  2. I couldn't have finished it if it wasn't already 90% there. Still a shitty experience. Came out sounding alright though. I'm just really glad I didn't have to do any vocals with my ear plugged up, that would have been intolerable. I'm in the middle of a vocal recording now, and really hoping I can avoid a brush with The Plague v3.02 or whatever revision my area is currently on. At least wait till I'm done, dammit. Mild cases, quick recoveries, and cold beers all around.

    What's on your mind?

Taking care of a kid who was isolating didn't sound like the worse job when it popped up. But its funny how keeping her distance falls along the way side as soon as she starts feeling better I haven't looked at the government data about when the bug starts becoming less infectious but she's here until Sunday so I imagine keeping her distance might become less of an issue in the next few days. I can't really complain I'm not forcing her to stay in the spare room, in fact I'm encouraging her to get outside in the fresh air and sit on the veranda for some of the day. She's just a little bored and looking for something to do, apparently she's spoken to some of her fellow students and they reckon classes have been cancelled due to lack of attendance so she hasn't even got studying to keep her occupied.

  4. I used to use Darth Vader as a way to get the kid to behave. Especially if he acted up when we were out in the supermarket or somewhere I'd get my phone out and tell him "That's it, I'm calling Darth Vader. Let's see if he's got room and I can drop you off over there at his house on my way home and you can live with him from now on." That would make him start crying and begging "No, please, I want to stay with you!!" which some might think is mean, but I figured it was better than beating his ass. But he's a little older now and he's wised up to these kinds of tricks, he knows (or at least he's pretty sure) that Darth Vader is just a fictional character like Santa Claus. All I can do to him now when he misbehaves is take his two favorite things, Youtube and sugar away. As far as swear words go...I got a call this afternoon from one of his teachers. Seems they had some kind of a writing assignment yesterday in phys ed class and my kid wrote "fuck you" on the paper in 'invisible' ink. Which would likely have gone unnoticed except he made a point to shine the blacklight on it for just a second as he handed it in, prompting the teacher to ask what it said. One thing led to another and then I found myself on the phone with this guy. Now if you've read many of my posts you'll know I don't have any problems at all with swearing or foul language, I enjoy salty language. But still the kid needs to understand that it's perfectly natural to use that kind of language with his little school friends on the playground or whatever, but he can't say it to the grown-ups at school or certainly he should not be writing these words on the papers he's handing in to the teachers. Sounds like testing boundaries to me, which is normal at his age I guess. But still I felt like I had to sound sufficiently concerned on the phone with this guy when honestly I was just glad he had spelled the words correctly. He's lost his Youtube privileges through the weekend which has made him quite upset. I think that'll probably be enough to get the point across. There's a time and a place for the F-bomb.

  5. I worked with Taipan quite a few times back in the 80's. I loved their early stuff and it was always a great show when they were on the bill. NP Obituary - Torture Chamber

    What's on your mind?

Sounds about like mine. I cut the grass in my front yard tonight with a push mower so I'm nearly back. I really want a cold beer, but guess I'll give it couple of more days 😂 Good Dad taking care of your daughter. Mine just graduated from Uni as you say with a nursing degree. She'll shack up here until August when she starts her first nursing gig at John Hopkins assuming she passes her boards and moves in with some girlfriends in Baltimore.

    What's on your mind?

Mild cases I think is the hope for everyone. My daughter seems to have a mild case too, going by the data the government has given us (which isn't much) she's on day 4 now, the headaches stopped yesterday, a bit of a cough has developed and her nose is blocked.

    What's on your mind?

In my case it started mild, kicked in pretty good day 2-3, got then new antivirals which probably helped because, I'm in day 4 which includes the first day when the symptoms were very mild and I feel good. Not great-still some congestion and not at full energy-but pretty damn good. I've had asthma symptoms and trouble breathing for a couple of days and that's clearing up nicely. I consider my case pretty mild.

    What's on your mind?

It's weird the rules we have in this country. One of my nieces, who's had 3 shots, had to do last semester online, she then moved down to Geelong before the end of the semester to attend Deakin and the rules were completely different.

    What's on your mind?

My daughter just had a head ache and a sore throat, but it came on suddenly Monday morning before she was suppose to go to uni. She hadn't been anywhere all weekend and while she could easily have caught it from uni Vic rules state that if you can't pin point a location 2 days before the test get the PCR to confirm otherwise the RAT is good enough. The head ache was gone within a few hours and the sore throat comes and goes. She did spend most of yesterday laying on the spare bed but today she's out in the lounge kicking my arse on the Switch game and laughing so she's doing good.

  15. It feels like I just have a cold, and Simpson rap test was negative I’m not sure if it is, like I said though it’s not like I can just jump in my car and go and get tested properly.

    What's on your mind?

My eldest came down crook yesterday, she took a RAT and it was positive but because she couldn't pin point where she'd got it from Vic rules recommender she should get a PCR. Positive result came back this morning so being a really good Dad I invited her to stay here for the week. She's in isolation until Sunday but really doesn't have much more than a head ache and a sore throat.

Sorry to hear that RO. My number came up boys, on an antiviral. This sucks. So much music I want to listen to on my Bandcamp. All I really want to do is sleep. Getting a little better though.

  18. I feel like death warmed up right rapid antigen test says I am negative for Covid and since I can’t drive and the nearest PCR testing station is about an hour walk can’t confirm. Such bad timing.

    Help with guitar!

You can totally tune it to E standard, you just might want to use lighter (thinner) strings for that than you would for D standard so they don't feel too tight. Give it a shot in the factory tuning first, see how it feels, then experiment. I'd probably start with a light set like Ernie Ball Super Slinkys, or even something a little lighter, and just see how it feels for a while. Ernie Balls are pretty good, inexpensive, widely available, and they come in sets of a bunch of different gauges, so it's easy to try something a little looser or tighter if you want to see how it feels after a while. If you just want to play in drop D sometimes (which is where you only tune the lowest string from E down to D), then you can probably use the same strings as you would for E standard. If you find yourself playing in drop D all of the time it might be worth trying a thicker low string.
