  1. This is exactly what I say to all foreigners that I meet.
  2. How dare they! Do they even Easter, or are they just lazy? Best you continue Vlad the Impaler's great work. Assail them, impale them, unveil them. Or better yet, string them on skewers, kebab 'em all!
  3. Darkness of Blood - Overture in Veloria (low quality youtube video) Wolves bay in an intro redolent of Mr. Crowley, followed by vampiric metal majesty, then a languorous dusky embrace, finished finally with a forceful phantasmagasm. Theatres des Vampires - Dracole Waide An epic homage to the one and only Dracula. others that come to mind: Burzum - Tomhet My Dying Bride - Black God Cradle of Filth - Lustmord and Wargasm Cradle of Filth - Tortured Soul Asylum
  4. Absolutely not. There's no room for humour in metal. Abbath frowns upon all.
  5. Now just imagine if she walked past his bedroom and heard what she already knew to be the furious sound of xenophobic ejaculation... Probably for the best that she doesn't find out.

The hidden track is an uncut version of Down South, Up North. When they knock down Castle Requiem they'll find out exactly what kind of mastering went on from behind those walls, unheard for centuries...
  7. Optimization is key, herbs are definitely helpful in that regard. I'm sure my kidneys are fine. They get their daily exercise from heavy coffee consumption. Dandelion root tea has a bit of a coffee flavour actually, somewhat metallic though.
  8. Req, just how much blood is spent on abovesaid body guard? As you know, it isn't easy walking about at night; countless Renfields constantly accosting me, groveling at my feet; tabloid journalists with their flash photography; Van Hellsings 'round the corner leading stake-in-hand slayers... The predictability of mortal mundanity has left me feeling coffin-bound lately and a security detail seems the answer.
  9. I agree with you about Martin. He's certainly talented and was instrumental in reinvigorating the band in helping them to unleash the beast that was Godspeed, but beyond that I've hardly cared. He can play fast and keeps very busy behind the drum kit, but I think that can sometimes be antithetical to the atmosphere of the music, which Cradle should always chiefly be about. Nick Barker seemed to have a better 'musical ear' by my estimation and never let his talent or speed overshadow the atmosphere. I think this is partially due to production choices too. Adrian was also very good, minus the drum sound on Thornography. On the underrated side, I really liked Was' performance on the songs he did for the From the Cradle to Enslave EP. Although he may not have been as flashy, his punkier performance always left room for the music to breathe and the atmosphere to permeate. That release had a good balance between atmosphere and heaviness, whereas their older albums leaned towards atmosphere and their newer albums towards heaviness.
  10. Didn't Thornography teach you anything about Temptation? It's grown on me over the years, but it will never be a favourite. An album to listen to as one inches closer to Halloween, or for general autumn fun. My biggest issue remains the obnoxious, super loud, clattering drum sound. Nevertheless, I once reworked the track listing, replacing some album tracks with bonus tracks, and it made for a much better listen.

I haven't compared the two versions of Grand Declaration, but I'm generally not fond of remastered albums unless the original was very poorly produced. However, I suppose remixing and remastering an album so that it has a very different sound and feel isn't such a bad idea; it's a lot better than doing marginal tweaks and the blasphemous practice of brickwalling of what wasn't previously brickwalled. I highly recommend Rebel Extravaganza (plenty of excellent riffs) and figure it to also be a good companion album to Thorns' debut. And don't forget that Rebel Extravaganza has a hidden track zero as well!
  12. I completely agree. The immortal they aren't going to let their zillion dollar industry be replaced by common plants that can be grown and prepared by even the unwashed masses. I've tried many herbs before including two you mentioned: dandelion and stinging nettle root and leaves, both excellent.

    Books?

Interesting.... I hadn't heard of this one. Do you recommend it?
  14. Take them and then later take more drugs to fix the problems caused by the initial drug. But that's social engineering and marketing at its finest. When you tell people that there is a 'proven' beneficial and therapeutic purpose to taking a drug with only the small potential of some 'side effects,' people will see the drug in a positive light because it has been framed that way. Now, if you simply told people are there are only just effects from taking a drug whether they be potentially good and/or potentially bad, people may be more likely to seriously weigh the pros and cons like any other decision they make in life. Herbal and/or natural remedies? Not enough research to back up those claims... because there isn't much funding/research being done, so they're just considered old wives' tales for now. Prevention is the best cure anyways.
  15. Currently evoking the dark art embrace of: Symawrath - Scaena I : Incestuous Overture in the Crystal Auditorium A recent indulgence, darkly sinister Spanish symphonic black metal from a bygone era. Well worth it. Darkness of Blood - A Dream of Vampires in Astral Dementia Foolish spells cannot protect you from their power! Lord Vampyr - Death Comes Under the Sign of the Cross Return of The Count! Improved musicianship, more heavy metal influenced, much better than expected. I wish he would reconnect with Fabian and resurrect the trve Theatres des Vampires sound.
  16. If you're lucky you'll be able to observe this phenomenon played out in back to back commercials. 'Have you talked to your doctor about drug x...' followed by 'Have you or a loved one taken drug x and suffered serious...'
  17. I did a quick search on metal-archives and found a band called Empty Tomb. They have a song called Speak Now (Or Forever Hold Your Peace) which appears on a demo, compilation and live album. On youtube, the song appears bearing a slightly different name. Maybe this is it:
  18. A reference that's dangerous to know, Byronic Man... Now I feel like listening to that album.
  19. Scorn? Quite the contrary, nothing but respect. Actually, I've heard that monastic living lends itself nicely to enlightenment. They got to him. They. The They. He was replaced with a clone. His brain is a mindless maze of macaroni now. He only makes safe, agreeable, positively positive posts that never offend.
  20. Brave soul. Giving up sex and money altogether.

    Books?

Splendid idea. I'll tell you the story of my life. We could call it Interview With The Vampire. Give it about 27 years and you'll remember. Or maybe It will remember in 27 years...
  22. I am still lovesick for Mina. I am still so lovesick for her.
  23. So you’re suggesting my move from Transylvania to Carfax Abbey is a bad idea?

    Books?

I'll bet your Inner Goddess is tingling. I don't actually know what that means, but it sounds appropriate. How did you manage that? That book is massive. The equivalent to leaving a small child behind.
  25. Slipping off a pair of Depends doesn't quite meet the gothic romance standard, never mind the patchouli-scented home she would have taken you to. You made the right choice by escaping those hags.
