I really can't stand it when people claim that good metal died in the 80s and early 90s. There is some superb metal being made nowadays and there's no point turning up one's nose at it. As a matter of fact, it typically demonstrates that said person simply hasn't been looking around enough.
If I'm perfectly honest, I prefer the metal being made nowadays. The kind of excellent prog and tech-death I've heard was a lot rarer in those eras than it is now.
