Trhä - endlhëtonëg Trying this one out based on Sheol's recommendation. Five minute keyboard intro (that's never a good first impression lol) followed by overly raw, synthy bm. Not bad. I am growing tired of the "sound as terrible as possible on purpose" trend in black metal though.

I've tried really hard to get into Funeral Mist but they just won't click with me. Reminds me too much of that early 2000's "norsecore" stuff. But I guess they're better than what Marduk has been doing for the last 20+ years. NP: Drawn and Quartered - Hail Infernal Darkness

Immolation - Acts of God New song from the upcoming new album and it crushes, as expected. No release date yet from what I can find but I imagine that'll get announced very soon. Definitely sounds like modern Immolation and follows the path of their last handful of albums. I think it's fantastic and couldn't be more excited for the album. EDIT: Release date is Feb 18. Phrenelith - Chimaera (2021) Well, it finally happened. My most anticipated new album of the year finally releases aaaaaaaaaaaand...... it's a bit of a letdown, not gonna lie. Half the album is just a re-recording of their previous EP from 2017, so we only get 3 new songs. New songs are good, to be sure, but definitely not amazing. I guess it's my fault for my expectations being really high but it's hard not to when the band's last album was one of the best death metal albums of the last decade. Oh well, life goes on...

Yeah there's no denying Venom were extremely influential but I could never for the life of me get into or take them seriously. Even my 14 yr old self thought these guys were a joke. They definitely didn't age well. This live Venom performance rules though! \m/

I definitely get burnt out on new releases too. I've also noticed that I can get sucked into the rat race of only listening to new stuff and often neglect albums in my collection as it there's always a plethora of new ones to check out and only so many hours in the day. As far as sources go for new releases my bandcamp feed and reddit are probably my go-to's these days. No Clean Singing is only blog/website that I check with any regularity as they generally post some pretty cool stuff. I really do miss the new releases thread back on Metal-Fi as the crew there was pretty diligent with posting new stuff and there weren't too many albums that flew under the radar. I've definitely had to work a lot harder to find the good stuff since that forum shut down haha.

Archgoat - Worship The Eternal Darkness (2021) This album is really good, as expected. They're definitely drifting away from their pure bestial black/war metal sound and incorporating more 2nd wave-ish elements, which is perfectly okay with me.

No dice! Seasons 3-8 of the Simpsons was unfuckwithable. Futurama was.... okay. I remember it making me laugh at least once or twice.
