I just got my booster shot half an hour ago. Turned out there was a walk-in clinic a short bike ride away (not the 13 miles if I had booked!). It was a half hour wait but done and dusted now.

Evoken - Hypnagogia On my weekly play of this album, and will continue to play it weekly. Flawless, and I'm hard to impress!

I have the same mixed feelings about it as I did the last few Maiden albums. There are some great moments on it, I really like "Writing on The Wall" and "Hell on Earth", but there are way too many meandering instrumental passages that drag on for too long. If they kept all the best parts and edited it down to around 42 minutes this could've been a great album. It did get me in to mood to revisit some classic Maiden albums though, it's been a hot minute... NP: Iron Maiden - Powerslave

Hehe, that about sums it up very well. I've got a set of printed instructions in my old ute for how to get it out of limp mode while on the side of the road. Carried it with me since just after I got the thing because I never wanted to be stranded, but thankfully I've never needed it.

I've got mine set for the Monday after Christmas. Appointments around here filled up with a quickness today. Currently crossing my fingers that my car didn't suffer engine damage when the coolant system broke a couple months ago. Thing's been in and out of the shop ever since and it went into "limp in" mode on the highway twice today. For those unfamiliar, "limp in" mode is like a song that starts off with a great intro and solid riffs but then the chorus is lame and shitty. Maybe I need to do an art rock project called Limp In Mode where every song is ruined by a terrible chorus. Maybe that would make me feel better about my goddamn car. Maybe a lobotomy would help.

Ustalost - Before The Glinting Spell Unvests ...definitely worth a revisit, loving the grimy detuned keyboard atmospheres.

I always add sambal or chilli of some form to my satay stir fries so I'm not surprised it would taste ok.

Dental stuff sucks. Hope recovery goes smoothly. Glad they caught it, abscesses are no joke. Still waiting to get my son his first shot, he's scheduled for early next week. My wife had her booster; I'm hoping to get mine soon too. The kid has been an absolute lunatic at home lately - lots for all of us to be stressed about, so I kind of get it, but damn dude. He couldn't sit still for my wife to help him floss his teeth, and that somehow turned into an argument that culminated in him (age 9) yelling that he was "moving out" and storming out of the apartment in his pajamas. Good thing it's all supposed to be smooth sailing once they hit puberty though, right?

I got through on Monday after ten mins and got in next week 1.5 miles away, could have gone this week but too much on at work. Hope the tooth gets better @Natassja

I spent a while trying to book yesterday via NHS. After long waits I got through a couple of times. The first time I got right through to the end and then got an error message. The nearest site option was at least 12 miles away The second time I got through, totally different site options, slightly further way. My wife had some bad tooth pain about a year ago. Needed root canal. For weeks afterwards she still complained about the pain. So, I sympathise with your pain....but it passes. P.S. just got through now on NHS again. Nearest is 13.5 miles away. I am afraid I just don't want it that bad. I work from home and school finishes today for my daughter. Famous last words.

Venom wrote very distinctive songs. I would say theor best songs are more memorable than Death's. Ironically Death's most important and pioneering album Scream Bloody Gore isn't that far removed from Venom. (I also thing Death peaked with Leprosy but that is another story). As for killer musicianship, no dount Venom weren't the greatest but you don't jave to be a virtuoso to make great music. Seriously Sex Pistols Never Mind The Bollocks is one of the best damn albums rver made IMO but they certainly weren't talented musicians - hell Sid Vicious could barely play). Theu onvented a whole new sound and style of metal. No one went that extreme before Venom. They created the whole overt Satanic aesthetic that became so pivotal to the genre.
