  1. Yeah, I think Monotheist is my favourite CF album just because it was the first one I heard. It's absolutely massive! Question is, is she hotter than Vanja Slajh who play in Triptykon?
  2. I must say that the Decibel list is quite varied and with some surprising inclusions. I liked the Sonja album, but I don't think I would put it on the top 10, much less top 5. Speaking of which... I have fuck-all for a 2022 list, been listening to a lot of music but haven't been arsed to keep a real list this year.
  3. I'm pretty sure those letters would be worth some if up for auction at the right place. Same with a complete collection of the DSP cds, especially in good condition!

From what I remember the Lead cenobite in the book (didn't even have a name), was androgonous and spoke in a high pitched, eerie voice. So if you want to get technical, Doug Bradley ruined Hellraiser!!!! The Cenobites are sadist demons from hell, you're lucky they have any identifying human traits all, much less sex. And I had no clue the lead actress was a transwoman. Had 0 impact on her performance and I'm sure that's not why she was cast.
  5. As a card-carrying lofi BM nerd, I didn't find anything special about this album... Not sure why people have gone nuts for it.
  6. I always feel that Meshuggah would be just as good or better as an instrumental band. Jens could do keyboards.
  7. Slave to the grind is a pretty gritty record for being from a 80's hair metal band.
  8. I used to hang on various forums as a teen, but the first proper music fourm board was White Trash Devil, they hosted a few death and stoner bands official forums and I found my way there thanks to being a fan of The Project Hate MCMXCIX. After the demis of WTD I moved on with a bunch of folks to form Global Domination webzine. After that conked I floated around for a bit until I stumbled on Metal-Fi via Angry Metal Guy. And then I ended up here. I don't know how long but I think WTD was active around 98-02 or something.... So 20-24 years? Wow.... shit.
  9. I think one of the reasons extreme metal will stick around for a long time is that it has proven to be very malleable. It can be co-opted by other genres, but it is almost inevitable that metal will incorporate other genres and influences and thus keep being "relevant" and attract new listeners. Just look at the influences from industrial, rap, shoegaze, hardcore, posthardcore, EDM and jazz. Does this mean everyone will like it? No, but keeping the genre semi-relevant will bring in new blood that will have the curiosity to dig back and fall in love with old farts like Morbid Angel, Darkthrone and whatever counts as a seminal band in 20 years. The mainstream metal feeds the extreme underground, and vice versa in a continous loop. Always has and always will. As for tourists being the proverbial locustswarm that ruins the genre before moving on, I do think that there will always be die-hard underground maniacs that are inspired by older acts, and continue make new "old" extreme metal. Just look at all the new BM and death acts of the past 5-8-ish years. They were all born after Morbid Angel shit the bed and Behemoth became a joke, but they still seek out second wave obscure Norwegians as inspiration, for example.
  10. You're an adult. I think at some point you have to decide where the line goes for you. Family disliking or disapproving of your choices can take different expressions and it's up to you to feel if they cross a line. While it may be lonely, sometimes your mental health will benefit from having reduced or no contact with your parents. Or you can talk it out. But the main issue, as others have pointed out, is probably that they don't understand your reasons, nor the way you express it. You can explain it, BUT it's up to them to be open to try to understand you. A person can only do so much if the other party is not willing to cooperate and do their part of the leg-work.

  13. I'm guessing much has to do with numbers. When there's a small circle of extremists views tend to homogenize, but as fame and notoreity increases the number of people in the scene there's an influx of different, less extreme views. Is this bad? Depends. Is it inevitble? Yes. My guess is that every movement 5-8 years removed from it's starting point will start to bitch about "the good old days", no matter the topic.
  14. You can have Skåne, they're worthless anyway.
  15. That was fucking awful. Never been a fan, but this was really bad.
  16. Yeah, that's how I feel too. They were yet to master the art of stringing riffs and sections into actual songs. At least on a consistant basis
  17. Although the album isn't out yet, but given his previous output and style, I think Erik Grönwall will turn out to be the best replacement for Sebastian Bach that Skid Row has ever had (not saying much, I know). The guy that sings for Accept has a very good voice, and to me he sounds more enjoyable and versatile than Udo.
  18. Decameron - My Shadow - Yay or Nay? Released 1996 Decameron was always in the B- or C-league of Swedish Melodic Black metal. Despite this they were far from bad, and I think My Shadow has some really neat songs/riffs, even though their lack of experience shows in the compositional elements.
  19. DADA BOTS already did that. They sampled Meshuggah and ran it through a AI algorithm. It's not indistinguishable from the real thing but given that this i 5 years old....🤷‍♂️
  20. I reckon that controling impluses and using reason are good things to exercise, preferbly coupled with empathy. delayed gratification is 100% under-appreciated in this day and age.
  21. I usually have music on at work, mostly metal, but when I have to really focus (like writing texts or emails) I need something with as little lyrics as possible, so then I usually switch to dungeon synth or ambient soundscapes like Lustmord. Or Pink Floyd, I almost always drift back to Pink Floyd for some reason.
