  1. Powerwolf - Sacrament of Sin. It's like a fricking film soundtrack!
  2. I've never heard of these guys, I'll check them out. Cheers.
  3. Do. They are still brilliant. Just finished listening to Kreator - Pleasure to Kill.
  4. Powerwolf - Blood of the Saints.
  5. The Witch "Damn you.....damn you to hell"
  6. Bethlehem - Sardonischer Untergang im Zeichen Irreligiöser Darbietung
  7. I can safely say I've never heard of Chelsea Wolfe. I'll check her music out though: cheers!
  8. The Meads of Asphodel - Running Out of Time and Doing Nothing
  9. Cannibal Corpse - A Skeletal Domain.
  10. Thekevorkiansolution - allsymbolsarebastards.
  11. Yes probably not the best song to put on if you're feeling fragile! How Soon is Now is pretty depressing also.
  12. Well put. Yes, this world is run by marketing and sensationalism. But that's another topic, I fear.
  13. It's odd: I just don't find that song depressing or miserable. There's a few albums I'll check out, thanks. For non-metal misery, I tend to head for classical. Handel's Lascia Ch'io Pianga is a particular favourite, together with Albinoni's Adagio for strings and organ. In my youth, I was into Manic Street Preachers and they had a few depressing numbers.
  14. The most depressing albums for me are the following: My Dying Bride: The Darkest Hours - from start to finish, this is a slab of misery. There is literally nothing jovial about this album, and Aaron sounds his best. Drudkh: Blood in our Wells - it took a while to get into this album, but once I did I fell in love with the melancholic black metal riffing. "Solitude" is a fantastic song, it just drains the positive energy out of you! Sentenced: The Funeral Album - there are uplifting parts to this album, but overall it is miserable. Her Last 5 Minutes will bring a tear to your eye for sure. Katatonia: Viva Emptiness - this album is a grower and boy is it bleak. The guitar sound is so fitting to this album: melancholic and drifting. And the singing just lulls you to a depressed darkness. Poisonblack: Of Rust and Bones - this is my go to album for being miserable. "Invisible" alone on this album hits the mark. Again, there are a few uplifting songs to temper the darkness, but songs like "Alone" and "Buried Alive" just bring straight back down. This is my short list, what's on yours? It would be good to see what other people recommend as well!

Yes he is very fascinating. His birth place is as you would expect it to be! I've been to Whitby quite a few times: love it there!
  16. I listened to Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult the other day and realised that I recognised the female vocals: Onielar also sings for Bethlehem!

Oh excellent! Some good recommendations from him then. I've just checked out Something Evil, and it's not Spielbergery at all - thanks. I used to watch all the horror films late on the BBC when I was younger, just don't seem to have much time now. I like to read about vampires and the occult and I read a book recently about the real Dracula - Vlad Tepes (I've been to Vlad's birth place in Romania). It was really good and gorey! He was a bit of a psycho, but did fight off the Turks quite a few times which made him a hero in the country.
  18. Welcome! I've joined relatively recently and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Where do you find these from?? I've not heard of any these titles! I'm not a massive fan of Spielberg to be honest; his earlier stuff is ok so I might check out Something Evil. I have heard of Tomb of Ligeia but not seen it - it's got Vincent Price in so must be good!

I saw a bit of What We Do in the Shadows and it did look good! I knew the Whistle and I'll Come to You was going to be old when you mentioned Michael Hordern - just checked on Youtube; will watch that as well! I watched Witchfinder General the other day: such an underrated film. I love the 1960's and 70's horror genre; cheesy but so watchable!

Jordskott was fantastic! I wish they would bring out another series. Red Dragon was ok yes; Hannibal Rising was quite good also. Not read any of the Hannibal books though. Loads to watch instead!

I love the Nordic crime scene. I've got loads backing up on Netflix to be watched! Including Wallander. Yes that scene in Company of Wolves stands out for me too. Ok, I'll give the remake of Let the Right One In a go...... Jury's out for me regarding The Snowman. It was well shot by there was something missing.
