  1. Here is a good one. I think Fenriz underplays is drumming. He is modest and if modesty, doesn't work, he is self deprecating ( as we all should be lol). The guy is a solid drummer and is hardly brought into the subject of drums. He is tasteful and uses a right hand setup, as a lefty. Fen on the topic what drums should sound like...
  2. I have seen a few bands that sound nothing like they do on a record. One band I was pumped to see was Tombs, love everything they put out...what a mistake that was. Mike the lead and vocals was either having a bad night or he thought I called him Hank, when I said hi. He looked at me and mouthed the word hank or spank...might have been crank lol idk but I felt like a dick. The bass player for Tombs was looking at nothing and no one the entire show and pre show was just off by himself and ignoring everyone. Either the band is just odd or they do not get along at all. I know the line up changes a lot. So I am sure some just think of it as a job and nothing more. After that- I do not want to meet anyone from a band, the thing with mike and seeing how the members acted on stage left me kind of upset. I would have thought they would feel the same about the music being played. Really a downer.
  3. Depends for me, if its a bar- about an hour early and you can get a parking spot, check the place out grab a drink, find the bathrooms and maybe meet the bands if they are out in the bar. I never walk up to them but if they walk by, I say hi. large shows, I have gotten inline two hours or so. again, parking, you can check the place out and maybe find away in and out fast if shite goes wrong.
  4. The techo no track had me thinking " what is this and why ?" I found it too be off setting. I never judge or expect to hear everything an album or song has to offer in the first listen. After multi plays, it felt off to me. The track by itself is great but it didn't work for me. Mayhem a few years ago started shows with an interesting opening track of whispers and chains and little bits of metal clanking together, I liked that a lot. This will be very odd but I like how Nachtmystium opens an album. Coming from a strong doom and sludge background, the really odd ass techno tunes do it for me. I do like the use of natural things in tracks, I gust of wind, maybe a breeze that is softly going by. It is indeed a very nice element added. When tastefully used, even better. Just thought of one, Nargaroth Seven Tears are Flowing to The River- that track has a very smooth intro. Heavy but in the sense of making you feel something, that kind of heavy.
  5. Deathcrush has a great intro. Not the techno house album intro lol the song Deathcrush.
  6. Was here two years ago. I talked about thrash and black metal. Quick Recap: Paradox- Heresy, fav thrash LP- That LP has the good ol acoustic entrance. No joke check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqVegF9XycM For the Black Metal, I love everything up till the spring of 1993. All the Darkthorne demos get a lot of play time over here. Mayhem has one okay track and the Deathcrush riff is no joke a teeth shattering one. But i keep an open mind with Black Metal. Pest puts out great tunes, Frost is a clown and Varg did nothing wrong. DarkThrone's Artic Thunder is in my top 3, easy. I cant stop playing that damn thing. I have it in every format...and back patch. Doom is dead. The classics are the best. Sludge is played out. Stoner rock and metal are too far gone. I get it, you smoke pot and turn the mid up. Cool Sleep hat, wow a stack of Orange. Drone metal has been an interesting topic for me these last few months. Don't be a lady and check out IRON MONKEY 9-13. Really the only band from the 90s in the genre(s) of sludge/doom blah blah blah whatever that have done anything interesting. Also, its not the full band. Jim is on vocals and still plays 6 strings with crazy amounts of gain.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-S-LsLJqIc
  7. I am a huge fan of Year of No Light. Nord is an amazing album !
  8. Can't say enough about this band. They are a supreme pizza of metal... thrash, a bit of black and once in awhile a tastefully fuzzed bass guitar. Great album art, fun to listen to and an all around soild sound. If you want a good listen on a friday night, try it. What do you think ?
  9. Its just the music and HRs work makes me think of mesh tunes.
  10. I always connect H.R. and Meshuggah album art.

  17. Have checked out anything from Wizard Bloody Wizard? Very different but I'm not sure if I will buy. I thought Black Mass was a bit of sound change. This new LP has a huge difference in sound. Which is good.
