I have been writing metal music since I was 18, I like most of the 70's 80's 90's metal bands. I'm not really into the newer ones like Clutch or Korn or anything like that, that stuff is all a bit too girlie for me. I like big riffs and solos from any instrument. Vocals are negligible. I play guitars in my band MARTHADOG which I formed in 1989, but with no real infrastructure for music in N. Ireland at the time we just played, created and got wiped out most of the time. We reformed in 2010 with a whole new understanding of technology gained by that time , but still no funds to do much. But I fumbled together a makeshift studio using an old PC and a few cables and produced an EP of 3 tracks which then went on release warts and all, on all digital platform at the time including iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Demand, Zune, etc etc, for the duration of 2010. A year later I had improved the production so much that I decided to withdraw the EP from all markets. Needless to say that the EP was not promoted simply because it was rough, but I just wanted to get it out there. Anyway, employment beckoned, bills needed paid and all the rest, and I have been Gradually building up layers and ideas since then. MARTHADOG now has an extensive collection on Soundcloud, many of the tracks are free to download from there.

  3. Glad i found this place so far. I've been working on some stuff I recorded several years ago and was hoping to post some track links and see how many frowns I can pick up from my guitar playing.
  4. OK dude. not a prob. thanks
  5. >>>>>> the REAL original GRUDGE METAL ANTHEM, Filthy Rich. Like I said, vocals are negligible. FILTHY RICH Rolling around in my riches, keeping an eye on all of my bitches. Drooling over my bitches.
  6. Hopefully it's obvious that no time was spent on these versions of these tracks, but considering we hadn't played guitars in over 6 years until "the weekend that was", when we recorded as many tracks as we could in the two evenings in the crappy little studio, I think we did ok under the circumstances. However in saying all of that, I have personally spent many evening per month for years now, mastering and remastering and remastering the low quality tracks into a few masterpieces. For example: The story of the way it was back then:-
  7. I know you've not heard of it until now, but here is what it sounds like... That was a bit soft, although that is as about as soft as we go. Something with a bit more beef in it now.
  8. Yes dude, thats always been my problem, Im a LEAN player now, always trying to fix or improve old riffs or twist each new riff into existence by some unseen hand, theory is great for learners. But playing a guitar is like brushing a yard, you can brush any way you like.
  9. thats what we call folk around here, heads. Anyway, Glad i found this place so far. I've been working on some stuff I recorded several years ago and was hoping to post some track links and see how many frowns I can pick up from my guitar playing. I invited Dave Mustaine to come play his riffs on my guitar after showing some of his riffs being played by me on my guitar, but he declined. I think the 10mm action terrified him, but you know that's what gives me my sound. but Dave is a legend and a massive influence on me.
