  1. Currently drinking some kind of IPA that my boss homebrewed that is way too smooth and easy drinking for being an estimated 8.5%. Shit's deadly. I'm definitely gonna feel this tomorrow lol.
  2. How do you know if someone is on the carnivore diet? Oh, it's easy. They will fucking tell you.... over and over again.
  3. Det Eviga Leendet - Reverence (2022)
  4. Gevurah - Gehinnom (Black Metal, Canada) One of the better Quebecios black metal bands (and there are many of them). Super stoked for this one. These guys haven't released anything other than great material. Releases Oct 14.
  5. Negative Plane - Stained Glass Revelations These guys have been steadily climbing the ranks of my favourite bands this past year.
  6. Aosoth - The Inside Scriptures Aosoth - An Arrow In Heart One of those bands where I'd consider myself a pretty big fan, and should listen to them more often, but they, and many others, are constantly lost in the shuffle of me failing to strike a good balance between checking out new music and listening to what's already in my collection. Too much good music gets forgotten about on a regular basis, feels good to revisit.
  7. Not much else to get excited about in Canada these days.
  8. Autonoesis - Moon Of Foul Magics (Black/Thrash, Canada) "Take all the best parts about death, thrash, black, and trad metal and pack them together into one remarkably cohesive album. That’s this record. It’s so goddamn good." - Some guy on bandcamp Yeah, pretty much. This is easily one the best albums you'll hear this year.
  9. Darkthrone - Astral Fortress Looks like we're getting a new Darkthrone album already! How about that album cover!! Lol, I think it's great personally. These guys truly do not give a single fuck. Set for release October 28.
  10. Inquisition - Black Mass For A Mass Grave While we're still on the subject of album lengths, this is a textbook example of a "long" album (65 minutes) that doesn't feel long at all.
  11. I'm all abord the Blackbraid hype train. That album fucking rules. The plebs and casuals have got it right this time. And the fact that the true kvlt incels are raging against it earns it extra points in my book.
  12. Blackbraid - Blackbraid I (2022) Probably the most hyped black metal album of 2022. But..... I think the hype is actually deserved in this case.
  13. Temple Koludra - Seven Sirens to a Lost Archetype
  14. Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
  15. Final Eclipse - Interminable Darkness (Black Metal, USA) So the word on the grape vine is this new project features at least one member from the mighty Death Fortress and I'm inclined to believe it. This is pretty much identical to Death Fortress, like, a logical continuation of that sound. Sign me up! This is really really good.
  16. Devil Master - Ecstasies of Never Ending Night (2022) I'm a bit late to this one and shame on me for it. This shit rules!! \m/
  17. Abduction - Black Blood (Black Metal, UK) The last 2 albums from this project were really freakin' good and this new track sounds very promising. Looks like they've evolved from a one-man act into a full band too. Album releases Oct 21.
  18. There's definitely a lot of Finnish black metal that I really enjoy, but I'd put that country in the "quantity over quality" category when it comes to their black metal output. For every thirty or so black metal albums that come out of Finland, I might actually like one of them enough to purchase. NP: Human Serpent - Inhumane Minimalism
  19. Because a many of those labels feature some overt NS bands on their roster (Werewolf records, for example), and Bandcamp was recently purchased by a larger corporation who likely wanna keep their image and their hands clean of that type of stuff.
  20. Aaaaaaaand I think I'm gonna skip 92 as well since my list is about 80% identical to Surge's list and I don't think anybody needs to see the same list twice... 1993 10. Rottrevore - Iniquitous These guys were making filthy caveman death before it was cool. And doing it better. 9. Varathron - His Majesty at the Swamp See RelentlessOblivion's comment. He beat me to the punch. 8. Rippikoulu - Musta Seremoni Technically a "demo" but it's a demo that happens to be better than many proper full lengths. Jampack filled to the brim with doomy and gloomy ooze. A death/doom kvlt classic! 7. Mystifier - Göetia Black metal the Brazilian way. Evil, dark, rotten and primitive. Yeah.... I guess this could actually describe many different strains of black metal, but these guys definitely did things their own way. 6. Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence Fantastic album. We all like it, right? I don't have much more to say. The record is good. 5. Anti Cimex - Scandinavian Jawbreaker I see the Goatmaster has Disfear on his list. That's a good one too, but for me, Anti Cimex takes the crown for best Swedish D beat album of '93. 4. Immortal - Pure Holocaust Grim, icy, frostbitten black metal from the frozen north. The way it was meant to be played. An early 90's BM standout. 3. Demilich - Nespithe Definitely an "elitists choice" death metal album if there ever was one. This was an acquired taste for me, and it took some time, but once I finally "got" it, oh boy, it was very rewarding. The type of anomaly that comes only once in a generation. 2. Amorphis - Privilege of Evil Yes, it's an EP. Yes, all the songs on this EP came out a year earlier on the band's debut full length. However........ I vastly prefer this release. There's just something about it. The songs are somehow punchier, filthier, and just... well... sound better. The rougher production suits this group of songs better and quite frankly, I think this EP is perfect. This is my favourite death metal release of 93 and maybe even a top 10 DM release of all time. I love this thing. 1. Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon I like 'A Blaze In The Northern Sky'. I like it a lot in fact. But I do have some gripes with it. Under A Funeral Moon, I feel, is where Darkthrone really found their footing. Hell, I might even say it's where Norwegian black metal as a whole found it's footing and established itself as a cogent musical movement. Darkthrone set a standard with this album. A stone cold classic.
  21. Wake - Thought Form Descent (2022) Pretty much the only thing I've listened to for the past week. I like it. A lot, actually.
