  1. I couldn't see a better place for this subject than here, so here we go... I'd like to point out straight from the off the emphasis on the "some" part of the subject title. I joined a black metal fb page today, mainly to promote my own music, while scrolling through fb I came across Darkthrone's page, I must say I'm surprised they even have one tbh, I found it highly amusing that Facebook suggested "if you like darkthrone, why not check out Slipknot!" Like fans of darkthrone would a) have not have heard of them and b) would be at all interested in them, they're not exactly compatible bands are they? ?. So I took a screen shot and shared it to the black metal group, with a comment "i think fenriz would vomit if he saw this hahaha" obvs it's an exaggeration, only to be instantly trolled, with a reply that went "I think fenriz would vomit if he realised how cringey bm fans are", the irony of it!!! You mean people who like black metal, who have joined this group to chat with like minded people are cringey because what? Was I slagging off Slipknot? No, not at all I respect them, was I trying to prove how black metal I am by saying they are not worthy to be mentioned anywhere near darkthrone? ? I know some that might argue that's the case, but no, I was merely commenting on how its amusing that fb associated the two, I get it's a simple science with Slipknot being one of the most popular metal bands in the world, that's why its amusing, Darkthrone the self proclaimed "Most Hated Band in the world" ? What irks me though is the fact that SOME metal fans think they are high and mighty and automatically assume that the new guy or girl is a wannabe (who cares even if they are?!?!) It's not very welcoming is it? A part of me is like "meh" what do you expect from a genre of music that in its essence is hateful, but another part of me is like "nah it's this kind of elitism that's a big problem with metal in general, especially in bm. With that being said I would like to thank everyone that I have spoken to on this forum for being very kind and welcoming, keep doing what you're doing! Sabazios

  2. Alabaster thanks for suggesting afterbirth. Had quick listen and it's good and vocals were different but fitted the music very well. I like the variety of stuff they play, not heard the sci fi bits but looking forward to those and I'm always fan of melodic bits. Reminds me of death in places buts it's death metal so it would right.duh, ha ha ha. Will probably listen to some of there other stuff. Sounds like it was worth the wait for there debut. Just of interest what's the debut called. I put there name in Wikipedia and found nothing so have just looked them up on you tube.

  3. Good to hear from you balor. Re the black metal teacher. Think hardest part would be finding a teacher in the first place.maybe online teacher. There's got to be legit ones. You might even get a black metal legend to teach as covid may mean there teaching as income, although not convinced abbath would be good teacher ?, amazing guitarist yes but teacher ?Once you done few lessons why not. You could learn a few techniques even if you didn't go the whole way. Re your noise music Yeah I and a few others look forward to the day you put a link to your noise music on the site. Also great you got some stuff online released too even if one was not serious which is a shame. With re to bathory I know what you mean, there's albums I got where I like all the tracks but listening to whole album doesn't add anything. Then again latest pallbearer album sounds so much better played in full. Cool will look out for the thread here re art. Good luck with the music in 2021

  4. I thought the Afterbirth album was awesome, yeah, they turned into a more interesting band over the years. Lots of brutal DM but also some cool melodic sections and sci fi atmosphere.

  5. Kristiko

    Limp Bizkit

I didn't listen to them until I was like 25, back in 2014, which is weird, LB is usually music that you listen as a teenager. I was a big fan for like two years, I even covered 'Just Like This'. Nowadays I rarely put them in playlist, but I still respect the band, especially some tracks that are less known, but still great.

  6. Its my favorite festival. I'd highly recommend camping though, a huge amount of stuff happens in the evenings in the campsites which add to the whole experience. With it being quite a small scale festival its about a minutes walk to the camp from the arena, which is great if there's nothing you want to see on and you just want to go and sit down and have a drink without spending extortionate amounts of money on the drinks in the arena. Even if you're on your bill its very easy to make friends there, its one of the most chilled out metal festivals going, most camps will adopt you if you ask nicely and aren't a d*ck. I've been going for five years, every year we take a few more people and every one of them has come back every year since.

  8. Arise is one of my favourite albums of all time, but after that they lost me completely.

  9. I don't poo in fields! I only stay in 4 star hotels and steal soaps, biscuits and teas. I am the very definition of middle class metal!

  10. I don't consider myself a spiritual person. That being said I can't deny there's something about music (or at least the music I enjoy) that is truly special. Music has helped me get through some very challenging times in my life. Times where I felt isolated and beyond depressed music was my only means of relief. It was a means of escaping that crushing loneliness and despair. If I'm to be very honest were it not for the way music impacts me I almost certainly would have committed suicide. I suppose music is my spirituality. It is something I can turn to like others turn to their faith, family, or friends. Whether it be Vivaldi, Robert Johnson, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, or Death I know music will always be there for me and it will continue influencing my life in a very profound way. Very recently I've realised that sentiment is what drives me to keep playing my guitar. I hope that when I begin crafting my own music it impacts others in the same way.
