  1. Deicide - Legion; it was a while I didn't listen to any of their material. Can't help but to notice the gap between this album and anything that came afterwards, in terms of sheer violence and power, there's simply no competition

  2. I agree. "Once Upon The Cross" has its moments, but the songwriting is more bland and predictable. I can't get into anything after that.

  3. There were a lot of quality bands to come from that era of Heavy Metal history, some are still around while some died out quickly. If you are new to this style I recommend the following: Angel Witch - Angel Witch Angel Witch - Screamin' And Bleedin' Blitzkrieg - A Time Of Changes Cloven Hoof - Cloven Hoof Def Leppard - On Through the Night Grim Reaper - See You In Hell Grim Reaper - Fear No Evil Holocaust - The Nightcomers Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden Iron Maiden - Killers Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind Legend - Legend Legend - Death In The Nursery Judas Priest - British Steel Raven - Rock Until You Drop Raven - Wiped Out Raven - All For One Raven - Life's A Bitch Samson - Head On Samson - Shock Tactics Saxon - Denim & Leather Tygers Of Pan Tang - Wild Cat Tygers Of Pan Tang - Spellbound Venom - Welcome to Hell Venom - Black Metal Venom - In War with Satan Witchfynde - Stagefright Granted there are more great bands/albums out there, but these are great starting points!

  4. Hi, New here. I am a 50 year old Pastor. Live in N. Ireland. Just looking to maybe meet new fellow metalheads like myself here who are Christian or interested in finding out about Jesus. Maybe try to meet up for gigs, prayer, Bible, nights out or anything, anywhere in Ireland. Metalhead for 38 years, Christian for 29. 80's thrash and power/speed metal are my things. Thanks, God Bless.

  5. Well, I haven't done one of these review things in a long ass-fucking time. However, I put on this tape today, and I thought to myself "there is no end to what I can say about this album". Lo and behold, here I am. So firstly, these guys are from Finland and they are NOT an NS band, despite the implication in the name and some song/album titles; all references to NS subject matter are done in respect to history, not some affiliation of theirs. That said, the band is made up of two deranged men-- Nekroführer (guitars, bass, vocals) and Nekrokommando (drums). Together, this duo is able to get quite the traditional Raw Black Metal sound going. We're talking absolutely inhuman shrieks, blistering early Darkthrone riffs, and blast beats upon blast beats. Not to mention the somewhat unique atmosphere and pathos they capture in their music. This pathos I speak of is absolute pain, desperation, hate, and sadness. As you can tell from the title, these guys like to talk about suicide, and their music goes hand in hand with the topic; it is crushing yet also heart-wrenching with its lightning-fast minor scale riffs typical of such Black Metal. I would highly recommend listening to the full album for first-time listeners, but for those who lack the time I suggest the songs "Suicide is Only Way" and "End of Disgusting Life". They truly capture the essence of this album in just a few pummeling minutes. I will end with the youtube link to the full album, cheers all. https://youtu.be/EPMnuJeAkfs

Welcome! You mentioned that you are "philosophical" - do you study philosophy?

  10. I love Rush and Pink Floyd, and dig some Sabbath and Chieftains on occasion. Doesn't look like we have anything else in common, but that's ok. Hope you enjoy your stay.

  11. Welcome aboard dude, hope you'll stick around (we are basically the same age). I like most of the stuff you already listen to, doom metal being my favorite, I guess, among these.

    What's on your mind?

Been in a bit of a funk as of late. Extremely antisocial. Im constantly busy trying to keep up with my regular responsibilities but in all honesty my current relationship is not to conducive to that. We've been having alot of issues lately that I continue to try to work past but she can never seem to keep optimism for more than a few hours and we end up at odds again. Just very emotionally exhausting, to the point where Im starting to feel that the general functionality of my life is suffering. A younger me would have just walked away by now but I guess I'm just trying to fulfill the challenge to myself of saving it, regardless of how impossible it may seem at this stage. On a lighter note, my show the other night went great. The supporting acts were pretty garbage if im being honest, but we got an overwhelmingly positive response. Booked 2 more shows almost immediately and now with the help of my buddies in Shroud Eater we're beginning the conception of an all out doom fest here in tampa. Once again, music has become the one consistent anchor of positivity in my life

    Hello

It is strange. My biggest influences right now are Riot, The Scorpions, Boston, The Cars, Brian Wilson, Angel Witch, and (might get some flak for this) Run DMC's guitar thing. I also like that 8 bit Pokemon music, I read somewhere it is actually used to cure depression. My musical goals are to do things that haven't really been done before. I love Thrash Metal, but there are Thrash Metal bands. I feel like I would take away from someone doing a similar thing unless the thing I do doesn't exist, at least in the way I do it. When I was a kid, I was zoning out in science class. My teacher said Lithification is the process in which softer elements are used to make a harder version of rock. And I thought he was talking about the music. So, I do a lot of lithification.

  16. I shall consider this a hypothetical "desert island" thing ... and with some pain-in-process select ten classics, but I refuse to arrange them into a hierarchic order (as that would give me a headache). They are all equally worthy, and it's all my taste, no objectivity even vaguely attempted ... which means there will be no accounting and no explanation. Oh, and just one album per band. Shit's gotta be difficult, right? Or at least painful. Mercyful Fate - Melissa Motörhead - Overkill Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality Iron Maiden - Killers Judas Priest - Sin After Sin Witchfynde - Give 'Em Hell Budgie - Never Turn Your Back On A Friend Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations Hackensack - Up The Hardway Lucifer's Friend - (self titled)
