I literally just had half a cucumber for lunch. Very refreshing, low calorie treat. At most all you need is a little salt.

  5. At least you listened to it. I am a Megadeth fanboy (except Risk) and I still have a place in my musical heart for more mainstream metal. And I am wired to be tolerant to most things Megadeth and Iron Maiden even though I can't be arsed with new stuff by Overkill, Kreator, Arch Enemy, Kataklysm, Death Angel etc etc etc. In other news that the Goatmaster will probably approve, the first two GBH albums I ordered arrived at the record shop (City Baby Attacked By Rats and Revenge of City Baby). Sadly couldn't get them on vinyl without giving up my first born and a kidney so CD will have to suffice.

  6. No, actually what I said was on that Youtube video I posted the other day of the Nadja track there was a blanket of static covering the whole thing which prevented me from listening very long. I could be wrong, but I didn't think that static interference was part of their music, I think it was just on that video. I asked you about it and your reaction indicated that you didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I figured it was just some drone record that I was never ever going to come back to so I just moved on with my life and didn't give it another thought. Alright then forget what I just said. I just tried a different Nadja video of a different album and the static is still there. So I guess it must be their trademark production or something. (You do know what static is, don'tcha Doc?) It can't just be a ground loop that only kicks in on Nadja videos. I can't believe it's just the dude's guitar tone. My lo-fi black metal records sound better than this. Why would a band intentionally put a layer of static over their music? And then perhaps more perplexing is why would Doc act like he doesn't know what the fuck I'm talking about? There's definitely something fishy going on here, it's a god damned conspiracy I tell you! I blame the Christian Taliban. Nadja - Luminous Rot Sounds like a Hungarino special.

I think you lack faith in Google/YouTube's ability. They may not be able to definitively say what you're using that foil for today but with the amount of data we give them and the ways it's correlated they can make a pretty accurate guess. And the thing is if today's guess is baking salmon and it yields nothing, not only does the algorithm move on to something else like tin foil hats it also remembers you don't bake salmon for future reference.

I agree it would suck to be the guinea pig but it could also be some fun, like when you find something absolutely disgusting but try and trick your fellow monkeys into eating it just so they get the same experience! Considering groups like our (Australia's) native Indigenous communities know and understand a shit load more about food than we do you'd reckon it would make sense to look at stuff growing in the bush and trust it's goodness. Forget about evolution, forget who shit what, trust the foods that these cultures who have survived more than 60k years did. But alas apparently some of us just want to eye off cucumbers!

No doubts that fruit and vegetable evolution has happened due to ingestion/transportation and depositing. There's plenty of studies that show how this process has differed in fruits and vegetables that have become 'staples' as opposed the slower evolution of the fruits and vegetables that indigenous people ate thousands of years ago. It's a process that has been going on for millions of years. But was that their original purpose? Was their original purpose to be eaten in the first place? Where they created to evolve into something better through a process that may or may not have existed before their creation? It's the age old conundrum of who came first the chicken or the egg. The more important question has always been, who was the first person to watch a chicken drop something out it's backside and decide they actually wanted to eat it. He's only human!

It is never too late to pick up an instrument. The desire to play and learn and 'open ears' are all you need. Playing music at any level is one of life's great pleasures and surely is therapeutic. I wish you every joy.

I think the whole seed ingestion/transportation/deposit mechanism is the answer. Fruits and such did evolve to be eaten.

  21. Yeah I kinda wish they would bust into a little 'Uruah Heep' heavy prog. Sounds like they have the chops. I also figured you might like the Casket Cassette. My comment was somewaht tongue-in-cheek. I've seen it described as Joy Division meets Morrissey. Not sure I agree with that description, but I do like it nonetheless.

  22. Some non-metal I've been enjoying this morning. Feeling the effects of sleep deprivation work demands. Need some chill music to get over the hump. Birth - Born - prog rock from San Diego. Legit 70's prog if you enjoy that kinda stuff. I dig this album, and I'm picky about the prog I dabble in. Casket Cassette - s/t - post-punk/darkwave/synth from LA. For fans of stuff like Drab Majesty. Most of you would hate this. Casket Cassette | Casket Cassette (bandcamp.com) ASG - Win Us Over - stoner/heavy rock from North Carolina. Posted this plenty of times before, but I love these guys. Will get to see them the 3rd time this weekend. Their album art is some of my favorite. Win Us Over | ASG (bandcamp.com)

  28. CD's are better anyway, you donut! Why would anyone want to have to clean their records all the time and have to get up midway to flip the damn things over anyway? One of life's great mysteries. I really like GBH's 3rd full length, Midnight Madness and Beyond as well as their first EP Leather Bristles Studs and Acne. Consider those absolutely essential as well as the two you got. I haven't heard all of their many releases but the later ones I have heard were all still pretty good. As far as Megadeth goes, I was really only a marginal fan back in the day. I did keep buying all Dave's albums even well into the 90's because that's just what we did back then. But aside from the first two Megadiscs in '85 & '86, (especially Peace Sells) the rest of them never really got a huge amount of playtime. Was never a big Rust in Peace guy, but I did go through a brief Countdown phase in '92. I really lost track of the band and had all but stopped listening to them after Youthanasia, I did buy the sub-par Cryptic Writings out of habit but I think I only listened to it a couple of times. Tonight was the first time I'd heard anything from Dave and his hired guns released in this century. After I got over my unhealthy Metallica infatuation in late 1986 once I became disillusioned with the more commercial direction MoP had taken, the 'big 4' (aside from Slayer) lost much of their appeal. Reign in Blood was a huge album for me in '86 and from that point on we were much more into bands like: Overkill, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Motorhead, Fate, Exciter, Razor, Exodus, Possessed, Coroner, Sepultura...and of course punk stuff like GBH, Discharge, The Exploited, and local NY bands like Cro-Mags, Plasmatics, Crumbsuckers, Carnivore, AF and Murphy's Law we could go see play live. We'd still go see Anthrax when they were playing just because it was fun, even though by '88 we'd basically stopped buying and listening to their albums. And the crossover craze was really big in NY in the mid to late 80's. By that point we were looking more for punky crossover stuff, not California pretty boys with white high-tops who played a thousand note solos. If I would have grown up on the west coast instead of the east coast I might've had a very different outlook on things. NP: Hell's Coronation - Ritual Chalice of Hateful Blood, Poland 2019

  32. Alright I'll give it a shot. I've recently been transposing some ancient 30+ year old MegaDave interview videos from Youtube into English. I mean the videos are already in English but the translations Youtube's closed caption system spits out are so completely fucked up and Dave talks so god damned fast that it's virtually impossible for non-English speakers to understand what the fuck he's saying. All this time I've spent with Mr Mustaine lately has made me wonder what ole MegaDave's been up to these last 25 years or so. So if Deadovic says this is one of Dave's better albums of the last 25 years then I guess this will be as good a place to start as any. Megadeth - United Abominations 2007 I guess it's about what I expected from Dave. There's really nothing wrong with it, (aside from the political voiceovers which I could do without) I reckon it sounds about like what you'd want a Megadeth album to sound like, I just don't know any of the songs. This is probably better than the last Megadeth album I'd heard which was Cryptic Writings, but that's not saying much. At the end of the day this is just too mild and commercial for me, a musical style from a bygone era that I've long since moved on from. I'm sure I could play it 4 or 5 times and learn the songs but I just don't care about Megadeth that much. I could just throw on Peace Sells if I developed a Mega-itch that needed scratching.

  34. Some of you won't like it. Yes there's my cue to hop on and take a little ride for Doc's amusement. Hahahaha you've gotta be kidding me. Dialed her up on the tube and I was waiting for the music to start. And after a couple of minutes of the ambient intro I started getting impatient (like I sometimes do) so I skipped ahead a little. And then I skipped ahead a little bit farther, and a bit farther, and a bit farther, and a bit farther, and a bit farther........until finally I ran out of album and the music still hadn't started yet. I had to laugh that they bothered to break it up into two separate tracks. I'm surprised I'm still awake after that. It's not a matter of not liking it. I'm sure it would probably make a perfectly acceptable 20 or 30 second intro to a black metal album or something. But as a standalone piece of 'music' (and I use the term 'music' rather loosely) running 30:45, I think that's about 30 minutes too long. I would think something like this might only be useful as background music if you were busy doing something else and directing the bulk of your attention elsewhere. Isn't that the point of ambient music? Or am I missing the point completely as usual? This time Doc the Emperor is not only completely bare-ass naked, bald, blind and barefoot, but he has a shriveled little dick too. The Liminal dudes are OK though, I was digging that one. What's on your mind?

I notice occasionally that things my wife watches pop up on my feed but sharing the router means the Google/YT algorithms will always have some similarities. They can be filtered through the router so that it doesn't happen but generally at some stage something will pop up. What really gets me though is the amount of black metal that gets into my feed, some of it is direct from this forum, a band discussed here, or a video linked etc, but much of it is just random black metal albums. I'm probably getting 3 black metal albums to every other music genre.

I haven't read the comics in a really long time so I can't say how well it lines up, but what little I remember tracks pretty well. I hope they continue it, must be expensive as fuck to produce.

That being said the cracks already starting to show by the sequel, time to kill it off before it gets the game of thrones treatment and retroactively kills any level of enjoyment I might have for the previous instalments.
