Should we live like humans or like animals?
Thatguy and 2 others reacted to SurgicalBrute for a topic
As someone with way too many pets, I have to disagree. Animals very obviously feel fear, hate, sadness, love, anger and happiness much in the same way as people. They just don't necessarily express it as verbally as we do. In fact, they recently realized cats actually "smile" at their owners by way of looking at them and doing a slow eye blink. Animals rely on instinct, but they're able to learn and adapt to their environments as well. If they couldn't they wouldn't survive3 points -

https://tyrannyoftradition.com/2011/07/11/george-clooney-agrees-to-buy-bones-of-bathory’s-quorthon-for-1-6-million-dollars/ Obviously satire about George Clooney buying Quorthorn's bones and Julia Roberts owning Dio's spine & jawbone, but all the people in the comments section apparently taking this seriously cracked me up.2 points -

What is your fav Pagan Metal band?
helvete reacted to SurgicalBrute for a topic
No problem...I used to have a massive list of these kinds of bands, but I lost it somewhere along the way. I'll have to dig back through and try to recreate it. Primordial and Arckanum are some of my favorites. Naglfar is one I haven't spent much time with beyond their Vittra album, but that was a great release, and it's been awhile since i sat down with any Moonsorrow. I should get on that today. I've never been a huge fan of Valkyrja. The Invocation of Demise was solid enough, but I haven't cared for anything after that. I've also had to sit through their live set a couple of times to see the band Archgoat, and they really weren't all that great. A couple more you may enjoy Panphage (Album - Storm) Falkenbach (Album - ...magni blandinn ok megintíri...) Forefather (Album - Steadfast) Arkona (Album - Vozrozhdenie)1 point -

Should we live like humans or like animals?

I it seemed relevant to impulse control which is a part of the conversation on this thread. I know a way to avoid having the impulse to express diet related opinions in the future. Humans are animals, so animals have emotions.1 point -
Yeah, that's how I feel too. They were yet to master the art of stringing riffs and sections into actual songs. At least on a consistant basis1 point

How do you know animals have no emotions? Many people believe that they do.1 point -
Death worship/tribute I think you'll find. Several of the guys played in, might still be playing in "Death To All" which covered Death songs. They wrote their album with Death's sound in mind. Opprobrium – The Fallen Entities1 point

This is melodeath. Shows a lot of potential, unfortunately they quit after this debut album. Definitely some bright spots here but the transitions between riffs are jarring, they're C-tier for a reason. I wish there was a choice between good and meh. But there's not so meh it shall be.1 point -

I forgot about Helloween. The path they have followed has only got better. Both Deris and Kiske are good in their own right, and both did good things with the band. But having them both back in the band with Hansen also singing has added a great element to the band.1 point

Of Feather And Bone - Sulphuric Disintegration (2020)1 point -
Although the album isn't out yet, but given his previous output and style, I think Erik Grönwall will turn out to be the best replacement for Sebastian Bach that Skid Row has ever had (not saying much, I know). The guy that sings for Accept has a very good voice, and to me he sounds more enjoyable and versatile than Udo.1 point

Can't stand Ripper, so I'd vote him down if I had the chance! I agree with that, Dave was flamboyant, had the moves and could sing, but Sammy sung most of VH songs better IMO, and Dreams is one of their best. Dave is one of the funniest old fellas in music though, his bio is one of the funniest things I've ever read, sadly though I think he wrote it as fact! I'd go with Bruce Dickinson as the best replacement, because I never liked Di'anno. But as a replacement for Bruce, Blaze was great, however I was glad when Bruce came back. Joey Belladonna was (still is better) than Neil Turban, but for the SOWN album Bush will always be better than Joey. Brian Johnson gets points for longevity, he's taken the band onward and upward since Bon's death. Mike Howe also gets a vote from me, I didn't mind Wayne in Reverend but I preferred Howe in Metal Church until they started loosing their way in the last decade or so.1 point

Pantera!
Sardonicist reacted to Dead1 for a topic
I got into Pantera, Sepultura and Slayer before I started getting into Cradle of Filth and also melodic death metal (and stuff like Nevermore and Iced Earth) in the late 1990s. Funny thing was I found those first three bands far more extreme than melodic death or symphonic black metal. Melodic death metal was always "easy listening" music whilst CoF's appeal was the campy Hammer Horror vibe, not musical extremity (and I still regularly listen to them). At the time if I wanted extremity it'd still be Slayer's Divine Intervention or Pantera's Great Southern Trendkill. Suicide Note Pt II is still an absolute rush to listen to - the musical intensity is matched by lyrical intensity. I even find a lot of thrash metal more extreme than a lot of death metal I like - eg Kreator's Pleasure to Kill or Endless Pain are more visceral, intense and raw than a lot of DM I like like Atheist, Cancer, Carcass, Edge of Sanity, Morbid Angel and even some Napalm Death (though these boys are back to face peeling) etc.1 point -
Hair metal/ Glam metal

Guns n Roses has a few songs that I like, but glam/hair metal is my most deeply hated subgenre of metal and I don't actually consider it metal so much as I consider it to be hard rock.1 point -

Re: Cannibal Corpse I've always had a soft spot for them. I've seen them 3 or 4 times and they put on excellent shows every time. I've got all their CD's and for a while they were my favorite Death Metal band. Obituary is my all time favorite now.1 point
