    Horror Films

There's a few on there that I'll check out. I like Company of Wolves and Wicker Man, the original of course! Funnily enough, Sharon Tate was married to Roman Polanski who starred in and directed the Fearless Vampire Killers! I've started to watch Hannibal again, the series with Mads Mikkelson. That is really good and gorey! I also like the Japanese horror scene like Ring (unlike the watered down re-makes), and Audition. I'm also partial to a good zombie flick: World War Z, and a little French gem of a film: the Night Eats the World. As you say, there's so many to choose from! Although I do tend to veer towards foreign films.

You've pretty much mentioned all my favourite vamp films! The Fearless Vampire Killers is pretty good too. I haven't seen the updated version of Let the Right One In, and not sure if I want too! Only Lovers Left Alive is a good one as well. And of course From Dusk Till Dawn! I had not heard of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night; I've just looked it up and it seems intriguing! Any other recommendations??

Favourite is House of 1000! Ha ha re: BLD dolls! I find the old Victorian dolls with those eyes freak me out a bit! They just sit there, in their old fashioned garb, just staring.........I'm sure their eyes move and follow you around the room! Have you a favourite vamp film?

I do like a good vampire film! I'm debating whether to watch Mother! but I liked Black Swan so I might do. Do you like the Rob Zombie flicks? A bit distressing to watch sometimes but bloody good films!

Yes it is a prequel. Pretty much the same formula as the original only with crappier special effects. I've never seen Salemn's Lot - I'll give it a go.
  6. Drudkh Blood in our Wells. This artwork, a painting by Vasily Perov, made me buy the album without knowing who Drudkh were. I love the desperation of it and how complements the music perfectly.
  7. Yes they are fantastic! My first listen was Subconscious Dissolution into the Continuum (what a title!) and I haven't looked back. Unlike some Doom bands, the riffs are truly depressive.
  8. My Dying Bride Cathedral Esoteric Mournful Congregation
  9. I didn't really get into their last two albums. Garden of Unearthly Delights is one if their best I think. I've seen them twice and they're fantastic live! Lee Dorian always makes me think about buying some flares! But then I realise how stupid I would look............
  10. Black Dragons Soar Above the Mountains of Shadows - Bal Sagoth. It just sets up the rest of the album perfectly. And it is a perfect album........

Yes I liked The Witch also! Not too keen on the stalker type though. I watched The Thing (recent one) the other day; a bit 'meh'.
  12. Hi Parker, thanks! The first album I listened to fron Månegarm is Vredens Tid. On a par with Dödsfärd I think. Thanks for the recommendation: I'll check them out!
  13. Thanks blaaacdoommmmfan! Not sure which album is my favourite: Likferd or 1184. Both are fantastic!
  14. Mmm, yes, he was good also but didn't have the range of Marco I think. I once read a review saying Rainer's vocal performance was 'homicidal' whilst Marco's was 'suicidal'.
  15. This film is really quite good. And contains the best suicide scene in film. The acting is a bit hammy but it strangely adds a bit of authenticity to it.
  16. Top 5 vocalists: 1. Marco Kehren from early Bethlehem and Deinonychus. He is the only vocalist that makes me physically depressed! I've not heard of any other vocalist that comes close to his shrieking and groaning 2. Matthias Blåd from Falconer. Just a pleasure to listen to. Listening to Falconer's debut album, his vocals really made the album. 3. Roman Saenko from Hate Forest, Rattenfänger. His vocals fit in perfectly with every album he sings on. So deep and evil sounding. Hate Forest wouldn't have been the band they were without his vocals. 4. Jeff Walker from Carcass. The sounds he makes just defies belief. It sounds as though his vocal cords are shredded! His vocals made Carcass stand out from the rest of the death metal at the time and still does 5. Barney from Napalm Death. He's not the greatest sounding vocalist but boy can he belt it out. The sheer energy of his singing is fantastic and fits in perfectly with NDs music. He makes you want to trash the living room!
  17. Mgla: Age of Excuse. Rattenfänger: Geisslerleider Both fantastic albums.

Nice! I like 'odd' horror films rather than straight out gore. Mind you, the gore can be quite entertaining: Hobo with a Shotgun anyone?

Calvaire is, erm, an interesting watch to say the least!

Twin Peaks 2, is probably one of the most psychadelic things I've seen! A couple of good horror films: Switchblade Romance, and Calvaire.

    Books?

I'm waiting for the next Raymond E Feist book! Although he has gone off the boil a bit.......
  22. I normally rate and enjoy the albums that are the most depressing. Songs of Darkness and The Light at the End are probably the most depressing for me. Not sure if someone else has mentioned it before, but the albums that had a MDB moniker with "clean lines" had clear vocals throughout; albums with the more "extreme" moniker contained death growls from Aaron.
  23. My Dying Bride: A Doomed Lover Sentenced: End of the Road
  24. Top 5 are: Windir My Dying Bride Napalm Death Mayhem Trollfest
  25. I first heard about metal when I was at school, and noticed a kid with a t-shirt with some decapitated heads on spikes and "Slayer" written above. My first albums were Iron Maiden No Prayer for the Dying and Motorhead's 1916. I wanted to rebel when I was younger and this was the perfect avenue. I haven't looked back since and consider metal to be a life saver!
