  1. So I'm just getting into metal. I'm new here and I just did my cute little introductory post. Don't know for sure if this is the right place to post this. Next year I'll be going to college in a place that'll have more metal concerts and whatnot near me. I'm looking forward to continuing my interest in metal over the summer and then hopefully getting some more real life "experience" over the next four years. I've noticed that a lot of metalhead culture seems to place a premium on your attire. I don't have anything to wear that people would typically associate with metal and to be quite honest, most of it beyond some band t-shirts seems a little outside of what I like to wear. Will I look like a complete ass or a poser of sorts if I go to shows in more... ubiquitous clothing? I genuinely enjoy the music, at least as much as I have heard with my limited forays into metal.
  2. What's up, everyone! I'm an 18-year-old guy from Massachusetts (northeast US). I'm really just getting into metal. Like... the first time I listened to much other than Enter Sandman was about 48 hours ago. I've long been a fan of typical rock, especially grunge. I don't know what caused me to make the jump. As of the time of this writing with the delving into metal that I've done so far, I really enjoy Rishloo, System of a Down, Fair to Midland, Karnivool, most Djent type songs, Volbeat, Megadeth, Opeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath (of course), a bit of Judas Priest, and Pantera is great. I'm here mainly because I'm really enjoying metal so far and I want to immerse myself in the music and the culture more. I don't want to sound too ignorant if I say I listen to metal and I get interrogated. Looking to expand my tastes and ideally become a veritable metalhead in my own right. Edit: And Tool. I freaking love Tool.
