  1. Aseitas----False Peace

HOLY SHIT HAS ANYBODY ELSE CHECKED THIS BAND OUT?

I stumbled onto them on BandCamp.  So heavy, vocals are guttural and dark, sometimes the mudic is melodic and maybe technical /progressive soumdimg, other times its heavy sludgy , and chaotic.  Only other band Ive had this reactiom to waa Conjuror.

Gonna grab one of the double LPs they have available for pre-orderr

    Love the vox!!!

No idea, sorry! I absolutely love the Baphomet cover (don't know who that's by either, but it really does it for me) ...but I always found the Banished one to be a little silly. Art is so subjective though eh. But yeah, for my money this is definitely where it's at.

Agreed--- really cool cover for this album

I've been listening to Neurosis' first album " Pain Of Mind" a lot lately and if anybody here are fsns of the band---- do you like Psin Of Mind?  Its very different compared to the later metal stuff.

Baphomet - The Dead Shall Inherit

    God I love this album.

If anyone hasn't heard Deliver Me Unto Pain by Banished, that is also recommended - same band, some of the same tracks, recorded later under a different name; also great.

I really want the Death In The Beginning aka Inheritors Of The Dead - a Baphomet demo recordings CD - again, featuring some of the same tracks. I am yet to find a copy, though :(

Is the album art ( I assume its the cover art I found on the YouTube listing for Banished) done by the comic book artist Tim Vigil?  Vigil did the incredible horror title Faust.  It looks like a Vigil piece.

Hair metal is one of the joys of rock n roll.

Motley Crue, Skid Row, Warrant (hail Jani Lane), 80s Whitesnake, 80s Kiss.

The energy, the enthusiasm, the coolness.

It’s the music that got me into metal, gateway bands all.

There’s family talk of a trip to California to see my sister in 2021 and I’m already planning my Rainbow Bar and Grill day.

Sebastian Bach was the greatest rock singer of all time. Untouchable.

Im not sure where I'd rank the man on greatest of all time ,but he'd be on the list.  Incredible range ,really emotive and sells whatever hes singing.  Skid's version of Little Wing......man tjats gpod,

He doesnt get his due tbough and that sucks - doesn't matter if he waa all glam-eed cocl roclec out or not......dude could sing.

LOL--- Not my bday today ,but I had the DarkThrone jones too.  Listened to some Bathory,Marduk, and am playing the shit outta Conjuror - Figbt Or Yield.

I hope somebody is though6ful enougb to either get you a warhammer, machete,or a piece of music that contains the word " eviscerate"  it in for your birthday!

    All dumbshit aside--- happy bday!

Lacking is a good way to put it. I don't want to put too much stock in my first impressions, but I have to admit I haven't developed a lasting connection with any of the material from latter-day incarnations of Swans. Are you a fan?

Not a huge fan ,but I didn't dislike rhem either.  I  find myself going back to bands I've listened to back in the day because of today's musical shitscape.

Swans - The Hanging Man (promo track)   ...really gonna have to hear this in context, it's not knocking my socks off. I may just not be in the appropriate mental state for this kind of repetitive songwriting right now. But then, isn't it their job as a band to get me there?

Agreed good sir........it doesn't sound bad per se......,but it is a bit lacking .

  9. What an incredible musician!!  From the technical aspects of music---- I'm about as refined as a hand sledge wrapped in duct tape ,but I do know what sounds good and Randy's guitar work was incredible.  I'll often listen to Dee and the hair still stands up on my arms and I get goose bumps......some 35 years later ( for me) -----I've had the good fortune to share Randy Rhoads with my daighters and I imagine somewhere across the world right now somebody is telling a child, a friend,a Wife " wanna hear something really beautiful" ----- then they drop the needle / hit play on  Dee

I'll second that, never got into Warrant though. I do hate Poison though and the pop side of cock rock. But the heavier side of cock rock I still like. I still listen to old Van Halen quite often. Some of the best singers were in cock rock, David Lee Roth, Axl Rose, Sebastian Bach, good stuff.

Agreed, all 3 were really powerful front men and imhp--- I'd say Sebastian Bach had the better set of pipes.  To this day I still crank up the volume and play " Wasted Time" by Skid Row .

LOL, was that supposed to be some kind of marijuana or WTF?

    LMFAO,

yeah--- nobody ding me for going off topic.

So one of the guys who were I went to high school with kept talking about his older brother Derek getting batches of " African Ceremonial Death Weed"  Said cannabis from the dark continent was reserved only for Tribal Shamans/ Necromancers who would smoke this gamja that was so powerful and supernatural---- it would produce the same euphoric effects as today's weed, hallucigenic effects of psylocibin snd L.S.D.,and ,the m8nd numbing effects of opium.

OF COURSE THIS WAS THE SAME GUY WHO SAID THE DRUMMER FROM Y&Ts MOTHER WAS A CASHIER AT OUR LOCAL K-MART AND WOULD BLESS FANS WITH FREE SWAG.

I figured that pursuing either--' African Ceremonial Death Weed  or Leonard Haze's mom would only lead to misery and ruination of the immortal soul and refrained from eitber

When I was just getting into extreme metal, I met some random kid in the parking lot of a strip mall that was into that sort of thing. We chatted, and he told me about a bunch of cool bands. That was cool, but here's the weird part: he told me that there was a black metal band called Vlad Tepes that recorded one demo, and then all the members killed themselves. I have never about this anywhere else. I have found there are two metal bands using the name Vlad Tepes, and neither of them committed group suicide. Has anyone heard of this happening with any group? It seems unlikely that the kid made it up, but I think it is probably an urban myth. This was probably in '95 or '96, and I had no access to the internet; few people did at the time.

LOL--- it may have been one of those things like my buddy in high school telling me there was something called African Ceremonial Death Weed.  Every dude I knew in a Metal Up Your Ass shirt was looking for it but..........

I don't know if you're familiar with Gorguts, but Negativa's self-titled EP picked up on the skronky, experimental stuff that Steeve Hurdle brought to "Obscura" and took it in an even skronkier direction. Not for everyone but I love it.

Thats actually really cool.  Odd as bell ,but cool.  Kinda like mixing DM with Primus

  14. Right!  I bought Slayer " Show No Mercy" based on the album art. My l8ve for that album was razzed about umercifully because my Metal friends would say " yhe singer sounds like he has his  dick in a toaster........here Iron Maiden and Judas are real bands."

They were all wesring Slatanic Wermacht shirts 6 months later.

So yeah, buying metal based on album art was a crap shoot ,but every npw and then you'd fond gems.

    Negativa (CAN) - s/t

My Dying Bride - As The Flower Withers

Oh sweet Aunt Mary's bloomers--- I just tried looking up Negative on YouTube and ended up getting a video from an 80s band called Thor.  Maybe rge song is " Anger Is My Middle Name"  Not for sure, but it can never be unseen/unheard.

Heathen's worldwide did a collective cringe.

  16. I have fond memories of getting 8 or 9 th generation cassette copies of Ride The Lightning when it was new , tape copies of Mercyful Fate  " Don't Break The Oath ",  a copy of Exodus " Bonded By Blood " and being turned onto Air Raid - RockForce " 69 in a 55 /  Anytime " on vinyl when my Aunt took me to see them at the Chabot College Battle of the Bands.

Honestly , I miss the old way,but the internet gives me so many more bands to discover. I'm loving it.

  17. Thanks!  I'm not sure how I ever missed out on BoltThrower.  I've loved stuff like Sick Of Ot All ( No tears era and Cro-Mags " Age Of Quarrel" -- hardest NYHC album ever made, but Bolt Thrower is heavy in a way I havent heard before.  1914 is heavy, hellaaaaa evil sounding and a pretty cerebral band.  So many bands which destroy  those metal misconceptions folks have.

Only drawback is collecting vinyl or discs or tapes and then getring turned onto these bands.  I need to pace myself.....lol.

  18. Thanks!  Yeah, isnt Hebry Kane,Heads For The Dead, and Fondle Corpse Swedish?  If so--- I seem to gravitate to the stuff from that part of the world.

Its great how ready to share folks are here.  Unfortunately in some of the Punk and Oi scenes can be really douchey and scene-ey and wont share what they like with others.
