  1. Time to retire my beloved Gibson after 21 years of service. This showed up today: Schecter E-1 SLS Elite "Evil Twin". Fucking amazing so far - lighter, clearer-sounding, easier to play, stays in tune like a champ... So happy I was able to pull the trigger on this. I might even like the active pickups!

  2. Hey, if it works, it works. A lot of lower mid-level instruments can sound great and be everything you need with the right setup. Good luck with it.

  4. So, my Death Sound of Perseverance and my Gorguts "Arrows" tees arrived today and because there was a slight delay the label threw in a Sodom postcard with a note thanking me for my patience and also a Celtic Frost Morbid Tales booklet with interviews and old adverts in (inc. their advert for a drummer). Little things count.

  5. So Behemoth just released a four track EP named A Forest (with a cover from The Cure of the same name). Track Listing 1. A Forest (feat. Niklas Kvarforth) 2. A Forest (feat. Niklas Kvarforth) Live 3. Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha 4. Evoe As a die-hard Behemoth fan I'm kind of disappointed with A Forest, Niklas' vocals seem kind of distracting and over the top; and I can't help but feel that Nergal could have done a better job at it. The musicality of the cover is fantastic though, and I feel that it would have been a better rendition with a different vocalist. (Any suggestions?). I wouldn't stop listening to it because of the vocals, but it could have been something more. The latter part of the EP is far superior. It's fast, thrashy and dark; keeping in Behemoth's themes. All in all I'm kind of torn on how I would rate it, have you guys listened to it? What did you think?

  6. Agreed, I always prefer simple - to the point where I've even taken all the electronics out of my main players and wired the pickups straight to the jack. I learned to play on a fixed bridge, and I have habitual approaches to certain techniques (palm muting and tremolo picking for instance) that really don't translate well to a Floyd Rose. A good Floyd set up well on a good guitar can be really fun, but I'm much more at home writing and performing on a Tune-O-Matic. These pickups are a little bit "fancy" for my taste but the range of sounds actually seems useful, and I have zero noise coming through my amp for the first time in years. Everything so far seems like an upgrade. Ouch, that sucks! I would go nuts if I couldn't play. I've had my main guitar stuck elsewhere for a while before and it's a shitty feeling, I missed it constantly. Any idea when you'll be able to get your hands on it?

  7. Thanks man. It ticked all of the boxes and then some as far as specs go, and the body shape is awesome. Proportionally it's almost identical to my Explorer. And it's a joy to play. I kind of wish they made it with these specs in a natural wood finish, but satin black is just fine.

  8. Yeah I was definitely influenced by AxCx lyrically, but we had actual songs too! xD obviously domestic violence is no laughing matter, at all, but the fact that I band would dare to make songs about it is kind of amusing. A bit like comedians like Frankie Boyle or Jimmy Carr, the subject isn't the thing that you're laughing at...

  9. I liked it overall. I'm a big fan of The Cure's original but I thought they did it justice. The last 2 songs are better though, I agree on that.

  11. I can't say I'd heard of either of those bands before, but Fornicator's demo was entitled "She Died on My Dick", come on if that is not intended as humour I don't know what is! The humour comes from the desire to cause maximum offence, I mean my first band was called Coathanger Abortion and we had a song called "Cot Death" and another called "No Tears for dead Queers", none of us were homophobic at all, the title was intended to piss as many people off as possible, thus amusing ourselves... I will say that was 20 years ago now so please don't judge too harshly! I'm gonna get kicked out...
