Immolation, Ulcerate, Angelcorpse and The Chasm are all bands I find excellent. Each one of them has a unique style I really appreciate. 

Ulcerate - Shrines of Paralysis. Better than Vermis, roughly on the same level of The Destroyers of All. Everything is Fire is still their best effort though. Looking forward to hear news from Paul Kelland and the others, a new album would be a fine surprise.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas. I finally decided to start an electric guitar course, which will hopefully help me to gain enough confidence to start recording music, and perhaps to start a band/label someday. 

I love "Shrines", and I also liked it better than I did Vermis. I get a nice sense of progression through their albums. "Destroyers" and "Shrines" are the two I listen to the most, but "Everything Is Fire" is fire too.
That's the one that really got me into them -- some of my online metal friends don't like it as much because of its "post-metal" qualities: more drawn-out melodies and more atmospheric vibe. It's a little less suffocating and intense than the others but I think it's superb.

Strangely enough I have never gotten around to "The Destroyers of All", I have just queued it on my radar list (along with half a million other albums).  I think everything I have heard thus far has been an improvement on the previous and I thought "Shrines.." to be the pinnacle for me.  Will check out "The Destroyers..." though.

As I think about it more, it sort of reminds me of Diapsiquir (who they did a split with a while back).  Maybe Peste Noire is thinking about going in a similar direction with their own music.

I think that the album itself will probably be better, as there will be a bit more context for the songs.  I hope they work in some more of their acoustic material as well.
