You probably like Trollfest, Finntroll, Falconer, Thyrfing, Korpilklaani, Equilibrium. Have you checked out The Meads of Asphodel? Down the symphonic route, I like Bal Sagoth and Carach Angren. I'm also getting into Skyforger at the moment as well.
I think lyrics do matter. The experience of listening to, say, My Dying Bride would be lost without the melancholic lyrics. And if you didn't know what Cannibal Corpse or Desecration were singing about, it would take the edge off the music.
Hey, not bad. I like the album covers, very folk like! I can't stop listening to Månegarm's Vargstenen at the moment, which is an album that has revived my interest in the folk metal genre.
Welcome Harrack! I too enjoy Rammstein and Powerwolf. Not too keen on Rammstein's latest, and I can't stop listening to Sacrament of Sin. I haven't checked out Lindemann though.
Mithotyn - Gathered Around the Oken Table.
Megadeth - Rust In Peace (I'm trying to learn Holy Wars on guitar so listening to the album for the 2 billionth time).
Agreed. The album is better than Feel the Misery, and unmistakenly MDB but there's just that something that doesn't sit quite right and I can't put my finger on it.
I'll return to Carach Angren's Laugh and Dance Amongst the Rotten to ponder......
Top for me is Megadeth. They're the most technical of the 4, and the first metal band I got into.
Slayer is second. Seasons in the Abyss was a staple for me when I was younger.
Metallica third. Early albums were good but after the Black album they just got boring.
Anthrax fourth. I have listened to a couple of albums and they really don't have the same impact as the other three bands.
