Hey all! So I thought I'd put this little question to you people : Screamo vocals or clean? Personally I'm for screamed vocals, but I particularly enjoy it when it's mixed with clean. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suhuQlYZwtE I find you can write with screamed vocals quite differently to clean, and it can add more complexity and passion to a song. What'ya all think about them?

I'm ashamed to say, but I just woke up at 4 pm. To be fair, I was out drinking quite a bit last night.

I won't deny, there are many riffs that kick ass and they're definitely pioneers in the metal genre. But I dunno, not totally my piece of cake.

Hopefully I won't get crucified, but I personally can't stand Metallica.

Hey metalheads! I'm getting into writing my own stuff, and I'd like to get some opinions/tips from you guys. I'm going for a more melodic death metal feel to it. Obviously, I still have to do vocals and a bit more guitar work for some parts, but let me know what you guys think. Cheers!

Atoma album from Dark Tranquillity. It's got some awesome new feels to it that a lot of their previous albums didn't have as much of.

At the very beginning yeah, especially on the high strings. Only hurt for a few weeks though.

Amon Amarth. -
God I can't even recall what I listened to originally to get into metal. It was probably an older Megadeath album or something of that nature.

Hey all! I'm from Sydney, Australia (Yes, where nemo went.) Started learning guitar halfway through last year after a lifelong addiction to metal, and I'm now planning to record my own music. I particularly enjoy the Melodeath genre, my favorite groups being Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Dark Tranquillity and Wolfheart. Anywho, glad to join a community that doesn't automatically pucker up their noses at the mere mention of metal. Cheers!

Niilo Sevanen from Insomnium, and Devin Townsend, definitely.

POSSESSED SHINOBI - "Suppression" GUITAR PLAYTHROUGH
MourningOblivion replied to PossessedShinobi's topic in Promote Yourself
Really well written. I would recommend experimenting with strings/choir to go in the background, as well as some other instruments to accompany the guitar (piano, harp, etc.) It could add a new whole level to the music. Take this for example It's got a whole variety of instruments going on. But yeah as the person above said, keep it to something you love. That's the only way to properly enjoy doing it. -
Name of this song please?(Melodic/Symponhic Metal)

A shiettonne of animes have metal intro theme. Maybe search something like "top 10 best anime metal themes" or something. Other than that it sounds like it would be pretty obscure. -
Currently listening to a new quite small band I found, "Sacrificed Alliance". Favourite so far is "The End of The Endless"

Hey all, so I'm relatively new to the whole guitar mixing areas. I'm trying to figure out how to get a certain tone/sound. Here's a quick example of the sound I'm trying to replicate. I'm assuming it's just a simple power chord with some other post wizardry applied to it. I'm not just talking about the distortion, moreso the more "melodic and full" sound it has. I have a pretty good DAW (Reason 9), so I can fine tune and fiddle with the sound there as much as I need, I just don't know exactly how to go about it. Cheers
