  6. I haven't been posting much here because I've bought very little new metal this year. I will say Haunter's Discarnate Ails is one of the best albums I've grabed..it's progreesive black/death with a fair amount of dissonance but they always cycle back to a heavy, chaotic sound I dig......that said I found a stack of CD's from 2016, some new, some old but 2016 purchases- tucked away in my basement in overflow CD storage that I've been listening to before putting into main collection interspersed with 2021 albums: Asphyx/Incoming Death Ghoulgotha/To Starve the Cross-sounding better than I remembered Monolord/Vaenir-pretty boring, really Red Giant/Devil Child Blues-great The Vision Bleak/The Unknown-this holds up pretty well-gothic metal with blackened overtones Fleshgod Apocalypse/King-on the one hand-what was I thinking?-on the other hand-this is like a DM version of Dimmu Borgir or Therion both of whom I occasionally enjoy-and it's fun. Ramones/Leave Home Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine/A Beginner's Mind The War on Drugs/I Don't Live Here Anymore King Woman/Celestial Blues

  12. It's seriously nuts that a tiny little country of just 5.5 million people has been able to produce more superior black metal bands than the entire rest of the world combined. Not to mention some of the best death metal bands as well. I suppose there must be a few people for whom Finnish black metal might not be the superior black metal, but I have trouble seeing things from their point of view.

  14. Have a pair of Tinhifi T3 plus iems coming tomorrow. Reviews and hype have been over the top for a budget set of iems, so I talked myself down from OH10s which are 3 times the price. I am more interested in iems at the moment than hps. I will look forward to comparing some of my gear when I get a chance.

  24. You do, yes. You're a fruit. You're there to be eaten so the seeds inside your body get pooped out elsewhere and help propagate the species. This is a great metaphor.

  27. My eldest just arrived. I thought, 'how nice of her to come and see her parents on a Sunday morning'. She lobs in the door walks past the office where I'm sitting, says hello then says "where's Mum?" I tell her I don't know but she's not far away, shitty day and all so she's inside somewhere. As the kid walks off I call out, "to what do we owe the pleasure?" "Bust-A-Move marathon." I get told. Interest tweaked a little bit I decided to go and see what the real reason for her visit is and when I get to the lounge I see my wife has set up the Play Station 2 and "Bust-A-Move marathon" wasn't just a silly throw away comment. They plan to sit and play Bust-A-Move all day. I didn't even know we still had a working PS2

  30. I definitely am. I did take lessons as a kid but for acoustic, because that's what was allowed. Some piano and harmonica as well but nothing like, proficient. I mostly sang until my voice teacher got fired. Definitely seems like music was purposely kept from my life but I have always been driven back to it. It's a little emotionally overwhelming honestly and it feels a bit still to be crying while listening to Dio sometimes but church is church I guess. Thank you for the guidance. We can be ignorant together \m/

  31. Such a great album... still feels as fresh to me as the first time I heard it. Moonlapse Vertigo is my high point. Morningrise was the first one I heard, still love that one too.

  33. Hi. That sucks... hope you're out of whatever bad situation you were in. We have recommendation threads with a bunch of youtube links that you can dig through, and a lot of folks here also post links of what they're listening to. If you hear anything you like, let us know, and maybe someone can steer you towards more of it. Never too late to start learning guitar - it just takes time and dedication. I'm glad I started learning as a kid because I didn't realize how much I sucked. I see that being an obstacle for some older beginners whose goals exceed their reach at first. If you stick with it, it can be really rewarding. Playing music is one of my favorite things to do. I don't feel like myself without it.

  36. I dig the debut and Empiricism. They're a weird band for me though, there isn't much middle ground. I can't find anything to latch on to in their other stuff and I kinda hate some of it. It's like the planets just happened to align for a couple of albums. NP: Opeth - Still Life
