  1. Sorry man, the weekend turned out to be more chaotic than I'd planned. I'll try during the week. If I've got nothing done by the end of this weekend, I'll just post MIDI files.
  2. Psycroptic - s/t Aborted - The Necrotic Manifesto
  3. King- Reclaim the Darkness Behomoth- The Satanist
  4. Did you mean me or did Requiem do a report on the Manowar cover band somewhere that I didn't see? In the case of the former: Sure, but I don't get to go to gigs as often as I'd like due to location, schedule, etc.. In the case of the latter: I look pretty dumb right now.
  5. Happy birthday deathstorm. Reporting back on the Hadal Maw/ Black Rheno Barwon Club show: I return to the forums with a small collection of new merch and a neck, sore from headbanging. Was an extremely enjoyable show overall with generally tight, entertaining performances with quality mixing throughout the night. Disappointing there weren't more people there to see it and due to a lack of people, atmosphere was not the most lively. I situated myself at the front of the crowd for most of the night, near the left hand (from audience perspective) side of the stage. I'd feel remiss not to give a brief overview of my experience with each band, shown below in order of performance. Fall and Resist: Quite a tight performance with solid energy and stage presence. Lead singer was charismatic with song introduction and jokes, songs being generally heavier than what little promotional material I had previously heard. Tone and balance was near perfect with all elements being distinguishable at all times. During the second song of the set, there was a sudden power blackout of unknown cause which the band recovered from quite well; opting to begin the song anew, which I believe to be the preferable option. Black Rheno: I heard someone say on the night (something along the lines of) "It's really good to see bands who really enjoy performing", and I think that really sums up what made theirs suck a fun set list to witness. The energy and stage presence of Black Rheno was amazing, I was really impressed with the vocalist and guitarists abilities to jump around the stage or walk like godzilla while still delivering a great performance. An impressively full sound for a band only consisting of three members (vocalist, guitarist, drummer) makes me question how a low-end fullness was achieved; I'm thinking possibly an octave harmoniser on the guitar but I wouldn't rule out a backing track (but I don't get how this would have worked as I didn't hear anything that would cue you to come in and didn't see earpeices on anyone. At some points I found it difficult to hear the singer and the guitar a little unclear and muddy, but I think this may be due to me being overly close to one of the speakers. Hadal Maw: I'm not sure what I was expecting but I think my expectations were surpassed. The atmosphere and spectacle of the group providing excellent visual and auditory respective vistas. I really like their latest album, but the songs had a much better flow and power to them live with the vocal work really popping out to attack the listener. The musicianship was admirable in all of the members, the dynamics of the songs really coming to life. A thing that I found interesting was a guitar sound in solo (or is it a riff?) of the song "Affluenza", that I previously was unsure of how it was made (thinking like myself, I though it was sweeps) that upon examination turned out to be some pretty cool tapping. An unexpected bonus was the captivating theatrics of the lead singer, it really fitted in well with the music in a way that made the performance as a whole more interesting to look at. Nemesium: Being from Geelong, this is a band that I should really keep my eye on. Liking the promotional material that I hear beforehand, I was pretty impressed with the songs they played from the unrealeased upcoming album. They were fast and aggressive while still meticulously tight, lead pars and solos landing perfectly on each note. The high vocals were a lot more ferocious in person than anything of them I'd previously heard. I think I may have become somewhat tired by this time in the night so some of this performance was likely lost on me. Also, when I asked the guy who was selling their merch if they have any of their EPs left, they only one they had one left and he just told me to take it. Gotta love that, I'll probably buy one of their shirts if I manage to see them support King. Overall a great night, but I can't help but thinking that with the small quantity of people that turned up (clearly less than 100 people including band members, staff etc.) that this must have been a loss of money and a little disappointing for the bands.
  6. Given that I've never posted a picture, I'm pretty amazed you recognised me. I guess this is why this website set my firewall off.
  7. That's the nicest way of saying "Prepare For Invasion" that I've ever heard. Hi and welcome Siftergirl by the way. I'm also mostly a lurker.
  8. If I survive with tying fingers intact you'll hear about it! You're right. Both Hadal Maw and Black Rheno are playing Frankston tomorrow and Rheno are singularly headlining at The Tote the day after. Jesus, after those tickets you probably got the Barwon Club at Rod Laver Arena prices. That's not really fair. If a group of guys with guitars get to pretend to be Manowar, surely True Belief can pretend to be a metalhead.
  9. I'm seeing Hadal Maw (tech death) and Black Rheno (stoner/grindcore) with Nemesium (death) and Fall & Resist (death-ish) at the Barwon Club tonight. Should be pretty fun.
  10. 6.0/10. Didn't really like many of the riffs save for some of the later tremolo-picked stuff. Cool vocals. https://youtu.be/hoSOn-uf5ZU
  11. I think that the timing and dynamics might be out in some parts and that the high and low riffs don't always seem to fit together right, but in different contexts each could work quite well. Regardless, pushing your boundaries is pretty much always a good thing even if it doesn't immediately yield your best work. Oh, and I meant to ask earlier; what course are you applying for? As I'm back at uni, I'll hopefully be able to write and record some stuff on the weekend.
  12. Honesty, I felt like that one annoying guy that shows up at a party and causes everyone to leave.
  13. Looking forward to it. Was the holiday fun? I'm off uni for a few weeks so I should be able to better participate, hopefully I'll be able to record guitars and things for now rather than using crappy synthesisers.
  14. By best do you mean value for money, range or something else? From my experience, iTunes has always been about as expensive as buying new CDs from stores but it's been a couple of years since I tried and that could be area and exchange rate related. You can get plenty of good stuff for relatively cheap if you dig around Bandcamp. I have not bought anything from the sight yet (I still need to set up a credit card that works with it) but already have a list of stuff that I plan on getting, some of which I've came across directly or indirectly through this very forum.
  15. Oh yes, every night. You want proof? Sometimes the last biscuit goes missing from the jar and no-one admits to taking it, sometimes the coffee machine is running low on water even though everyone know to fill it up when they're done. And just this morning, I found my guitar slightly out of tune and my practice am low on batteries even though not a living soul had touched either since last night... spoooky.
  16. Although I've been absent from this thread as of yet, I'll gladly pay ten dollars to see this guy in that. Is the challenge to wear just the above costume or everything suggested in the thread (bullet belt, woman's jeans, belly shirt etc.)?
  17. I'm going to have to see a female Doctor in action before I make my mind up, I think it has the potential to be really cool so long as it is done well and does not turn into a weird token gesture or sex thing. After a quick Google search I could try to pretend to know what I'm talking about with regards to The Monk, does that count? You are right though, I would be good to see more villains return.
  18. I think you can, I've put up stuff from eBay and have not been crucified quite yet.
  19. I don't really know what I'm doing. I would need the raw tracks (bass track, vocal track etc.) exported from the Garageband file as audio files, possibly as something like mp3 files due to size issues. I like the first one, nice atmosphere, pretty convincing choir, cool drums, cool solo. Love the second one. Really like the feeling of the verse riff and the impact and groove of the chorus after the baseline awesome drums. Without wah, your current setup makes your solos kinda Dragonforce-ey. To me, parts of this song come off as brutal thrash or death thash.
  20. I win. I got it for 10 Australian Dollars that's 6.74 euros.
  21. I have not done one of these in a while, but as I just finished my last exam I guess I can add more to the forum than lurking and horns-ing. New CDs: Kreator: Gods of Violence Aborted: The Necrotic Manifesto Cds from the internet: Abrasive: The Birth... Born In Sodom Legio Mortis: Legend of Humanities Fall Ressurecturis: Non Voglio Morire Slayer: Divine Intevention Sewercide: Immortalized In Suffering The Berzerker: Dissimulate Scar Symmetry: Pitch Black Progress CDs from markets: Judas Priest: Redeemer of Souls, Nostradamus Queensryche: Promised Land, Operation Mindcrime II Slayer: Undisputed Attitude Lamb of God: As the Palaces Burn Death Angel: Archives and Artifacts (got a pretty great deal on this)
  22. My favorite rumor I've heard has been Richard Ayoade, not because I think he's at all suited to be a good Doctor but more because I think it would be hilarious.
  23. Honestly man, upon hearing your voice my brain jumped first to Bobby Ellsworth, I kind of want to hear more. That solo is really cool and the drums are better then the last song you put up with regards to volume, variation and fills. Excluding bass, is this all played on keyboard? Just curious. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but would you be open to sending me the raw tracks so I can take a shot at remixing them?
  24. Haunted or creepy doesn't really bother me. Haven't been camping in a while so I'll choose that. Would you rather listen to romantic or baroque music?
