  1. Dear Metal Forumers, I wonder if you can help. I write features about music for a UK newspaper and I'm looking into the economics/ lure of touring in the wake of the recent Threatin story. Jered Threatin rightly got a lot of stick for lying to almost everyone. But I also think he did what he did because he loved playing live so much. And that is kind of noble and admirable. I would love to speak to any bands/ band members who consistently lose money touring - or find themselves playing to largely empty venues - but do it for the love of playing. To be clear, this is not a knocking piece. It's more that I want to find out what motivates a band to go on the road when they don't make money from it, or even have to pay to do it. I managed a metal band a few years ago and understand the thrill of playing live (or watching my mates playing live!). If you think you can help then I'd love to speak to you. Your band would obviously get a mention in the article on the paper's website (it's a national) but I'd need you to be honest about the reasons you go on the road, and examples of recent tours/ gigs. Many thanks, JFH
