  1. I'd like to release something music wise that a few people genuinely like, finish all my uni courses (possibly ending in a pH.D), get a job that's actually science-y and get something published in a reasonably respected journal.
  2. If I count as one of the others, Uni has been keeping me really busy. I've had very little spare time.
  3. I'll play when I can but time for recording is pretty rare for me right now (back at uni, also why I'm around here less recently)
  4. I had just came to the conclusion that Gothic Metal was your favorite.
  5. I listened to Hypocrite and Shredding Session. Something I think I noticed in my first second of listening is that you advertised as metal, but to me your voice screams classic punk and after noticing that double kick aside there was little metal about your song, still I have to admit parts of it (the emptier parts of the first verse for instance) do have a certain coolness, not a bad song. As for your shredding session, I personally would be cutting down on the slower scale passages and tremolo picking bursts and trying to get perfect takes on clunkier or messier areas.
  6. Relatively new purchases include Mayhem- A Season In Blasphemy Venom- Welcome to Hell (Love them now) Slayer- God Hates Us all Cheap market purchases include Machine Head- Burn My Eyes Judas Priest- Point of Entry Slash- R n' F'N R Also Picked up a compilation called route 666 and found a dusty demo of a band called Observer in a miscellaneous pile of crap at a market stall.
  7. I would say the first two albums are Nu Metal, the last two alternative metal and Volume 3 somewhere between.
  8. Kinda takes the laziness out of it when I run back up the stairs to take the slide again. People would be annoyed to find out I don't have a car.
  9. Welcome to the forum, zetsubougirl.
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum. I like death metal myself, including a few of the bands that you've mentioned. Just a heads up, Scream Bloody Gore is not a Tech-Death Album. Death weren't really a Tech-Death Band until Human (most of their stuff is still great though).
  11. Fair enough, mate. I was just wondering because it wasn't obvious to me. Metallica are a huge influence, but I would argue that Megadeth are also pretty diverse. I get that but a lot of the times when fans talk, lines like "Marty Friedman is a god" are often thrown around. I don't know if you've heard any recent albums of theirs but that basically sums up the first few tracks on Dystopia too.
  12. That story drew me in... I hope there's not a nest or something around your house.
  13. I care about the musical components of the song more but good lyrics add another level of appreciation to the song for me (especially in stuff where you can understand the lyrics easily and they are prominently featured). Those Septicflesh lyrics are cool though, I should get around to checking them out. I also really like Lovecraft and similar authors.
  14. Entombed AD- "Dead Dawn" Got the special edition with pointless bonus stuff because for some reason iy cost the same as the normal one. Dream Theater- "Original Album Series" Vektor- "Terminal Redux" Also Crypt- "Disgusting Zombie Metal" finally arrived in the mail.
  15. What makes Metallica seem like the obviously superior band? Popularity? Also, I think in Megadeth, while there is focus on Mustaine, to me it seems that the lead guitarist (currently Kiko Loureiro) is almost always shown off in the music.
  16. I prefer Megadeth by a long shot. I like Metallica, but even Master Of Puppets and Ride the Lightning seem boring to me when I compare them to Rust In Peace or Peace Sells. I also believe that all of the instrumentalists in Megadeth (classic or current lineup) are more skilled than their Metallica counterparts and they have more albums that I like at least one or two tracks on (the main exception being Risk).
  17. Half of them are Nu-metal, apparently I'm Metallica. I don't suppose this is your quiz herseydenvar?
  18. I really like riffs and the song writing. It could be my headphones but I would suggest making the drums a tad louder. Also, I might suggest tweaking the rhythm guitar tone a little as it feels a little muddy and low-heavy for my taste in thrash (are you using a fuzz pedal?). Overall though, I liked it quite a lot (you're definitely not doing "terribly wrong"). Looking forward to more stuff.
  19. The third is really the defining part of a scale when it comes to major/minor labelling, probably because if you were to make a chord from the scale using its triad you would get a minor/major chord (assuming the fifth is perfect). It annoys me that the modal scale that we normally refer to as the "minor scale" (Aeolian mode) has a major second. The Phrygian mode is the same but with a minor second, why do we not call it "the minor scale" (is it because the chord of its fifth is diminished but the chords of the Aeolian modes first fourth and fifth are all minor?) *dissolves into incoherent noises and shaking. Also I'll just kinda throw in the idea that that enharmonic notes are called the different things due to different context, this is as when writing out a (traditional modal) scale there can only be one of each note weather it be sharp or flat (so you cannot have D flat and D sharp in the same scale, you have a C sharp and a D sharp, or a D flat and an E flat) and because of this you can only have sharps or flats in a scale.
  20. I was thinking about maybe silencing the sssssss and the breaths and stuff, retaking the weaker parts, etc. but I thought that I should be more "honest" with it when asking for advice.
  21. I appreciate the honesty. I have practically no experience with higher screams but your suggestion makes a lot of sense as I do run out of breath and power quickly, I'll start trying that approach in further practice.
