Problem I have with Burial Hordes is they had that one incredible album Incendium in 2014 which was my intro to the band, and nothing else they've ever done has measured up to that one imho. It's like they changed their sound and turned into a different band after that. I will say this track from their new one sounds very promising though, and if the whole thing sounds like this, it'll be a definite purchase. I hate when they tease them this far ahead, album won't drop until 3 months from now, June 9th.1 point -

indeed Don't forget...Indonesia! This is great atmospheric black Greece, Chile? I seem to like a lot of blackened death/thrash from those two. But I know you are talking strictly black.1 point -

Sweden 7.) Canada 8.) Spain 9.) Netherlands 10.) France/Italy Kiira - Iättömän Sanat, Finland Ciemra - The Tread of Darkness, Belarus, mandatory.1 point -

I love sub-sub-sub genres and am at a loss of where to even start with this one. Nightmare Visions | Theophonos (bandcamp.com) MA calls it avant-garde black and that is simple but apt. I don't love the atonal aspects but I can see some elitist types losing their shit over this one.1 point -

Slayer only tune half a step to E flat. Put Reign in Blood on YouTube and then play it at 3/4 speed. It actually sounds alright slower, still faster than a lot of other bands. Once you get used to it that way after a song or two then turn it back to normal speed, it sounds fucking insane.1 point -

Agree entirely. The first track put me right off and I wanted to like the album. It made me comment as I did initially because the whole first listen was shaded by that track. The rest is better. And I only just found the first Arde album. I really enjoyed it. It does not sound like a first album. Either the dudes had been playing together a lot before they recorded, or they were already veterans.1 point -
You're a curse! We just had the Jehovah's knock on the door. I heard someone walking down the driveway from in the shed office so being a lazy fucker I turned on the security monitor instead of going out to greet them. They knocked on the house door and told my wife they were inviting us to some event. My wife told them she couldn't unlock the door and they could put the invite in the letterbox and they thanked her and left. They've walked about 850 metres from the road and back to their car only to say a dozen words put a piece of paper in the letterbox. They should thank me for all that exercise.1 point

Enslaved - Heimdal, Norway. Stayed with it til the end, but I'll probably never listen to this again. Too much frooty keys and cleans ruin it for me. But I guess I can kinda see how this'd be appealing to someone who was into prog metal. Badalyk - Freak in the Mirror, Siberia. It don't get no fucking colder than Siberia. Hopefully this will be able to get the Enslaved taste out of my mouth.1 point -

This is my late to the party list. I was working a ton and didn't listen to as many releases as typical, but still managed to find some I thought were quite good. I find it hard to rank albums that are very different in style, but I rank them based on how much I played them on repeat. 1) Worm - Bluenothing (EP) 2) Phobophilic - Enveloping Absurdity 3) Daeva – Through Sheer Will and Black Magic 4) Wormrot - Hiss 5) Tomb Mold – Aperture of Body (EP) 6) Immolation – Acts of God 7) Undeath – It’s Time… To Risk From the Grave Honorable mentions: Spiritworld - Deathwestern1 point

what is the best extreme metal album of the 80s.
agamerwholovesmetal reacted to Dead1 for a question
What's the cutoff in terms of style? I mean is thrash included? Obviously Sodom and Slayer are extreme metal, whereas Metallica and Anthrax are probably not. Autopsy - Severed Survival Atheist - Piece of Time Bathory - Under The Sign Of The Black Mark Bathory - Blood Fire Death Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales Celtic Frost - To Megatherion Death - Scream Bloody Gore, Death - Leprosy Exodus - Bonded By Blood Kreator - Endless Pain Kreator - Pleasure to Kill Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness Pestilence - Consuming Impulse Sepultura - Beneath The Remains Slayer - Show No Mercy Slayer - Hell Awaits Slayer- Reign In Blood (Would say from South of Heaven on they were no longer really extreme). Venom - Black Metal1 point -
