  3. I wasn't a teenager but I'm really glad I got to see Motörhead a few times back in the 80's & early 90's. It was like a religious experience each time, it just felt so surreal to be standing just a few feet away from one of my larger than life metal heroes. They were a band that was born to play live in smokey clubs with sticky floors littered with empty beer cans in the dodgy part of town. I remmeber it was always loud and he had the microphone perched up above him, head cocked back in that classic Lemmy pose, screaming his lungs out, bullet belts all around (I wore one to shows myself back then in his honor) I was completely fucking starstuck. The only other "rockstar" type who ever affected me anything like that was Tom G. Warrior when I saw Celtic Frost once in the late 80's and then I saw him again many years later when I saw Triptykon at MDF.

  5. Not my site but a couple of acquaintances from another forum (2 brothers in fact) have put together a new ratings and reviews site - with a forum attached. Interesting concept of "clans" has been developed for users to sign up to and all manner of challenges are available to keep the place active. Majority of users seem to be Australian at present so some international input would be more than welcome I am sure. The site can be found here https://metal.academy/

  14. AMEBIX - Arise! Tau Cross - Tau Cross Starting to put this all together now. I had that first Briton Rites album 10 years ago and I used to play the shit out of it. Had no idea he was in all these other bands. I had a Seamount album too (their self titled, not the one you posted) band was from Germany, good album but I never would have guessed that was the same guy from BR singing. Gonna check out this Summerlands after my Tau Cross is finished. Should probably have a listen to the new Briton Rites while I'm at it too.

  17. Talking about Phil Swanson in another thread has put me on a binge. My favorite vocalist in metal atm. Briton Rites - Occulte Fantastique Vestal Claret - S/t from 2020 Hour of 13 - S/t (my second favorite of his stuff) Seamount - Lucifer's Bride Lords of Triumph - Reaching the End EP and of course the best thing he's been a part of - Sumerlands - S/t. Too bad he's not singing on the new one. This is a banger. I spin this 2-3 times a week at least. Never falls out of rotation.

    Hello there!

Yo, I just checked out your thread and I have to say you have some awesome work as well! I'd love to chat art and illustration with you sometime. I'll definitely try and make a thread for my stuff! I listened to Rannoch's new album earlier this year based on the cover art alone, so kudos there Hmm, it's ever-changing, but at the moment the main ones in rotation are Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Deafheaven, Inferi, Visigoth, Stortregn, and Cult of Luna.

  19. Was listening to this on Saturday. The playlist selections are pretty good. Hadn't heard Exhorder in ages. And anytime I get a chance to blast Hypnosia, I never miss it!

    Controversial Metal Opinions

Agreed, I've heard some excellent live gigs by extreme bands, and often when it sucked it was down to a combination of no soundcheck or sound guy/girl being clueless. Oh and the room acoustis. Some venues are just bad for live sound.
