myself dreadlocks and added some variety to my list, Coal Chamber, Mudvayne, Faith No More, RATM etc. I also started with Sonata Arctica and Nightwish, that grew very dear to me. Well, after that, I had a break with metal for a while, exploring classical and dubstep / electro, but I wanted to reignite my love for metal with exploring what death metal and black metal got to offer. Also at the time folk metal was starting to be popular. So, it's, right now, kind of hard to say what I listen to. I'm really into black metal lately, Burzum and Immortal especially. I also like to explore the weird side of metal, like slamming brutal death metal... But, if you would ask me what my favorite modern metal bands right now are, I'd have to say Gojira, Ghost and Mastodon. I somehow feet that they really added something new to the genre...
  2. I'm really into Rotting Christ lately. Their songs make me feel I'm somewhere else, however dark that world may be... It still feels better than this one. It's similar with Dimmu Borgir, especially Stormblast MMV. I don't know, something about that album just resonates with me, and I often find myself falling asleep listening to it at night. Actually, I've never been an Immortal and Abbath fan, but lately I've been addicted to them. When listening to All Shall Fall or Abbath's solo stuff, I feel like I'm some great warrior fighting through all the crap in my life... Unfortunately, I cannot name one song specifically that affects me. Thinking out of all the ballads out there that elicit a severe emotional response, it would be Helloween's "Forever and One" and Ozzy's "I Just Want You".
  3. Thank you! Hi! Just trying to get through all this Christmas joy and happiness stuff... How about you?
  4. Hi everybody! I've been listening to metal and playing electric guitar (just amateurish stuff) since high school. Except for my family, I have very few friends that are into metal. So, I'm hoping to fill this void, and see what's happening around here.
  5. Can you really "quit"? I don't think it should be a rational decision. Personally, I just listen to whatever I want. Sometimes I do listen to more blues, jazz or classical or electro or whatever catches my ear, or peeks my interest, but metal is just more prevalent on my playlists and I keep returning to it even if I do stray for a while. There's stuff in metal that I'm emotionally attached to, and even if it gets boring to me, sooner or later I will want to relive the emotions some albums have imprinted on me. Also, metal is kind of the musical language that I understand the most when compared to other genres. I cannot quit it, it will always be a part of me.
