  1. Hi I have a stupid question: Where do I create a signature? I looked through the "edit profile" menu, but I didn't find anything... I like to include stupid stuff in there. Thanks
  2. It's a girl actually. Her name is Mandu (Korean for "dumpling"), and she was born in South Korea (I lived there for a while). She is a pain in the arse, but cute as hell. She is a well travelled cat, having travelled by car, bus, metro, and plane. She travelled from South Korea to the UK (with a pit stop in Germany).
  3. Gimme 30 minutes, I gotta go through my archive, and dig one out, which is not to blurry, those goats don't stay put for pictures, you know... Arg, party pooper! ha ha ha
  4. There is not pretty picture of myself. I indeed do have a cat. here's a picture of my kitty wearing a Hawaiian shirt: What do I win? There's surely some kind of bonus for the shirt...
  5. I wish I posted a pretty picture of myself, it seems to work for your intro post... Damn... Welcome! (even though you were here before me and you called me a goat fucker in another subject! )
  6. has lent his outfit for the role of "the Crimp" in the movie Pulp Fiction
  7. Yes, it was a disappointment, especially that the admin' is a buddy of mine. Anyway. The water is not great where I live, but it can be drunk, so I'll survive! As for the jokes, I am only 30 posts in, I'll wait a bit... It is usually bad taste... OK then: What's the difference between Amy Winehouse and a moped? a moped can reach 30
  8. Ha ha ha, Thanks for the flowers! I have been active on other forums, which were smaller. I personally prefer smaller forums, you get to know the people better. But the 2 forums I was involved in, I left. I was a regular on Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal until 2006, where there was a cool community of people. Then he joined Guns N' Roses, and all the GnR fans joined his forum, just posting about GnR, which drowned the community who was talking about Bumblefoot's music, fretless guitars etc. So I went away. I might go have a look what it's like now that he has left GnR! Maybe all the GnR fans have left too... (I got into metal by starting with GnR, so I have nothing against them. But reading posts on BBF forum about how much people miss Slash etc got me bored. They must trully cream their pants as we speak). In the meantime, I also got very involved on Christophe Godin's forum (who I mentioned in my "French Metal" post) for many years... Probably from 2005 or so. I was a moderator on there all that time (and am still one now), but decided to leave the forum as one person on there has been trolling me quite badly; and as the forum grew quieter, the trolling took over. And as this guy trolled other members (friends) who left because of him, then I decided to leave as the guy would not admit responsibility in his shit behaviour, and would not back off. I spoke with the administrator who is not really keen on banning people (which is fine), but this troll has been unpleasant for so many years, that I decided to leave the ship. I didn't want to, but I had to. This forum was a great community, I met plenty of the members at Christophe Godin's concerts in Paris, or at guitar camps we attended together; so I knew quite a few of them quite well. And this is why it was heartbreaking to leave, but had to. So now I am trying other places... I am still assessing this place. As I said, I find it quiet, so if it is too quiet, I might just jump ship too. I dunno, I will give it a good go. Promised! there seem to be nice people around here, so let's see! But I have not yet exposed you to my shit humour... so you might kick me out eventually... we'll see! Finally, thanks for the compliments on my English. It is not perfect, but i guess that's almost the best I can do after having lived in the UK for 15 years. I do not "sound" French when I write I guess, but when I speak, "Zere iz an accent"... which I never managed to get rid of. Although it is not "Ze typical French accent". I come from Evian (yes like the water, that actually where it comes from), on the shore of the Geneva Lake (which is actually called "Leman's lake") on the French side (the lake is 2/3 Swiss and 1/3 French). Here's a map: Voilà!

  10. Thanks! This forum is rather quiet I find! Considering it is a worldwide one, not many posts happen during the GMT day!
  11. Hi Guys, Since I am French, I thought I'd start a topic on French Metal. I feel that we have some relevant bands, that some of you might appreciate. Of course all of you know Gojira, which is probably our best export since baguettes. But let me tell you about some other bands I like. Bear in mind I have left France 15 years ago, so some of these will not necessary be current, and some of them might not event exist anymore. Psykup: I love that band. It is some crazy metal fusion weird stuff with a lot of screetching. They sing in English and French, some songs in one or the other, sometimes both. They have a great sense of humour, and are accomplished musicians. They are somewhere between System of A Down and Sikth. They split up about 5 years ago, as they struggled to make a living out of music, but have recentlty reformed, and did a funding campain to re-release their 1st album remixed / remastered. They said that if this was a successful campain, they will start working on new music. They were successful, so watch this space: Watcha: Watcha is no more. They stopped their activity end of 2000s. Probably for the best as they started to go poppy and suck (in my opinion), bar their very last album, which was more brutal, but didn't grab me. They started out in the late 90s, and their first album was very inspired by Korn (bass sound / singing). They sing mostly in French, but I found their stuff quite groovy: Loudblast: I do not know Loudblast very well, but they were the French Sepultura. They did find some international success back in the 90s. They split up for a long time, but I heard that they released a new album in 2014. (actually listening to the tracks I posted, I might actually listen to them!) Gnô: This is a pop / metal band, which I love to bits. Their (now ex) guitarist is a very good friend of mine, called Christophe Godin. He is for sure the best French guitarist out there. He is a virtuoso, shreds like there's no tomorrow, and is also a very funny and nice guy. They qualify their music as "Pantera meets the Beatles". Very hooky choruses, and very heavy riffs. I saw them many times live, and actually went to Paris especially for their gigs. Morglbl: The other (and current) project of Christophe Godin, but with other musicians. It is an instrumental trio of "Jazz metal". They are full of humour, and the virtuosity of each member is mind numbing. I usually hate instrumental stuff, but their write their stuff just like a song. It is weird, it is funny, and it is fab on stage. They tour the US occasionally, and have played in various prog' festivals, and have been noticed and invited on several occasions there: Of course there are shit loads. These are amongst those I listen to. I thought they're worth mentioning, and hopefully this will help them get them more international fans!
  12. Their work before Cowboys sounds like cheesy glam metal for me. There are a couple of good riffs here and there, but I have never felt like I needed to buy those. Let's say I was happy to "come across" them online, but I definitely do not listen to them.
  13. Pantera is my favourite metal band of all time. Funnily enough, I bought "far beyond driven" when I was really into Guns N' Roses, and just because I liked the cover. Man, the first time I listened to this album, I didn't like it. I found it too brutal for me at the time. And I hated the guitar tone (too screetchy). Then later on, I started listening to the album again, and surprisingly got really into the drumming which I thought was so different to what I had been listening to so far. And with time, I started loving the guitar playing (but still didn't like the tone) and the general groove of the song. And eventually, I loved the whole package (the brutality, the music, the singing). FBD is my favourite Pantera album, but I really like them all. And musically, it was so ground breaking... Dimebag is my favourite guitarist of all time. Genius riffs (playing a lot on rhythm), amazing soloing (very soulful and bluesy). Only recently did I start appreciating the contribution of Rex, by listening to Kill Devil Hill, where you can recognise that riffage, and that "pantera touch".
  14. It's an Amazon show. it is a series where he plays a judge who "hears" God through his son who's in a coma. Pearlman tries to avenge his son, and it gets messy. Quite cool I find.
  15. Thank you! I like Down's first 2 albums, but you are right after that none of his projects are ground breaking. I didn't even listen to his solo album as the couple of songs I heard sounded lame to me.
  16. Still a good singer... But what a douchebag... Sad for a dude who comes from Nolan which has so much culture...
