  1. Half of the band, namely the lead guitar player and the drummer, are also in Necromessiah, a 3-piece Italian black/thrash act with 3 albums out that're even better. Necromessiah - Antiklerical Terroristik Death Squad, Italy 2007
  2. Inexistência - From These Ruins Come Ancient Curses, EP raw Brazilian atmo-black 2024 Inexistência - Extinct... (The Coming of a Cursed Age) 2024
  3. The Killing - Maldito y Caotico, Argentinian deathgrind 2011 Tu Carne - Mondo Carne, Spanish goregrind 2010
  4. Force of Darkness - Darkness Revelation, black/thrash Chile 2010 Resilient - The Art of Resilience, Chilean death 2021 Ancient Crypts - Inhaling the Fumes of a Burning Carcass EP, Chilean death 2020
  5. ''Μνήμα'' (pronounced mniee-ma) means "Tomb" in Greek. "Καταραμένα Λείψανα" is "Cursed Relics." Unfortunately in their ambition to sound 'raw' they've completely ruined this album and rendered it unlistenable. I generally love diy underproduced stuff for the most part, but in this case I just hear static. Can't even hear the vocals to see if they're comical. Worthless garbage.
  6. Cancerbero - Reconquering the Throne of Death, Chile 2019 Sadistic - Surrounded by Evil, Chile 2016
  7. Moribund Scum - ...Only Death, German stenchcore 2020 Corrupted Human Behavior - S/T, Portuguese stenchcore 2020
  8. Invincible Force - Satan Rebellion Metal, black/death/thrash Chile 2015 Invincible Force - Decomposed Sacramentum 2020 Communion - At the Announcement, black/death/thrash Chile 2017
  9. Hellgate Necrosodomy - The Annihilation Deliverance, Finland, this shit right here...yep The Door Is Not Locked - S/T Germany 2020, atmospheric Schattenfall - Das Verderben, Germany, slow burn black metal
  10. At the risk of incurring the wrath of FA, I really like that cover art. Looks like they reinvigorated it with a new color palate for the reissue. On the fence about the music though. It's serviceable for South American death metal circa 1996, I'll make it through 'til the end no problem. So not bad, but it's nothing special, I wouldn't be looking to buy this. Production's a bit thin, maybe that's what my problem is. There are a lot better SADM album than this imo, but maybe I've just been down the brutal death rabbit hole for a few weeks now and I could be having some trouble acclimating as I come back up for air. Not really hearing a lot of thrash here, but maybe I just misunderstood you. Not hearing any Angelcorpse or any Sodom. South America certainly has produced a ton of great death/thrash over the years though, at least on that much we can agree. These dudes definitely have some potential, I think maybe I'll check out some of their other albums and compare. Masacre - Total Death, Colombian death 2004. This album cover kinda sucks, but the music is a bit better, and the production as well, fuller sounding, more deathlier. Good shit. Yes, I would think about buying this. Masacre - Muerte Verdadera Muerte, 2001. This one's sort of halfway between the '96 one Sacro you posted and the one from '04 just above this. Yes this shit is right up my alley. Not sure if there are two vocalists here, the low register vocals are good, the higher shrieky ones not so much. But I can't let that ruin it for me, this music is very good. Probably my favorite of their albums. Masacre - Brutal Aggre666ion, 2014. This one's a bit newer, more generic homogenized death metal sound. I definitely like it though, lots of cool lead work, same 2 guitarists so I guess they must've learned how to play a little better by 2014. Their first album Reqviem from 1991 isn't very good, kind of amateurish with pretty shitty production. Fair enough, it was '91 in Colombia and they were probably just kids at the time so I can forgive them. But I'm not gonna bother posting the video for that one. So my Colombian Masacre rankings are as follows: Muerte Verdadera Muerte #1, Total Death #2, Brutal Agre666ion #3, Sacro #4, Reqviem #5. All of them have something to offer and are worth hearing except for the debut I guess which I would skip. For fans of underground South American death metal anyway. The Pantera peeps probably wouldn't be interested.
  11. I haven't listened to the radio in over 20 years since they invented ipods and I could bring my music with me in the truck. But that album got so much play over here back when it came out that those 2 songs were probably ruined for me by the early 90's. Pharmacist/Fluids - Feeling Young split LP goregrind/deathgrind Japan/AZ 2021, it's always cool when two bands you really like do a split together. Oozing/Pharmacist - split deathgrind/goregrind AZ/Japan 2020
  12. Brodequin? So you're going br00tal on us now Mark? Interested in hearing your thoughts on this one sir. I happen to really like it a lot, but I would've thought it was probably a bit too extreme for you to get fully onboard. Brutality for brutality's sake and all. Coffins - Sinister Oath, Japan, Loving this new Coffins, been playing it a ton the last few days. These dudes are in top form and can do no wrong, their last album was killer too like most of their albums. Might try this one if you want something new that's heavy as fuck but maybe just a little more accessible than Brodequin. And lemme know when that new Witch Vomit drops, their stuff's usually pretty good. Must admit I really liked this album in the late 80's. Had it on vinyl with the original cover. But that was a long god damned time ago. A lot's happened since then. And the radio really wore some of those songs out, at least over here. I'd rather get punched in the face than have to hear Welcome to the Fucking Jungle or Paradise City ever again. But I think some of those other tracks could still be cool.
  13. Crucifix - Visions of Nihilism, Compilation of 3 demos (1991-1994) Dallas Texas Necrosanct - Incarnate, UKDM 1992
  14. Happy Easter Sinners! Or happy day after Easter for any unfortunate souls who might be trapped down under. I would happily disregard this holiday altogether, but the kid still wants me to hide plastic eggs filled with chocolate around the house for him to discover. So I oblige him. The trade-off being he has to listen to my god is utter nonsense for gullible weak-minded sheep sermon. Demonic Sacrifice - Enter the Realm of Pure Darkness, Rochester NY 1997 Goatkraft - Sulphurous Northern Bestiality, Norway 2019
  15. Aborted - The Purity of Perversion , deathgrind Belgium 1999 Splattered Cadaver - Merciless Butchery, BDM Milwaukee, WI 2001 Coprobaptized Cunthunter - Failure Prosthesis, brutal death/grindcore Russia 2010, that snare ugh
  16. Their first full length 3 years before that one, Summoning Black Gods is an absolute classic in my world, one of the best nwosdm albums of the decade. I enjoyed Repetitive Art as well, but that was a much different more updated sound. Then Eye of the Storm 3 years later in '18 was pretty much garbage, so I'm pretty well done with them now. "Fallen off a cliff" tells me I have no need to check out the new one. First album will still get spins though, it's too good. Profanatica - Crux Simplex, 2023 Profanatica - The Curling Flame of Blasphemy, 2016
  17. Nephrectomy - Meat, slam/BDM Denver 2022 Profanatica - Rotting Incarnation of God, USBM 2019
  18. Windhand - Eternal Return, Richmond VA 2018 YOB - The Illusion of Motion, Portland OR 2004
  19. Disinterment - Endless, dm Richmond VA 1995 Broken Torso - The Ultimate Abhorrence, BDM Austria 2000 Broken Hope - Repulsive Conception, BDM Chicago 1995
  20. Eternal Suffering - Drowning In Tragedy, BDM Boston Mass 1999 Suffocation - Pierced from Within, BDM NY 1995
  21. Nocturnal - Arrival of the Carnivore, German blk/thrash (2005) Slaughter Messiah - Black Speed Terror (EP 2013) Sex Messiah - Metal Del Chivo compilation, raw af blk/thrash 2022 Japan/Bolivia
  22. Listened to some of that new Betelgeuze the other day, then tried it again earlier this afternoon when I saw your previous post, but it wasn't really doing it for me. I remember their first album from 2014, bought it, I played it several times that year, thought it was alright, but I haven't been back to it in the decade since 2014. Missed their 2nd album in 2017 altogether, and basically forgot about them til this new one dropped. Stoner doom essentially, I know they're supposedly death/doom with some stoner elements mixed in, but I'm not hearing much death here, it just sounds like stoner doom to me. Not entirely unenjoyable, I don't mind it but I didn't make it 'til the end, I got bored and changed the channel. I'll go back to hear the rest of it at some point when I feel a bit more in the mood for that kind of thing. Generally though when it comes to the 'hard doom' as you often call it, sludge is more my speed. I dig stuff like Dopethrone from Montreal which I would call stoner/sludge, but it has the harsh vocals. Betelgeuze has more pure heavy metal influence, I prefer to have some punk in there. Guess I'll check out your Coffin Storm, since it seems thrash is boss on this board now in 2024. Coffin Storm - Arcana Rising, Norway. Oh dear, guess I didn't read the fine print carefully enough. Yeah, these vocals are not going to work for me. I love the Underground Resistance too, it's actually one of my favorite Darkthrone albums. But somehow those silly vocals aren't working as well for me here with these guys. This sounds like they listened to The Underground Resistance a buncha times then got drunk and now they're giving us their parody of it. Condor - Unstoppable Power, Norway 2017, now this is more like it, the kings of Norwegian thrash. Nocturnal Breed - Fields of Rot, 2007, or are these dudes maybe the kings of Norwegian thrash?
  23. Except I said the entire year of 2024 so far. SO FAR, which is 3 months to date, and that has definitely already happened, Q1 2024 is history now, or it will be as of the day after tomorrow. Is it the "so far" you're having trouble with? Should I have said the entire year to date, would that have made more sense to you? You said a week does not make a year, so I said we could extend my hypothesis out to include the entirety of 2024 so far, meaning the last 3 months, and there would still have been more thrash than black metal posted. Why are you being so intentionally obtuse about this? Now I haven't checked the data so I can't say for sure, but it just might be true that in 2023 there could possibly have been as much or more black metal posted here on these pages than thrash. But here in the new year so far it seems to me that the pendulum has clearly swung the other way. Alright I'm done explaining myself to the likes of you, let's hear your fatuous comeback now. NP: Chainsaw - Hill of Crosses, black/thrash Greece 2019
  24. Humanity's End - Between Life and Death, Detroit death metal 2017
  25. The entire year of 2024 so far has absolutely happened. Unless "so far" is just too abstract of a concept for you to understand.
