Every job has it's perks, some people take them too far but even taking a pen home from work is technically theft, but how many every get sacked for a pen? I've got a mate who used to deliver beer and he got 2 free slabs of beer (24 cans = slab) a week, he didn't have to take it, and they didn't remind workers they could, it was just a perk. Eating something I was supposed to be delivering was hardly going to be a crime, especially when I minused it off the shop order so they weren't charged for it.

That's alot of beer. 48 cans a week.   I do forget some Aussies are super drinkers. I once drank 24 cans on the flight to New Zealand. My defense is it was a long flight 🤣✈️

At my work some people use the fuel card to fill up there own car but that is just stealing as far as I'm concerned. Last guy who got caught doing this was sacked.

The peanut butter and jelly monster: Dávila Ortiz, Rebeca: 9781671749245: Amazon.com: Books

Well no Sweets, it's not quite the equivalent, pb&J sammies are something people pack in their kid's lunch. But I wouldn't eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich either. That's nasty, and it's basically just for kids. Don't remember eating very many of them even as a little kid, I ate luncheon meat sandwiches, turkey, salami, cheese, liverwurst and the like. Even my 8 year old doesn't ask for pb&j anymore. When he did he liked them deconstructed, peanut butter on one which he'd eat first, and then the jelly on the other. As an adult I don't have many uses for peanut butter, or jelly either for that matter, but I suppose as a toast topping either would be infinitely preferable to any fucking yeast extract. Seems our refined Doc doesn't like store brands, he holds out for the good stuff haha.

Cream Cheese Bagel - Belle Surf Cafe - Bagels in Lahaina, Maui

No, I believe our nearest American equivalent to yeast extract toast might be a bagel with cream cheese. Something my kid likes so I keep them in the house. But I don't eat much of myself because bagels are just carbs and I don't generally eat anything until well into the afternoon anyway. But if I were to eat a bagel, I'd have eggs and sausage and cheese on it, not cream cheese spread.

But that's probably as close as we get 'cause Americans just don't generally eat lots of different junk 'on toast' like you Brits and the Commonwealthers seem to endlessly enjoy. We don't have crumpets either. There really is no direct equivalent to yeast extract toast here. Something I only know about because I used to make it for my Kiwi wife. She said I was the best at getting the exact right amount of her imported Marmite on there (not too much) and spreading it nice and evenly without ripping the bread. She had a hard time not ripping the bread.

But I'd never even heard about any of this yeast extract nonsense before I met her. Or maybe only in that song Land Down Under where the dude mentions vegemite sandwich. But I'd always assumed that it was some kind of veggie spread maybe mixed with cheese or something that you could make an actual sandwich out of. Never in a million years would I have guessed it was a tar-like salty yeast extract excrement.

So to answer your question Sweets, yes I have tried it. And after she died the two jars of that shit she had in the cabinet went straight into the bin.

Interesting re peanut butter sandwiches. Didn't realize it's more just for the kids snack in USA. I just have peanut butter out the jar. No bread no jelly. I'm a purist you see.

Bagels. I dislike those as much as you dislike yeast extract I suspect. There just too carby and heavy and not a fun eating experience. More of a case of I need to finish this rather than it's so tasty there is not much left. My daughter's love eating bagels every day if they can. An amazing breakfast I had in Vegas was ruined by the extra bagels. That's all I can remember about one of the best breakfasts I've had.

Well done for trying marmite. I'd recommend Tesco yeast extract as it's the best taste and value as far as I'm concerned. Excellent work getting the right amount on for your kiwi wife. If it's put on like jam then that's good for me. This is also reason I'm probably going to give it up. That amount of salt can't be good for me or anyone

Re marmite I agree I think its bit weird. It's as far as I'm concerned bit like putting stock on toast. How's that standard.  I only eat it because my wife buys it. Sweets are what I go for, as you know 😉

Yeah it was theft and trading bread for other goods was frowned upon, but never followed up on when it was only a crate here or a crate there. It was also mostly day old bread, we were the only bakery that returned day old bread from the stores, white and meal went to breadcrumbs the rest went to pig farmers. Farmers never paid a cent for what they took, they only had to ask for it in writing, and they could only take from a certain stack. But we (our depot) donated about 1000 loaves a week to schools, raffles, sausage sizzles etc and it was all day old, so no one was counting what actually went back to the bakery for crumbing.

If drivers were caught trading fresh bread they'd loose their job but no one ever lost their job for trading a few loaves of day old bread. We also got 4 loaves of white/meal per day as a standing order and if we wanted items like crumpets etc often we'd just order extra and minus it off the load as damaged stock. No one I know of ever got sacked for nicking a packet of hot piklets when the minused it off the store order. One driver (out of about 1300) did get sacked for nicking a packet of Hot Cross Buns one night instead of ordering his own but the unions took on his case and got him his job back, with a written warning that was worth nothing in the long run, and got the bakery to bow down to one packet a week per driver for the months they were delivered.

I ate some of the food when I was working at a fast food restaurant. I was counting what was thrown into the bin. Ok it was wrong to do this as is stealing but management did not mind as it was only being thrown away anyway. Like in your case if I'd eaten a few fresh ones that were good enough to sell that was a sackable offence. No question.

Yes, I can't wait!  August 14 is gonna be epic!  They're already such a heavy band because of how downtuned their guitars are.  But in a live setting, it literally makes your teeth rattle.  It's crazy!  My favorite album is their 1996 release "Broken Glass", followed closely by their 1998 release "Odd Fellows Rest" and their 2014 release "Symmetry in Black".  Out of all 12 albums, I enjoy every single one, though.

That's awesome that you're seeing Conjurer!  What's your favorite song from their new album?  I do enjoy some doom every now and then, so I'll make sure to check out more of their stuff.  What's their best album, in your opinion?

Conjurer are a excellent band as far as I'm concerned. They get lots of support from the heavy music magazines in the UK which is deserved as far as I'm concerned as I like the music.   It dwells is a track I like alot from new album pathos so heavy but with light sections . Having two lead vocalists works well too. They do different vocal ranges which I like alot and they complement each other excellently. Favourite album id say mire. Although new album pathos runs close it close. I'm looking forward to seeing them live in November. There going to rock out  so much. I may take my ear defenders. I don't know if there going to go motorhead on me 😉

Cool crowbar. I remember seeing them on late night TV and being very impressed with there sound and the heavy slow guitars. Rattling teeth for you with crowbar. Good thing I'm not going as  I'd probably get rattling knees as well. 😉bassy bands. Yeah when I saw pallbearer they were very bassy too and my cousin looked like he'd seen a ghost at the end of the show. It was his first metal show. Bless him😁talk about baptism of fire

Cool will check out those crowbar albums. There later stuff is excellent from what I've heard and the thrashy bits in there stuff was an unexpected bonus

You can see how much more naturally the Vegemite embraces and enhances the surface of the toast. Yum.

And Tesco Yeast Extract? Fuck me dead, they are having a laugh.

What's wrong with Tesco yeast extract.  It's fantastic. Your only jealous you can't import it.also you could get your kid to get some when he's in London. 😉

    Blechh.

Well done for tracking this picture down.

Have you tried one of these delicious yeast extracts on toast?

Is peanut butter and jam sandwiches an American equivalent as I don't know many people who like this combination. Most Brits I know only like jam sandwiches. A few call peanut butter and jam sandwiches vile which I think is  a bit over the top. A shit sandwich would be vile.😉

  7. It's whisky night at the vicarage. Completely missed the email. Hopefully they won't be offended by my t shirt with sacred blood divine lies on the back. 😉 Should be fun. Taking some 10 year old highland park. They normally have some good single malt scotch. Oban or cambletown I've liked before. My wife says as long as you don't black out your ok

Our Raw Heart is awesome!  I can't stop listening to it.  Fantastic stuff.

Yes, I'm afraid I'll have to book a ticket to Sweden to be able to see the mighty Bullet!  I just bought my ticket to see Crowbar next month, though.  They're one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time, and this will be the second time I've seen them live.  Incredibly heavy show!  I have all 12 of their albums.  If you're not familiar with them, they play a dirty, heavy style of groove-sludge.  Awesome stuff!

Crowbar live. Awesome your seeing them again. What do you mean the show is heavy. do you mean very loud

There a band I've not listened much but they are famous name. Back in the nineties I saw them on TV late night and was impressed. Not as much into groove metal as you but I do like some of it alot. What's your favourite album of theres

Im seeing conjurer in November which Im Looking forward to. Just got there new album which I'm liking alot. There a heavy metal band who are bit eclectic in influences. Quite a bit of doom in there though

I gave Vegemite a go. It's better than I remember. It's kind of half way between marmite which I don't like much and Tesco yeast extract which I do.  Thanks for the recommendation mate. 👍

All this rub your dog's nose in his poop business has got me to thinking. Do you think if we made you consume one of your 10kg bags of sweets all in one sitting that there's a chance that would make you sick and help you get past your sweet cravings and finally kick the habit for good? Sounds crazy, but you never know.

Eating 10kg of sweets would put me off for a time but only for a time. I used to overdo drinking alcohol.id always say never again  but I'm still drinking but I pace myself more now because I need to stop the bad hangovers and blacking out. I once took my kid swimming after drinking alot night before and it was alot. I was safe to drive per limits and stuff but it was no fun.

I've generally found with cats, that if they're going the bathroom anywhere besides in their box it's either because they're unhappy about something (because they can be spiteful little shits when they want to be) or it's a medical issue and it's time to haul ass to the vet. Despite the stereotype, I wouldn't say cats are necessarily "clean" creatures, they're actually little dirtballs...but by instinct they do want to bury their shit just to hide it from bigger predators so when given the choice they tend to prefer their box.

With dogs, I think it comes down to four things...I'm a puppy and don't know any better. My tummy hurt because I just ate an entire box of cheese danish when you weren't looking (true story). I had to go really bad and no one was around to let me out. I'm 100 years old in people years and had an accident while I was sleeping

    Good reasons.

Fortunately all our cats were not spiteful little ones.  All ours kept themselves super clean which is expected I'm guessing. I've heard from friends there cat is a right one and even a little untrustworthy. They did not leave that little kitty with the newborn baby on its own. There cat did not like losing the owners attention at all and the behaviour did change for the worse when the little one arrived. There cat was the joyful little creature who'd wee all over there house. They got the cat happy eventually. It was very grumpy after a house move

I watched a you tube video where they claim cats don't like to be stroked on the tummies. Apparently it's seen as an aggressive move. Do you know about this? Is there truth to it?  You tube is not always reliable. Have not had time to check this one yet.

My mum's dog ate a box of chocolates. She was just sick. An entire box of cheese Danish. Oh dear that's not good fortunately none of our pets did this.  Our dog once bit through the Christmas tree light power cable. After that yelp she never bit another chord again. She did live a long life after this. Honest😉

I was a big fan of StS when their 3rd album Hope came out in 2007. Marvelous doom metal album, can't recommend it highly enough for doom heads. Their 2003 debut album Morning Never Came is absolutely stellar as well. Now when their 4th album New Moon came out in '09 it was chock full of clean vocals and it took quite a bit of getting used to. They had always had some cleans scattered throughout many of their songs but they were always kept to just a little for contrasting effect. New Moon was more cleans than growling, and a bit more commercial sounding even though I did like about half of it. But it's the last StS album I can vouch for, everything that after that one was just boring to me and way too long. I was fortunate to see them at the Grammercy Theatre in NYC on the New Moon tour back in 2009 or '10 with fellow Finns Moonsorrow. Good show. Probably wouldn't bother to go see them now as their sound and my tastes have moved in opposite directions basically. But I think you might like them Sweets.

Swallow the Sun - Through Her Silvery Body

    StS - These Lowlands

    StS - Justice of Suffering

Thanks for the recommendation and the links, much appreciated. I will listen to these. I like there 2nd album ghosts of loss and the debut is pretty decent from what I've heard so far. I listen to music like this all the time so it's a good recommendation and it reminds me of albums I listen to already. Thanks for recommendation.

That's cool you saw them live. Were they any good? Were they as tight as they are on the albums?

I've got no issues with clean vocals although as long as it's done well and fitting the music. too much of the time I hear clean vocals that don't really fit the music. For me having interesting lyrics is a bonus but not the end all. Most of the music I listen to does not have clean singing though

It's cheaper than marmite. I've got no excuse not to get a jar 🫣 I can see why you don't like marmite as Vegemite is very different. Its essentially same product but it tastes so different

I can agree with that. I just tried baked beans and vegemite and while it wasn't terrible, I'm not sure I'd bother doing it again.. It doesn't get into the beans, and I wouldn't expect it too really, but it adds an interesting tang to the sauce.

This sounds bit better than marmite and honey. That was disappointing. Marmite toastie was excellent.did you try a Vegemite toastie.

Stock cubes are ok. I'm sure my wife knows I'm the big mouse taking a nibble here and there. 😉

That's an old tip that supposedly works for cats or dogs, but I'd strongly advise against ever actually doing it. Not only is it rather abusive, but it can create situations where your pet will try and hide their accidents in areas you may not see like behind or underneath furniture. Only thing worse than dealing with animal accidents, is not being able to find the animal accident in the first place

My mum's has used the nose in poo for a cat. My mum's also a fan of if a cat's shitting on your lawn to blast them with water pistol like a super soaker. My mum believes in those methods 100%. If I had a cat I'd definitely think about those methods if they were shitting not in the ash box although I'd want to reward good behaviour with treats and hope that would solve issue. Something on lines of getting a biscuit for every poo in ash box. Phasing it out once it was a habit for them

Re dogs pooing in the house. We've normally taken the dog to the poo and talked at length with looking at them and the poo. After that point our dog has never wanted to repeat the incident. It sounds crazy and should not work but it's worked for us.

Jeez man, now you're hitting me with Faroe Islands bands? I had to Google maps that shit just to see where in tarnation it was. Seems to be roughly equidistant from Iceland, Scotland and Norway but yet it seems they're part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Cool.

Anyway I've now paused the Obituary to check this out. But don't expect me to stay with it very long, I'm sorry Sweets but these clean vocaled parts are killing me. When it comes to doom metal other than maybe some legacy bands like: Candlemass, Solitude Aeternus, Black Sabbath and some Paradise Lost I can't really handle the cleans. And overall the tempo is quite slow. Not as slow as that funeral band Oak, but still this is pretty damn slow. I like a band that can mix up the tempos a bit more. Slow, slower, slowest is not cutting it for me. This is why I'm really not a doom guy.

So in summation I'll say I probably liked this a bit better than Oak or Conjurer, we're on the right track (sort of) but it's not something I would seek out to hear again in the future. I think this 22 minutes I've spent with Hamferd already will be quite sufficient. If I wanted some death/doom metal in this vein with clean vocals in addition to the growls I'd probably go listen to an old Swallow the Sun album or something.

    Hamferð - Photo

Goat master good on you for checking this band out. There likely the best band you've heard from Faroe Islands right. Plus I was right that you liked them bit more than oak and conjurer. Not much mind😉 Out of interest what's a black metal band you rate highly that is not so well known. Hamferd definitely fit this description for me at least.

Swallow the sun. I should check them out. I've heard some of there more recent music which didn't hook me. Probably worth hearing the early stuff👍

Totally regretted the dog last night when it shat on the floor behind me whilst I was playing Playstation!  😤

Yeah that is not good. Apparently if you rub a cat's nose in there shit shortly after it puts them off doing it again. Don't think this would work with a dog.

Any idea why the dog did it. Is the pooch very young.

I have heard some of YOB and really like their stuff!  I haven't heard that album, though, so I'll be checking it out shortly.

Unfortunately, I've never gotten to see Bullet play live.  I live in the States, and I'm not sure how often those guys tour over here.  I'm sure they tour all around their home country of Sweden, but if they ever come over to the States, I'll be right there on the front row!  Thanks for the heads-up on YOB.  I'm getting ready to listen to it now!

Have you heard "our raw heart" and what did you think.

Bullet probably don't tour United States much. You will have to go to Sweden to them 😉they've supported the mighty AC DC in Sweden shows. They play a handful of shows in Europe this year but most are in 🇸🇪 Bruce Dickinson played them on his radio show so it's pretty cool he's a fan too.

Dont know about Vegemite. I'd imagine I'd dislike it more than branded marmite😉Vegemite is available in UK but I have to pay import prices which puts me off.

Tried listening to Oak's Lone album. But it was so slow getting started that I fell asleep before the first song really got going. I try with doom every so often, because on paper I feel like I should like this. But what happens is when bands play this slow (at a funeral doom pace) I'll just get bored and lose interest mid song. They sound good though, I'd probably be into them if they could pick up the tempo and maybe write some actual riffs.

    OAK - Lone

Conjurer - Bloodstock 2021. Too modern and djenty sounding for me. I did like that they had some faster sections mixed in with the slowness. I get why you'd be into them though, and they look like they'd be nice blokes to have a beer with at the pub. Wanted to hear their last sudio album 'Mire' (new one Pathos won't be out til next month) but the whole thing's not up on Youtube, just a track or two.

I'm impressed you gave these a listen. The oak album is for me not amazing even for the genre but I liked it enough to buy it.  It's bit slow and almost like the musicians don't normally do this music.Oh wait they don't😉 but I still like all the atmosphere and the vocal sound. I'd recommend hamferd's tamsins likam album. That's a doom band which is had much more variety and I think there just a better band. Hon syndrast is a favourite of mine. Does this keep your interest even with it's slower pace

Conjurer live show is fairly good. I'm looking forward to seeing them live. They remind me at times of opeth with those clean and heavy bits.

Glad you liked Bullet!  They're certainly one of my top 10 bands of all time.  Udo Dirkschneider is a classic metal vocalist - originally in Accept and now in his own band called U.D.O.  His voice is very unique.

I'll definitely have to check out Mispyrming!  If it's rock 'n' roll meets metal, it's welcome in my collection.

Yes, I've certainly bought an album based on a few tracks, only to find out that those were the only tracks I could get into.  It's such a bummer!

I'm currently on a thrash kick - "M-16" by Sodom at the moment!

For mispyrming the album I recommended is the one I mentioned, I don't know about there other stuff.  You might not like it as it's black metal. Although Id say it's got lots of other influences in it so it's not just black metal. The review described it as black n roll but I'm hearing other influences other than those 2. Track 3 is really cool and catchy reminds me of rob Flynn vocals for machine head.

Have you heard of yob. I know not much of them. I just bought there my raw heart album which I'm liking. If you don't like the first recommendation. You may well like yob. Kind of doom, stoner doom for this album at least.

Accept I've heard some of there stuff. Yeah reminded me of acdc singing but with very catchy riffs. I'm not there biggest fan but will check out udo's solo career.

Im sure bullet are well happy you rate them so highly. Have you seen them play live

    Thanks for recommendation

    Also so sad.

Only every buried one pet - my Siberian husky who died last year on 29 December.  Still think about her every say even though I have a new pooch!

New pooch benefits from the memories though as I spend as much time as I can with her because I felt like I didn't enough with the old dog.

Well done re getting another dog after your husky died. I know too many people who  after there dog dies they don't get another one. They miss not having a dog or a pet but they don't get one.

Lucky new dog. I bet they appreciate the extra attention.

We had two rescue cats. As they never had a cat to raise them and train them. One of these called Sirius copied our dog. He used to growl. It was quite surprising. Very sad when he got hit by a car. He limped home but died. An artist friend did a plate picture which I like alot.

  23. I've bought oak's lone album. From transcending obscurity. It's got good vocal technique wow. Such a roar. It's a black metal band who are doing some atmospheric death/doom. Thumbs up from me 👍

Also got tickets to conjurer UK tour which I'm looking forward to. There one UK metal band I like alot.  really like the mix of doom, sludge and atmospheric music they do and looking forward to new album which drops early july
